Blogexplosion what’s happened to you?

September 5, 2006 by Tricia

First question: Where are the new owners of what used to be a very good blog traffic exchange? The new owner(s) hasn’t introduced him or herself yet to all of the members.

Next- What’s going on with thumbnail pictures of our blogs? I have four blogs running on Bl0gexplosion and only two of them have thumbnails right now. I stupidly decided that I wanted to change the thumbnail for Breath of life, oh, about THREE weeks ago. I’ve submitted my request twice and it still hasn’t been changed.

Might I suggest that when a person requests a new thumbnail, that the current thumbnail is not removed until the new one is ready to replace it. Wouldn’t that be so much better than staring at a blank white thumbnail that gives a viewer no idea of what the blog is about?

The other site of mine that doesn’t have a thumbnail is Odd Planet. You see, I recently moved Odd Planet from Bl0gexplosions blog hosting site Bl0gcharm to my own domain. I did this for a few reasons. 1. so I could have more control over my posts such as setting up automated posts. 2. So that my visitors could actually comment easily. The bl0gcharm comment system is terrible.

My third reason for moving Odd Planet from bl0gcharm to my own domain is a big one. When bl0gcharm started up it offered a small incentive – bloggers could make some money by having their blogs on bl0gcharm. That sounded interesting so I decided to create a blog there in early February and that’s when Odd Planet was born. It took me until early July to make $10 on bl0gcharm. $10 is the minimum amount of money that they will pay out to your paypal account. I requested my payout and it said pending. Alright, I can wait a day or two.

Nearly two months have gone by since I made my first request for a Bl0gcharm payout. I’ve sent in two support tickets about my problem and they haven’t been answered. Not a peep. I just sent in a third support ticket about this issue and I also sent one in about the lengthy wait for thumbnails.

Has anybody else noticed that their sites aren’t getting as many views as they used to on Bl0gexplosion? I’m pretty sure that my sites used to get at least 25 hits a day, but lately the highest amount is perhaps 12 hits each and often less than that. What’s up with that?

I’m not trying to run down Bl0gexplosion. It’s a good service and I’ve met a lot of great people and gained several regular visitors through them, but it’s hit a lot of bumps in the road lately and I’d love to know how the new owner is planning on addressing those problems.

Has anyone else run into problems with Bl0gexplosion lately? Have you had any response from the support team at all?

Interesting Sites

August 25, 2006 by Tricia

As I’ve been sitting here surfing I’ve come across several new sites in the past week. I’d like to share a few with you.

All links open in a new tab.

Flip Cancer the Bird:

Do you know someone that has Cancer or who is a survivor? Did someone you know pass away because they had Cancer? Well here’s your chance to flip cancer the bird. Submit your Flip Cancer the bird photo to this site and they will donate .50 cents to cancer research.

I’m going to send in a photo. Heck I can send in a ton of photos since I know several people who have had cancer or who have died because of it. Some of the photos are hilarious and some are kind of sad. Visit the site and send in your photo showing how angry you are at Cancer.

Bloggy Gossip:

This is a wonderful new site that passes along information from our Blogging world. This discuss many different topics ranging from bloggers who are trying to raise donation money for a good cause, to new blogrolls and memes that have started up, and sites that are doing interesting activities that their visitors can participate in. Check it out and feel free to tell them about your site if you have something interesting happening.

Have you come across any fantastic sites lately? Why not help them get some attention and mention them in one of your posts.

Pain Pain go AWAY!

August 22, 2006 by Tricia

I feel like crap.

Fever, Chills, abdominal pain, bad, bad abdominal pain.

I’ve been feeling really off since the two Weddings a week and a half ago. I guess four long days of activities were just too much for me. However, on Tuesday I felt the worst that I’ve felt in a several months and I still feel that bad.

Have you ever had a pain so bad that you just wish that you could cut off the part that’s hurting? Say your leg, your knee, your wrist? Well, I’ve got a pain in my stomach right now that feels like a hand reaching just below my right ribs, as if it’s trying to rip and organ out. The pain in my lower right side feels like someones kicking me and stabbing me at the same time.

When the pain gets this bad I sometimes wish I could cut out the painful parts. Yeah, that would help for oh, about a minute, until I either bled to death or until the pain from the wounds set in. So, no, I wouldn’t do that, but I sometimes wish it were that easy to make it go away.

I have pain medication, and I’ve been taking it, but when the pain gets this bad it just doesn’t help. It doesn’t even knock me out so that I can try to sleep through it.

What really sucks about this is that I’m supposed to be going out of town on Friday for the weekend. We’re supposed to go to Chicago to see Bruce Cockburn play in a small venue on Saturday night. We’ve got some friends going with us so I guess if I end up not going Chris will be ok with the drive, but I wanna go. I’ve never been to Chicago. I know I won’t be there for long, but I want to see whatever I can see while I’m there.

I’ve also been meaning to write a number of posts for all of my blogs so that things will keep moving along here while I’m away (see positive thoughts – I’m writing as If I’m going right?). Unfortunately, I just haven’t felt up to writing.

I do have a nice series of photos on Breath of Life right now that I’ve set up to automatically post each day for the next two weeks. This weeks series is photos of Toronto’s Kensington Market. It’s a very interesting place to visit, and I managed to get some great shots while I was there the Saturday before last. I’d love it if you would check out the daily photos and let me know what you think of them.

I’ve also been busy over the last few days working on a new theme for Odd Planet and creating a new home for it too. Krome, formerly of Kromes Obsession, and now from Sugar Vamp and I’ll Dream, had offered to create a new WordPress site for me some time ago. I had been thinking of taking her up on her offer in order to create a collaborative site that I’d been discussing with a few interested parties, but over the weekend when I got it in my head to move Odd Planet, I decided to contact Krome and ask her to do a theme for Odd Planet. She said she would, but she wanted me to hunt for photos or pictures that I would want to use in the theme myself so that I’d be happy with the results.

Well, I went hunting for pictures to use in the theme and the next thing I knew I was designing Odd Planets new home myself. Now I’m in the process of moving all the posts from the original site to the new site. I hope to have it done before the weekend, as I’d like to be able to set up some posts to automatically post while I’m playing in Chicago. Playing – yeah right, that’s hard to believe with the way I’m feeling now. Anyway, if you’d like to check out what I’ve been up to visit Odd Planets new home and let me know what you think. The sidebar isn’t sitting right if you look at it in Internet Explorer, but it’s working for all the rest of the browsers.

I’m off to take another pain pill in the hopes that this one works. Wish me luck!

Winsome Gunning art Walk

August 8, 2006 by Tricia

Say hello to my new renter!

It’s been a while since I’ve actually rented out space and I’m very please to have Winsome Gunning share some space with me this week.

The Winsome Gunning Art Walk blog is a showcase of personal art work by a very talented artist. Along with each piece of Art work displayed the artist included a personal introspective about the art work, or what was happening in her life at the time that brought about the piece being displayed. You can also learn more about various artist that she admires when reading her posts.

In her own words:

The paintings I produce are about working from the creative spirit within.

At different times themes emerge which I feel drawn to develop but always my work is about discovering this spirit and listening to its promptings.

It is a daily walk to keep myself clear of the blocks which stop me connecting to this creative flow.

Please stop by and say hello to the Artist. I know she’d love a visit. While you’re there check out her archives and see for yourself how talented she really is.

Thanks!
