Back when I started my Jewelry business

January 29, 2007 by Tricia

I used to always be terrified of going to the bank to ask for a loan. Why? Well I needed my very first loan when I was just 20 years old. I was starting my own business and the machine that I needed to buy was going for $13,500 at this used equipment auction I was about to attend. I needed to secure my loan and hope that bidding didn’t go over the estimated price for the diamond cutting machine I needed to start my business.

So not only was I about to get my first loan, but I was also about to attend my first auction in order to bid on something that would change my life. I had to win the auction. I wouldn’t have won it either if I hadn’t brought along some very experienced jeweler friends who talked my competition out of bidding higher when the machines price got up to the top amount I could afford.

Getting that first loan was difficult. I had to present a business plan to the loan officer at the bank and convince them that I would succeed. I didn’t even have an established credit basis at the time either being so young. I think I’d only received my first credit card less than a year before starting my business.

The first year running my business was rough. I had to establish a customer base. It wasn’t that hard because I had already built a name in the jewelry trade, and my sister had an established business as an engraver and she plugged my business whenever she could. Still, I had to prove myself.

I wasn’t earning enough money in that first year either. I ended up running my business 4 days a week, working at another jewelers store the other three days of the week, and working security at the convention center several evenings most weeks. I was also doing extra work in the movies and commercials around that time as well. I was a busy bee!

Still it seemed that I never had enough money and soon I was buying groceries and even toilet paper with my credit card. I’ll tell you right now – when you have to purchase your basic necessities with a credit card, and don’t have enough money to at least pay the minimum each month you’re headed for trouble.

It didn’t take long before I’d run up my credit card and ended up losing it. Of course by then my business was doing fairly well and I wasn’t working the extra jobs anymore. Well, I still did some extra work from time to time, but my business kept me working 12 hour days most of the year, and 18 hour days around the Christmas season.

I was able to pay off my debts by working hard but my credit was ruined. It took me a long time to re-establish my credit rating again.

I’m telling you my story so that perhaps you don’t get into the same kinds of trouble. Learn more about maintaining your credit rating or fixing your bad credit rating at Creditloan.com. You’ll find pages and pages of information on that site about credit and loans. Articles about Bad Credit Auto Loans and free debt consolidation will help you understand what you can do to secure a loan and begin to improve your credit rating.

Valentines day is coming

January 28, 2007 by Tricia

Did you realize that it will be Valentines Day in just a little more than two weeks? Have you thought about what you are going to do with that special person in your life? Maybe go out to dinner or take a romantic get away to a secluded cabin? At the very least I hope you plan on giving him or her some beautiful flowers and a card.

Dot Flowers has a beautiful selection of flowers, baskets and even gourmet gift baskets. They even offer same day delivery if you happen to forget that I just reminded you about Valentines two weeks in advance! LOL You’re not going to forget are you?

If my husband were going to order something for me from Dot Flowers I’d love to get one of their flower and chocolate combos. It’s the perfect gift. Everyone knows I love flowers- just read this site! Plus if you’ve been reading for a while you also know that one of my second favorite things is chocolate. I love chocolate. I think most women do, which is why I think the combo gift of flowers and chocolates would make a great gift.

Since they deliver all over the US you could get flowers for your mother or even business clients- although not necessarily for Valentines. Check out the site and see if I’m right about their lovely selection of flower gift ideas.

It’s so sad to see teen drug addicts

January 26, 2007 by Tricia

As an ER nurse I’ve seen more than my fair share of people who are battling with drug and alcohol addictions. While it’s bad enough to see adults who have addictions that in many cases have pretty much ruined their lives and their health, it’s even worse when I’ve had to care for a teenager with an addiction problem.

As you can imagine, since I work in the emergency department many of the these kids that come in with symptoms of alcohol or drug abuse have actually taken it too far and have over dosed. They are in life threatening conditions.

Some times the parents of these kids knew what was happening to their child but didn’t know where to turn for help or even tried to manage the problem in their own way at home. In a few cases the parents hadn’t realized that their child was in trouble until their kid ended up in the ER.

It’s for these reasons that I’m pleased to tell you about the Echo Malibu clinic. They specialize in teen drug rehab. They give these adolescents the highest quality professional care available, and also provide 24 hour support for the families of these children since addiction affects the whole family, not just the person with the problem.

If you suspect that your child or someone you knows child has an addiction problem please seek help through a clinic such as the Echo Malibu clinic before it’s too late.

Want to date a Millionaire?

January 25, 2007 by Tricia

There’s a dream that almost every little girl has when they are young. The dream involves a handsome man, a huge house and the money to buy whatever they want when they want it. Usually that means that the little girl dreams of marrying a millionaire or a rockstar or an actor someday when she’s old enough. A man who can give her everything her little heart desires.

Hold you your hand if you grew up having that dream every once in a while? I see a lot of hands out there.

Well, how would you like a chance to date a millionaire? You can if you visit this new completely free dating site called Dating Millionaires. You can meet others on the site who are interested in dating millionaires and you can most definitely find some millionaires that are looking for dates.

It can’t hurt to explore the site if you are looking for a date. You might just meet the man of your dreams, and he might even have money to spend that would make all those old childhood dreams come true. Now wouldn’t that be nice?

Sometimes I wonder about my husband

January 23, 2007 by Tricia

Yesterday, while I was still sleeping Chris was up and about. He decided to get some errands done.

I don’t know which order he did these in, but it doesn’t matter, I wasn’t all that thrilled when I found out about them.

One of his errands was to go to our hair dresser to get his haircut. He didn’t need a haircut, and without me there to tell her not to do it she gave him a BEAN SHAVE. Ok it’s not that bad, but it’s short, short, short. I’m not enthused. Plus, we usually go together. Yeah we’re one of those couples that do most everything together.

So now, when I need to get my hair cut he won’t need a cut.

He put us out of sync!

Chris also went and got his nails done. Yes you heard me right. I said he got his nails done.

The nail thing began last April.

You see he’s a guitar player and he’s quite serious about his music. Many of the top guitar players either coat their nails to make them stronger or wear fake nails and use them when they are picking. They holding up better than real unaltered nails in most cases.

My husband actually envies my nails. They grow fast and they are rock hard. I have to be careful that I don’t accidentally tap someone with my nail or hit them as I’m walking by as it really hurts.

So … last April he finally decide to get fake nails, but only on his right hand. You can read about my reaction to his fake nails if you’d like.

I think he’s had his nails done at least four times now. I’m slowly getting used to it but I still think it looks weird. I also don’t really like it when he touches me with those nails. It just feels weird. Do guys feel that way when they are touched by a womans fake nails?

Chris is funny. Over the past year he’s been very fixated on his nails and has been trying to get them in better shape. He’s got a few little bottles of nail conditioners and clear nail polish too! Plus he’s always filing the nails to shape them (files them wrong in my opinion, maybe that’s why they feel so darn weird), or filing callus’ off his hands.

I don’t mind nice smooth hands but the nails stuff is making me crazy.

I guess I just have to face the fact that I married an odd guy. At least he keeps me amused.
