Online insurance Quotes for the UK

January 9, 2007 by Tricia

I remember when we were looking for insurance for our house. To finalize our mortgage we had to have home insurance, and to get home insurance from the company that we finally settled on we had to have a home inspection to be sure the house had no major safety issues that might affect our insurance premiums.

Unfortunately this is all part of purchasing a home and being a home owner. You need insurance. It protects you, and it obviously makes banks that provide the loan for your mortgage feel better about securing the deal. The banks interests are protected by your home insurance too.

I wish that while I was hunting for home insurance that I’d stumbled across a site such as Insure121. This site has information on all kinds of insurance products from car insurance, home insurance and even Pet insurance.

This site has information for people living in the UK and it provides quotes from companies offering the insurance type of your choice. For example, if you are looking for home insurance, just click on the home insurance tab and you’ll be presented with a number of companies that offer home insurance and a description of what each company provides. I think this is a great site. I only wish that I could find a Canadian company that would let me compare insurance companies and get the best quotes.

Find work with CSI

January 9, 2007 by Tricia

I have to tell one of our friends about the CSI site. Our friend is a Civil Engineer and I believe he’s been unhappy with the company that he’s currently working for. CSI, or Civil Search International is a company who’s 14 dedicated recruiters work to match Civil Engineers with Civil Engineering Firms. This might be a great company for our friend to register with as he might be able to get a job that suits him.

According to the site the CSI team has quite a bit of accumulated experience behind them. Many of the 14 professional recruiters have 10, 20 and even 30 years of experience in executive management, civil engineering recruiting. All combined they have over 60 years worth of recruiting experience.

CSI believes that they have the most comprehensive list of civil engineering PE’s and EIT’s in the industry and this enables them to make over 25,000 calls through their data base of prospects as they work to match civil engineers with companies seeking to employ them. They customize each search to fit their clients needs.

They work with many of the top engineering firms in the US, both regional and international firms. The firms that CSI deals with have great projects, and provide excellent salaries and benefits.

Satisfied Clients Including Many of the Top Engineering Firms in the United States: Currently, we represent over 50 leading Civil Engineering firms, many are international leaders while others are top regional firms. These firms are working on the best projects, have outstanding management teams and offer excellent salaries/benefits as well as a chance for rapid promotion. After spending the time to get to know our client’s needs, we then prepare a detailed job order before beginning the outbound dialing process.

If you are a civil engineer why don’t you visit the CSI site and see if they have opportunities that suit your experience or future goals? You might just end up with a job that you’re happier with and perhaps better pay too.

Silver and other precious metals as an investment

January 5, 2007 by Tricia

It seems these days that I’m all about money in one way or another – finding good deals so we can save our limited income, trying to put some funds aside in a high interest account in the bank, thinking about stocks, bonds and mutual funds, and now I’m looking at Monex Deposit Company. You see they sell silver coin and other precious metals as a form of investment.

Apparently world demand for silver now exceeds annual production of the precious metal.

It’s a worthy product to invest in now before stores of the stock piles of this metal go down further. MDC allows you to purchase silver and have it delivered for safe keeping to an independent bank or depository. The silver comes in coin, with currency value, or ingot form.

As I said I haven’t decided yet how I might invest my money, but I know that investing in a diverse amount of products or companies is usually a good idea, so perhaps one day I’ll have myself a little stockpile of silver or other precious metals.

No more house guests

January 5, 2007 by Tricia

My home was invaded on Monday, New Years day, by my husband’s brother and his son. They’d come up from Chicago for a family visit last Friday and they decided to stay at our house for a few days while they were in Canada.

They weren’t supposed to come over until Tuesday, and I was not feeling well on Monday when they arrived. No I didn’t party on New Years – I stayed home by myself because I wasn’t well. Anyway, we had a nice time Monday evening and made plans to go to a hockey game on Tuesday evening.

Tuesday night I was so ill that I was actually falling asleep during a hockey game. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen asleep in public let alone at a hockey game! This one had brawls every few minutes too. I have no idea why I was so sleepy but I was, and I found myself nodding off several times. Very strange.

The evening was ruined at the end. My husbands brothers 18 year old daughter was flying in from Chicago that evening. Chris went to pick her up after the hockey game. They called her on the cell phone just as she arrived to find out what terminal she was in. Toronto has three terminals so it’s important to know which one your landing in or picking someone up from. Anyway, she had no clue, so Chris asked her to ask someone and call him back when she was getting her bags.

Well, she never did ask anyone. I had to figure out which terminal she was at by looking up the airlines on the net here at home. So it was a mess of phone calls back and forth and this girl doesn’t like to wait. of course when I looked at her paperwork when she got her it did say what terminal she was landing in. She was just being too dumb or stubborn to look at it.

Now if only that was all that went wrong. It wasn’t. The airline lost her bags! So when Chris and his nephew arrived back at the house – about two hours later than they should have she was in a horrible mood. So bad in fact that she didn’t even say hello to me. That really ticked me off because I was the only person she hadn’t seen in months and she couldn’t even say hello?

It’s not that she doesn’t like me or anything. She was just in a mood. She’s a real princess that one. If she doesn’t get what she wants she whines!

The rest of their visit was ok. We went out to dinner on Wednesday night, and the guys watched some of the World Junior hockey games that we’d recorded on the DVR earlier that day. Speaking of which the Gold match is on today!

Yesterday I had yet another doctors appointment in the morning. Chris went with me and when we came back the gang was just getting up. We’d found out the night before that the airport had found my nieces bags, and they were delivered to the house around noon on Thursday. My niece was finally happy. They left a while after the bags arrived and I went back to bed for a couple of hours because I’d only slept two hours the night before.

I’m just so dragged out. I’m in pain, not feeling well, and I’m totally exhausted but I can’t sleep because of the pain. This was not the time for me to have three extra people in my house.

I have a feeling we’ll be going out of town tonight. Chris’ brother is going to drive back to Chicago on Saturday, so he’s spending Friday night at their parents house, and I think we might go there for a final visit before they go. All I can say though is that if I’m still feeling like crap I’m not going.

Investing money and saving for the future

January 4, 2007 by Tricia

I have only one experience with buy stalk and it dates back to the days when I first owned my now closed Jewelry business. I was ill informed at the time and purchased what was suggested by the traveling “stock” salesman that came to my businesses door. Now I’m starting to think more about investments and setting myself up nicely for retirement. I know that retirement is a long way off but if I don’t begin to work on it soon I won’t have much when the time comes.

So I’ve decided to start looking at stock options, but first I need to learn more about them, and which companies are worth purchasing stock in. That’s where the stock options newsletter comes in from PowerOptions. They offer members a letter filled with information and resources about stock offerings and other important information about purchasing or selling stocks. The site is also full of resources that I can browse through in order to learn more about trading my stock options.

They also have a system that they call SmartSearchXL technology that allows members to find, compare, and analyze 2,900 + stocks, and 190,000+ options in order to find investments that suit the members needs. Their system will help you find the highest return on option trades.

I haven’t signed up for a membership yet but I might sign up for their 14 day free trial. I don’t even need to use my credit card when I sign up. I like that.
