Online Safety deposit box

October 29, 2006 by Tricia

Now this is something I might be interested in. I always worry about “what if’s” – What if someone breaks in? What if the house burns down? What will happen to our important paperwork if something happens?

Most people use bank safe deposit boxes to store their important paper work such as their will, the mortgage agreement for their home, insurance policy paperwork, and the deed to your property, but what if you could also store a copy of your most important paperwork in the first truly secure Online Safe Deposit Box? If disaster struck, wouldn’t it be handy to have copies of all your policies and paperwork in one safe and convenient place?

You could even keep a copy of your passport or important cards and I.D. that you keep in your wallet, then if you were on vacation and were robbed or lost your wallet you could access this information from just about anywhere you are in the world. You’d just need to log on and download your information.

If you’d like to try this you can get a free small-sized online safe deposit box for one year or you could upgrade your account and get a larger permanent box for as little as $3 per month. The company states that this service is completely secure and encrypted with servers in multiple Countries.

I’ve never heard of a service like this but I can imagine all of the possible uses for an online safe deposit box. Great idea.

Search Engine Optimization Blog

October 28, 2006 by Tricia

Some of you are startled when you find out just how many blogs and websites I own and manage. For those that don’t know – I have five blogs, and two major websites and I might add a few more blogs or websites to my network in the coming months.

Yes I am a geek and I’m not too proud to admit it.

Over the years I’ve learned a lot about Search Engine Marketing (SEO), page rank (PR) and many of the other aspects of promoting a website and getting it to the top of the search results so that people can find my sites easily and come visit and see what I have to offer.

I know all of the things that work best for my sites and have a lot of experience with creating and promoting sites but I don’t have a lot of interest in writing about it. However, I’ve recently come across the SEO Blog that has a lot of very useful information on it that I know many of my readers will find useful.

Do you have a niche blog or website? A popular blog that you want to take to the next level? Why don’t you visit the Search engine optimization blog and learn what you can do to get your site to the top of the search engine results?

Sticky Buttons

October 27, 2006 by Tricia

No that was sticky buttons, not sticky buns. Geesh! You people amaze me with your dirty minds!

We’ve been struggling with our cordless phone for the last few months. No scratch that – it’s had a few problems for about a year now.

It started with us no longer being able to turn the ringer off – that was about a year ago. I don’t know about you, but when you work shift work there are times that you just don’t want the phone to ring, because, of course, if it does it’s usually just after you’ve managed to fall asleep. Ok, well, then, if we don’t want this phone to ring I guess we’ll just unplug it.

Then some of the buttons started to stick every now and then. Often the numbers 6 and 9. It wasn’t too bad at first but over the last couple of months it’s gotten worse and worse. On Tuesday it was so bad that I had to use my cellphone to check our home phone messages because I’d already tried to put in our password 7 times on our cordless phone without it working. The buttons either weren’t working or when I finally succeeded they put in two or three of the number I’d been trying to punch in.

I’ve got a cordless phone that can be used to answer calls but forget dialing most numbers. It doesn’t work half the time. Is there an orphanage or retirement home for phones like this? I think I need to send ours there.

So on Tuesday amongst the many other things that I did on Tuesday we went phone shopping. We ended up getting a Motorola cordless phone. One of those ones that has two extra handsets. We only have TWO phone jack in our house. Yeah, we should have had more put in when we got the house but I guess we figured two would be ok.

Our tiny house now has 5 working phones! A corded phone in our bedroom, a cordless in the living room / dining room – both of those use the phone jacks, a handset in the kitchen, and the other extra handset is in one of our spare rooms upstairs right now but I’d like to move it to the basement ’cause if we do we’ll have all the floors covered. The fifth phone is the cell phone.

No more sticky buttons! The only problem now is that if we don’t want the ringer to wake us up we have even more phones to silence. I’m sure there will be times that we’ll forget one or two of them. *groan*

Feeling Special!

October 24, 2006 by Tricia

I’m having a great week so far and it’s only Tuesday. I hope that it doesn’t all go downhill from here. LOL

The very popular Mr. Fab of Pointless Drivel fame has bestowed a great honor on me this week. He’s been calling me his technical adviser for a while now. Apparently this is a very prestigious position over at the Pointless Institute for scientific studies – here in known as PISS.

The only other blogger that has a higher position there, that I know of, is Shelli from Shelli’s Sentiments who is the Technical Director. I guess Mrs. Fab has the highest position or positions – she’s gotta be the Director and probably the chief Editor too because I know Mr. Fab checks some of his posts with her before he puts them out for all the world to see. Those ones clearly have her stamp of approval all over them.

So what’s that great honor? Well the Fabulous one left me and Shelli in charge of his place! Muhahahahah! The poor fool, he doesn’t know what he’s done! Shelli’s been MIA so until she arrives over there I’m trying to keep the peace at the Bosses place.

Then, earlier today, I found out that I’ve been the top visitor/commenter over at Doc Mom’s place You’ve got 2 B kidding. She actually has property on her blog! Can you believe that? There’s houses and cars on a little Cul de Sac and she awards a lot (a house!) to bloggers that have proven their merit by being faithful visitors and being the top commenter on the cul de sac for three weeks in a row.

So now I have to decide which lot I want. It’s a tough decision. You could give me a hand by going over to Doc Moms and looking at the satellite overview of the lots. Two are already taken. The Fab, and Zed from The world according to Zed already have lots on the Cul de Sac. There’s still room for more though! I think if we’re lucky Sans and Mel might join us soon too.

I wonder if anything else interesting will happen this week?

At 9:30 this morning I’ve got to go and see the Occupational health doctor at work. I never know if he’s going to say well it’s time that we tried getting you back to work, or if he’s going to keep me off for longer. I know that he was hoping that I would have had an appointment with my GI doctor by now to discuss the results of all my tests, but I only just had my MRI on October 11th. I called to make an appointment with the GI doctor and I can’t get in until December 13th! I’d like to see him earlier because depending upon what the results of my tests were he might end up trying me on some new medications, and if he does perhaps they will actually work this time and I’ll start to feel better. Anyway- wish me luck at the Occ Health appointment. The doctor is actually very nice but it always kind of feels like I’m going to see the Principal whenever I have to go there for an appointment.

Make money posting on a forum?

October 23, 2006 by Tricia

I kept hearing about this forum where you could go and post questions or post replies to discussions that were already going on and then the owners of the site would actually end up paying you for your participation.

Since I’ve been looking for ways to make a bit of extra money I thought what the heck, why don’t I at least check it out and find out what this is all about. So I went and registered at MyLot.com yesterday.

While I was surfing sites and answering email I’d occasionally switch tabs and respond to a discussion on my lot or post a question of my own. I have no idea if I made any money doing that yesterday because they haven’t updated the earnings section yet, but many members say they make $3 to $8 a day doing that and I saw some that said they made $40 per day.

I think I’ll try this for a week or so and see what kind of earnings I make while posting on the forums. I’ll let you know how it works out.
