Craving Sheppards pie for some reason

April 20, 2008 by Tricia

Well I was hoping I would have passed out by now considering I’m sick and I’ve been up for at least 36 hours, but I think I need to eat something before my body will finally give up and fight and let me conk out.

I’m starving!

I thawed some chicken breasts earlier today as Chris and I were talking about having a barbecue, but considering I’m half brain dead I think we’ll save the chicken for tomorrow dinner and have something a little easier for dinner.

We have Presidents Choice Sheppard’s Pie in the freezer. I don’t know why but I’ve had a craving for that lately. My mom used to make it at least two or three times a month when I was a kid and since I didn’t really like hamburger it wasn’t one of my favorite meals, but these days it’s appealing for some reason.

We don’t eat much meat, particularly red meat, even though with my Crohn’s I probably should eat it more often as it’s a good source of iron and folic acid. Nutrients that I’m low on.

Hey maybe that’s why I’m craving Sheppard’s pie? Ah … it’s starting to make sense now.

So what did you have for dinner? A home cooked meal, barbecue or perhaps dinner in a restaurant?

I’m So Stuffed!

April 7, 2008 by Tricia

Chris and I went grocery shopping in the early evening and we came back with fresh Halibut steaks, new asparagus, corn, fresh organic strawberries and salad fixings. We also bought some wine – a Pignot Grigio.

So guess what we had for dinner?

I marinated the Halibut in a mixture of chopped chives – fresh from the garden, dill, paprika and a tiny bit of cayenne pepper and a splash of the white wine.

As the fish marinated, I prepared the asparagus by rinsing them and snapping off the woody ends (they were young asparagus so the ends were pretty good). I then placed them in a microwave steamer container. When I cooked them I put them in the microwave for about four minutes, took them out, drained the tiny bit of water that was in the container, added a tiny bit of margarine and a splash of lemon juice and microwaved them again for 30 seconds. Yummy.

I shucked the husk off of two corn and steamed them in the microwave as well (5 minutes).

As if the fish that Chris eventually barbecued on the grill, the asparagus and corn weren’t enough I also made a salad with fresh chives, green onion, sweet onion, organic salad mix, tomato, radish, cucumber and tomato.

We also had a glass or two of that lovely wine and I’m a little light headed right now.

For desert we finished off some fresh pineapple that we already had. I chopped it up and mixed it with some of the strawberries that we’d purchased at the grocery store.

The meal was delicious, but it was much larger than we normally have these days. So I’m stuffed.

I think I might head for bed soon!

What did you have for dinner?

BTW Our puppy got to taste a few new foods tonight. We gave her a small piece of strawberry, fish, and radish. She seemed to love them. We also gave her some cucumber, salad leaves (spinach and lettuce) and a tiny piece of pineapple. She’d had a taste of each of those before. She’s not big on the leaves but seems to really like cucumber.

I’m a post-a-holic – Stop me!

March 16, 2008 by Tricia

Oh my gosh. I think after this I’m going to turn off my laptop and not turn it back on again until sometime tomorrow.

I’ve done something like 22 or 24 posts today on many of my blogs and my fingers are about ready to fall off. My wrists too!

I’ve been in the kitchen for the last 45 minutes to an hour getting our late dinner ready. I made homemade spaghetti sauce and of course spaghetti. The sauce needs just a little longer to blend and then we’ll sit down for a very late meal.

It’s a good thing Chris has tomorrow off since he’s going to be up later than normal thanks to me being behind on dinner.

I’m just starving too!

So much for updating the WP version on all the Feverishthoughts blogs today huh? Tomorrow …

I have a fantastic post coming up for you. I’ll be auto-publishing it at 6 a.m. Try to remember to come back as it will be worth it. It’s something totally unbelievable!

Ok. I’m slowly backing away from the computer now …

I’m sure there are better things to put up your nose

March 16, 2008 by Tricia

The other day we ordered one of my favorite take-out foods. We ordered Greek. I just love it!

Unfortunately when I was eating my salad … actually trying to get the final bit of dressing and feta from the bottom of the container since it tasted so good – I ended up inhaling the salad dressing.

Let me tell you. Salad dressing with tiny chunks of feta cheese inhaled up your nose .. well backwards since I must have coughed it up there – is absolutely no fun.

What’s the strangest thing that you’ve accidentally snorted up your nose.

I got free samples through mysavings.com

January 29, 2008 by Tricia

Do you remember about a month ago I told you about a site called mysavings.com where you could get Free Stuff? Well I’d like to tell you about my experience.

I spent some time on the site going through all the different free samples that I could send for. Of course I couldn’t request all of them because some of the free samples were only for those in the US. The Mysavings.com site did make it easy for me to search for free samples that I qualified for though as there are Country icons at the top of each page. I simply clicked on the Canadian flag and it brought up items that I could request.

I can’t remember all the items I requested but I do remember asking for a free sample of Greenies – a dog treat that’s good for their teeth and that I think freshens up dog breath, a sample or two of various dog foods, three different Oil of Olay products and a sample of Garnier Fructus Shampoo or conditioner. All of those samples have arrived with the exception of the dog food samples. I’m sure they’ll come. Some of the items that I was requesting clearly stated that the samples wouldn’t arrive for four to six weeks.

Another thing that I liked about the free sample section of the site is that you can search for items by major category or by using the search box. Once you find a free sample that you’d like to apply for you just click on the link and below the sample description and link to product site you’ll see a comment section where those that have also requested the item can talk about their experiences. I found this helpful because there were a few products that people stated they’d requested months before and the samples simply hadn’t arrived. That saved me time as I decided not to even bother trying to request those samples.

If you visit the site you’ll discover that you can get all kinds of free samples. There are free samples for baby or children’s products, pet products, automotive, beauty, health and makeup, college and students, magazines, home and garden, office supplies and more.

Mysavings.com isn’t just a site with links to offers for free samples. No, not by a long shot. You’ll also find free online coupons such as printable grocery coupons, coupon codes to use at online stores, and coupons for restaurants too.

They add new coupons and free samples weekly so it’s good to visit regularly. You’ll get to try samples of products that you’ve perhaps been thinking of buying and you can save a lot of money with all those coupons.

Visit mysavings.com today and see what free samples you can get or what coupons could save you money!
