The Holiday Survival Guide will help keep you from overeating this holiday season

December 7, 2007 by Tricia

The holidays are a stressful time of year for a lot of people. I think most people feel that this time of year is rush, rush, rush as they try to get their holiday shopping done, attend work related holiday parties and plan and attend family related gatherings. Not to mention all of the cooking that must be done to prepare for these gatherings!

I don’t know about you, but even though I love each and every family member, the holidays sometimes bring out the worst in me. My sister and I are often cranky and this can lead to an argument or hurt feelings.

For some, all the stress at this time of year and dealing with family dynamics can lead to overeating. It’s certainly easy to overeat with the wonderful supply of tasty food items all around isn’t it?

Lucky for us, the man who wrote the best selling book Shrink Yourself, Dr. Roger Gould, has recently launched a new website that is called the Holiday Survival Guide. The site is completely free to use and the tools on the site which include 7 Ways Your Family Makes You Fat are designed to help you deal with the stress of the holiday season as well as unique family dynamics. The type of dynamics that only add to the stress and possibly overeating!

You’ll find tips and insightful information on the site that will help you prepare for this stressful time of year. You’ll learn how to pinpoint the issues and challenging situations that might lead to overeating and weight gain as well as learn how to deal with these issues via personalized solutions. You’ll even be able to apply these techniques to your day to day life.

Visit the site today and learn how to lessen your stress and prevent overeating during the holidays.

Sourcetix has a wide selection of tickets for concerts, theatre and sporting events

December 7, 2007 by Tricia

Tired of sitting at home each night watching television? Not interested in any of the latest movies in the theaters? Well, when was the last time you treated yourself to a live event?

Sourcetix.com has a fantastic inventory of tickets for events such as live theatre, concerts, and sporting events. Say there was a concert that you wanted to attend, but you’ve heard that the tickets are sold out. Check Sourcetix.com. They often have tickets for sold out or hard to get tickets for events and the prices are quite reasonable.

This site just got a make over so not only is it easy to navigate, but it’s also quite pleasant to view as well. You can search for an event to attend by looking up your city, or you can pick the category that you are interested in.

In the sports category you’ll find listings for all of the major sporting events like NHL games, NFL, MLB, NBA, MLS, PGA, WWE, Nascar and boxing. If you’re looking for Concert Tickets you can choose from categories such as top sellers, kids favorites, top venues and Las Vegas shows. Theatre categories range from Cirque Du Soleil tickets, to ballet, broadway, off Broadway, Musicals, plays and opera.

You’re bound to find an event that you’ll enjoy. Perhaps you could make it a family outing or a special romantic evening with your loved one.

Sourcetix.com is also having a promotion. Right now you can get 5% off the cost of your ticket purchase if you use the promotion code “source07“. The prices are already reasonable, but who would turn down an extra 5% off the price? I know I wouldn’t!

Here’s an idea – Tickets to a concert, sporting event or the Theatre might make a nice gift for someone close to you as well.

I’d love to go to the Rodeo

December 6, 2007 by Tricia

When we picked up our puppy Midnight two weeks ago she was being kept in a pen in a barn. Did I tell you that there were also three horses on the other side of the barn? Absolutely gorgeous horses.

I’ve always loved horses. When I was growing up we had a cottage on my mothers family’s old farm land and when I was very young there were still horses, cows and pigs there.

I must admit that I haven’t spent much time around farm animals in a long while, but I did enjoy seeing the horses in that barn.

When I was growing up my mother used to take me to horse shows. She loved the jumping, but I was always partial to the Rodeos. I guess I loved the action and perhaps all those cute cowboys too.

In their later years my parents were winter Texans and they attended the Houston Rodeo a few times.

Did you know that the Houston Rodeo is rated as the largest rodeo in the world? Over one million people attend each year. It’s so big that each night after each days Rodeo events there’s a concert feature Country, Rock n’ Roll, Hip Hop and and Latin music stars and bands. I doubt very much that my parents ever attended any concerts, but if I got a chance to get Houston Rodeo concert tickets I’d see a band. My preference would of course be a rock band.

Have you ever been to the Houston Rodeo? Did you enjoy yourself? If you’ve been to the Rodeo did you also attend a concert?

I was looking up information on the Rodeo and this years concerts will be by Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), Rascal Flatts, and there’s still a number of concert performers to be announced. Check it out for yourself – perhaps you’ll go to the Rodeo this March.

Enough of the cold weather – hurry up summer!

Wordless Wednesday

IMG_1510

You know … I just realized that today is Thursday. I’ve been so busy with my puppy lately and so tired as a result that I seem to have lost track of the days!

I’m already longing for summer. It’s been so cold here in the last week! Lots of snow, ice and rain and temperatures below freezing most of the time. Yuck.

I can’t wait for Spring and then Summer … especially now that we have a dog. The beach will become one of our regular destinations to take the dog I’m sure. It will be fun to walk along the boardwalk and the sandy beach with Midnight.

Being a Labrador Retriever I’m certain she’ll love the beach too, and I won’t be the least bit surprised if she does some swimming in the lake either.

Infomercials – Do you buy the products you see advertised?

December 6, 2007 by Tricia

As usual I’m up late watching TV and trying to dodge the infomercials.

Do you watch infomercials late at night?

I remember telling my niece that the one time I watched a whole infomercial I ended up buying the product! Not that I normally would do that, but it was the Magic Bullet blender and obviously it was a good infomercial – it got me to buy the blender didn’t it?

I do love my Magic Bullet. I use it mainly to make fantastic fruit smoothies. I don’t make them often but when I do they are fantastic … especially with a little rum or vodka in them.

I often wonder about the ginsu knives that I see advertised. Are they really as sharp and as good as advertised? I think those commercials have been on TV my whole life! Why don’t I already have some Ginsu knives?

I really enjoy cooking and baking and yes, I do have a nice set of knives, but when you do a lot of work in the kitchen you often realize that you could use a special knife or another item to help you get things done faster or better.

Do you ever buy products that you see advertised in infomercials or perhaps on the shopping channels? Have you been happy with your purchases?
