A world without technology?

November 1, 2006 by Tricia

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to live without all of the technology that surrounds us today?

No Internet, no computers, no Television. Think that’s bad enough – what if we didn’t have electricity either?

My first thought when I thought about living without all of the technology that surrounds us was that we’d have so much more time. Somehow though I don’t think we would.

We’d have to work so much harder to get all the things done that we need to do. Washing clothes would take half a day if done by hand. Cooking meals would take longer and forget storing much food without refrigeration. Geez even bathing would be a chore. Imagine having to heat all that water before you could have a comfortable bath.

Have you ever spent any time thinking about how much harder life would be without some of the modern conveniences that we’ve grown so used to?

Sure, we could live without TV and the Internet. Many of us wouldn’t like to live without them but the lose of them wouldn’t be as drastic as the lose of electricity. Right?

What your thoughts?

What’s on your mind

October 30, 2006 by Tricia

I was just looking at my site stats on statcounter.com. When I go there I look not only at the last hundred visitors in my log files, but also at the recent search terms that have been used to reach my page. The following search term is what I found this time round:

What if someone says they want to eat you like a tub of ice cream?

>Huh? What did I ever write about that would make someone searching for answers to that very interesting question end up here? Let see? Oh, their search brought them to a post I wrote titled “Why do guys always want to get into my bathing suit?”

Well, that did end up being a very popular post, as it seems to come up in searches several times each week. It’s about a former boyfriend dressing up in my bathing suit – you should read it.

Nowhere in that post do I talk about eating – I mention the word dinner – but not eating, or being eaten! There’s nothing about ice cream there either, but I do talk about a tub, however it’s a Hot Tub. So I guess dinner and tub made my post relevant in their search? Geez it don’t take much does it? Actually the comment section is pretty entertaining for that post and one of the comments talks about ice cream.

What do you say? If someone told you that they wanted to eat you like a tub of ice cream what would you say?

If someones going to search for something like that here we might as well give them an answer. So tell me what you would say. Nothing too vulgar please.

Affiliate Marketing Forum

October 30, 2006 by Tricia

As many of you know I’ve been off work now for close to eleven months. I’ve been searching high and low for different ways to make money online- legally of course – and I’ve had some success in my quest.

Now, as I was surfing today for yet more opportunities to either promote my sites through search engine optimization or ways to make some extra income I came across the Affiliate Marketing Forums – Revenue Source. The site is a forum who’s main purpose is to provide a central place for bloggers to find affiliate, marketing and SEO opportunities.

I know that many of my readers, as well as several of the blogs that I see when I’m surfing through blog sites have affiliate programs on their sites – programs like linkshare, text link ads, google adsense and many more. Well, this forum discusses many of these programs and I think this would be a good place for any blogger who is looking to promote their site to check out. What could be better than talking with other bloggers about their experiences with these programs?

Piggybob personal accounting system

October 30, 2006 by Tricia

Piggybob – don’t you just love that name? Yes, but what is it? Piggybob is a personal accounting software program that I just found as I was surfing the net. It’s a user friendly personal finance and time manager.

With this software you can keep track of all of your income and your various expenses in a simple and easy manner. It looks like it’s easier to use than other programs that I’ve tried such as Microsoft Money. You simply file in the pop up boxes when you want to add an expense or add income and the system keeps track of your finances for you.

The software also comes with a calendar to which you can add anything from friends and relatives birthdays, important meetings, appointments or due dates for bills that must be paid. You can also set reminder alarms for any of these calendar related events.

This software looks like it would be great for anyone from someone who wants to keep track of their finances at home to a small business owner. You can download a fully functional 30 day free trial from the website and see for yourself if this simple personal accounting system suits your needs.

Write a disclosure policy for your site

October 29, 2006 by Tricia

I just came across a website that will help you create a disclosure policy for your website. I think this is a great idea for anyone that has a blog or website, particularly if you use your website to help you make some money. Do you have ads on your site? Do you take a fee for links in your sidebar? Do you get paid to write posts? If you do, then you might also be very interested in writing up a disclosure policy.

I just created my own Disclosure policy using the Disclosure Policy Generator. The generator was very easy to use – 6 steps I believe.

Simply choose the statements that best describe your sites policy get to the end and click finish. Then all you need to do is copy and paste the disclosure policy that you’ve pasted into a post or a page on your site. You can change the wording once you copy the disclosure that you’ve created to suit your sides description better. I might tinker with mine a little bit but if you’d like to read it it’s in the sidebar on the left under “Other Pages” – > Second Thoughts -> Click on the + sign beside the words Second Thoughts and you’ll find all the pages on my site – along with the Disclosure Policy. Read it and let me know what you think of it. I think it’s a great way of being open and honest with your readers.
