OsCommerce Cafe Membership

October 16, 2006 by Tricia

I found a site that might be of interest to website designers. The osCommerce cafe where individuals or website designers can sign up for memberships of three months, six months or one year.

What’s this all about and why would you want a membership?

Well, if you visit the osCommerce website you’ll discover that for the low cost of a membership you’ll be able to download as many osCommerce templates as you like. You can use these templates to design your own website, or with some modification to the design website designers can offer these templates to their clients when designing sites for their customers. The osCommerce site was created in March 2006 by the author of “The Programmers’ Guide to osCommerce” – Myles O’Reilly.

The templates offered are kept as up to date as possible, and there is a fairly large selection from which to choose. The various template designs are laid out within easy to use category descriptions. If you are looking for a template to use on an Art or photography site simply select that category and you’ll discover several templates that might be suitable for that type of site. Other categories include Food and Drink, Games, Jewelry, Seasonal, software, and computers, as well as many more categories of design.

The osCommerce Cafe also offers a generous affiliate program that is free to all. By simply placing a referral link to The osCommerce cafe on your site you could earn 25% commission if someone signs up for a membership.

You’ll also find a tutorial section on the osCommerce Cafe website where you can delve into the knowledge base, or view several articles such as how to customize the templates or import to a database. Their FAQ section is also quite extensive covering 20 frequently asked questions with descriptive answers.

A three month membership with osCommerce costs $89, and as I stated above during your period of membership you can download an unlimited number of templates. Compare this to the cost of purchasing a single design from other companies at a price of perhaps $150 and you’ll realize that this company is offering you quite a bargain.

Click and Comment Monday

October 16, 2006 by Tricia

Hey Folks!

It’s Monday and you know what that means. It’s time to visit someone on my blogroll, leave a comment on their site, and then select either their renter if they have one or someone from their blogroll to visit.

Click and comment Monday was started by Cat to help fellow bloggers get new visitors and some comments – because everyone loves to get some comments and feedback on their latest post or on their blog don’t they?

You can find out about Click and Comment Monday and how to officially join the group over at Cats site.

Pick one of the people from my blogroll (it’s to the left under the heading “Links” – Extra Helpings), visit them and leave a comment. Travel around to at least five blogs visiting the sites renter or someone on that sites blogroll leaving comments as you. Have fun spreading the bloggy love.

Notice some changes?

October 13, 2006 by Tricia

You’ve probably noticed a few changes on my blog in the past couple of days. I’ve increased the number of posts that I’ve been doing and that will probably continue for some time, well unless I burn out!

You see, I’ve been writing opinion posts for Pay/PerP0st so that I can make a little bit of extra cash. As my regular readers probably know, I’ve been stuck at home for 10+ months due to illness. I’m an emergency room nurse but I’ve been too sick to work thanks to my having Crohn’s disease.

My sick pay ran out last March or April, so then I applied for medical leave pay through our government unemployment office. No I’m not unemployed, not yet anyway. The medical leave pay only lasted for 15 weeks and that ran out in early July. Since then we’ve been living on my husbands Part-Time job’s pay and our savings. In July I had contacted our medical insurance company (we have medical insurance coverage through our employer) and they started the process of deciding whether I’m eligible for short term disability pay. I’m still waiting for their decision and our funds are running out.

I hope to go back to work soon but I’m still not well so I have no idea when I may return. Soon I hope because I fear that if I don’t get back soon they may decide not to hold my job any longer.

So, I’m busy trying to find some ways to make money while I’m at home. And no, I’m not going to do anything kinky! LOL

Right now I’m trying out the P Post postings on my site. I hope that my regular readers will put up with this for a while. I’m trying to find interesting ads to write about that might be of interest to some of my readers, and I’m trying to find items that fit in with this site. The posts will probably blend in a bit better once I get used to writing them.

If anyone has any other ideas on how I can make some extra money from home let me know. I need some ideas to help keep us afloat.

Thanks!

VoIP forum

October 12, 2006 by Tricia

My husband and I have been thinking about changing over to VoIP, and we’ve been trying to learn more about it.

What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. Some services using VoIP may only allow you to call other people using the same service, but others may allow you to call anyone who has a telephone number – including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers. Also, while some services only work over your computer or a special VoIP phone, other services allow you to use a traditional phone through an adapter.

We’ve recently discovered the forums over at Vonage. Reading the forums has been very helpful. You can learn more about Voip products and read articles there, and you can also read the latest news about VoIP technology. The forums are owned by Vonage, who established the VoIp information site over 4 years ago, and naturally Vonage also offers VoIP to it’s customers.

Visit the Vonage forums to learn more, maybe we’ll see you there.
