Cool Parents Buy Bedding by VisionBedding

September 13, 2007 by Tricia

This is the time of year when many of us start to think about gifts for the holidays. Not only that, since we are indoors more often many of us begin to think of ways to redecorate our homes too.

If you are a parent you might be thinking of ways to change the style of one of your kids rooms. Perhaps you want to redecorate the baby room in a style more appropriate for your young child, or maybe you have a pre-teen and you’d like to give their room a more mature look? Certainly replacing the bedding will give a room a new fresh look.

Whenever I decide to give one of our bedrooms a new look I start with the bedding. I pick out a bedspread, or duvet with a lovely design and then I pick out accessories and even the wall color, if I’m repainting, using colors that I’ve picked from the new bedding. That way everything is beautifully co-ordinated.

One great place to visit when looking for bedding for teens is VisionBedding. They have a wide variety of unique designs from which to chose.

queencoralflower.jpg The bedding designs at VisionBedding are unique because it’s photo bedding. That’s right – photo bedding. There are several pre-made designs to chose from like the coral bedding included on the right, or you can personalize bedspreads, duvet covers, throw pillows, pillow shams and blankets with your own favorite photograph.

Wouldn’t you just be the coolest parent if you re-did your teenagers bedroom with some of the fantastic pre-made Teen Bedding designs from VisionBedding that reflected your teens favorite things such as sports, hobbies, animals or something else they really enjoy?

largequeenraceison.jpg Some of the pre-made teen bedding designs include car, BMX, basketball, butterfly, Asian, artistic, flower, race car, football, surfer, heart, horse, landscape, and teen girls bedding plus many more great styles.

If the pre-made bedding designs aren’t enough to chose from you can always upload a high quality digital photo or photos and have VisionBedding create custom bedding for you. You might choose from a collage of photos or one single photo to create a beautiful design on a bedspread, duvet or sham or pillow cover.

VisionBedding states that they strive to offer designs to fit anyones’ hobby, personality or style. With the ability to create your very own designs that statement has got to be true.

VisionBedding ships throughout the USA and yes even Canada. Since many of their products are custom design they are made one at a time as the orders come in so you can be assured of the quality.

So what are you waiting for? Go visit VisionBedding. Don’t you want to be one of the coolest parents around?

The barn in the Meadow

September 13, 2007 by Tricia

Don’t you love old barns?

I took this photo last year when we were driving from Ottawa back to Toronto. We’d been on a visit to Ottawa to attend a birthday party for one of my aunts and as we drove home we just had to stop and take a few photos of the lovely scenery along the way.

I’m from Ottawa and now that my parents are gone we don’t get out that way very often anymore. One of my brothers still lives there, but he seems to come here more than we go there.

Enjoy free time on the weekend? Visit Everyday Weekender

September 13, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve just spent some time reading a blog that I just came across called Everyday Weekender. The site is written by a fellow Ontarian who’s written this blog as a celebration of the weekend. Who wouldn’t like a site that’s all about enjoying some well deserved R&R on the weekend?

Not only is this site written by a fellow Canadian, but I think we might have some things in common. He writes about spending time in the garden, traveling to one of my favorite Caribbean islands – the Dominican Republic, Southern Ontario attractions and events, barbecuing, cottage life and one of my favorite cottage type activities – canoeing!

Yes, it was a post about his new canoe that caught my eye. I’m sure by now you guys know how much I love canoeing so how can I not like someone who’s just learning how to canoe?

There’s plenty of interesting posts filled with DIY activities that will help you enjoy your weekends such as this post about making your own Keggerator. Yes, that’s turning a fridge into a big beer keg! I must show Chris this post … or maybe I shouldn’t as I’m sure I’ll end up with a Keggerator in my basement if I do!

I Luv this site.

If all of that isn’t enough to get you to go and have a peek at Everyday Weekender there is the matter of the PR 5 linkback promotion he’s having. That’s right. If you write an article about his blog he’ll link back to you and you’ll get a link from a PR 5 blog. Gaining another PR5 link for my site is nice, but that’s really not why I choose to tell you about Everyday Weekender today. I don’t gush about sites just for links. I really do love this site and I’ve added it to my blogroll already.

Sleepy time

September 13, 2007 by Tricia

I have such a messed up sleep cycle! It feels like I’ve barely had any sleep for the last couple of weeks. I’ll get tired, finally and then only sleep for about four hours. Then I’m up for anywhere from two to 18 hours before I sleep again.

I think all that lack of sleep came crashing down on my yesterday though. I feel asleep on the couch while Chris and I were watching TV. I’m not sure what time I fell asleep but I’d guess it was 10:30 pm. I woke up briefly when Chris went to bed. I even got up and walked around, but as soon as I settled on the couch again to watch TV I fell soundly asleep until about 4 a.m..

I thought I was up for good at that point, but I started to get really tired again around eight in the morning so I headed for bed this time and slept until noon or so. Yeah I know, sleeping until noon! Unheard of!

Here it is now after 4 pm and I’m starting to feel a bit groggy again. Maybe I’m fighting something else other than inflammatory bowel disease? I’m not going to lie down again this time though. Maybe I’ll actually get to bed at a decent hour tonight and sleep through the night?

Of course it’s the pain that I’m in from the Crohn’s that’s messing up my sleep. As I eat through the day my pain gets worse and worse. I guess the best cure would be to not eat huh?

I saw the pain doctor on Monday and she’s trying me on a new medicine. I haven’t started it yet though as I have such bad reactions to medications sometimes that I want to be sure that Chris will be around and awake for at least four hours the first two or three times I try the new med.

For once the new medication is not a narcotic. It’s a medicine that’s supposed to help with nerve pain called Lyrica (pregabalin). We used to give an older form of this medication to our pain / migraine patients when I worked in a pain clinic many years ago and it did help some people. Hopefully it will help me with my abdominal pain.

One of Lyrica’s side effects is that it might make you tired so I’m supposed to take it at bedtime. Huh? I don’t really seem to have a bed time anymore and if I want Chris to be around and awake when I take it I’m going to have to take it by 6 or 7 pm the first few times I try it out.

I do hope that it helps with my pain and my sleep. I can’t keep going on this way in constant pain with barely any sleep. I can’t.

I can’t believe that Halloween is just around the corner

September 11, 2007 by Tricia

Can you believe it’s already almost mid-September? The kids are back to school, summers almost over and it’s getting cooler. Well, it’s getting a bit cooler here! The leaves on the trees will soon turn red, orange and yellow, lovely in their glorious flaming colors, then they will fall to the ground right around Halloween.

Yes, Halloween. It’ll soon be here, and if you enjoy celebrating the holiday it’s time to begin thinking about what kind of halloween costumes you and your friends or family might want to dress up in.

The last couple of years I haven’t done much for Halloween. Oh, we decorate our house. Some years we decorate more than others, but there’s always some decorations. We buy candy and treats to give out to the kids and occasionally we’ll dress up for Halloween.

I get a kick out of some of the kids Halloween costumes. They are so cute when they come to our door, often in groups of two to twelve! Yes, they do roam the streets in little packs, often with a parent or two in tow. Some kids are really shy and others quite bold. All seem to be quite pleased with themselves if you compliment them on their costumes.

I’ve noticed that some of the parents coming around with their children occasionally have infants with them. A few collect candy for their infants – which I don’t really understand since their babies are too young for most of the treats that are given out. Often when a parent has an infant with them on Halloween, usually while walking with an older child of course, their babies are dressed in infant Halloween costumes. I think those are the most adorable costumes of all. I’m certain that I’ve seen some babies dressed up as lady bugs and sunflowers. I love those costumes.

So what are you planning to dress up as this Halloween? Have you purchased costumes for your kids yet? Are you getting excited?
