Thinking of getting plastic surgery? Do your research first

May 12, 2007 by Tricia

As many of my readers know I’m a nurse. I’ve worked taking care of people in their homes, people recovering from orthopedic surgeries in a special orthopedic hospital, worked in a pain clinic for 10 years, and then when I changed jobs and started working in the ER where I’m currently employed but off due to illness, I also worked for a plastic surgeon for about a year, at the same time as I worked in the ER.

Having worked in a plastic surgery clinic, I know that there are many reasons why people chose to have work done. I think most people believe that people get cosmetic work done due to vanity, but having worked in the field and directly with patients who’ve had various forms of work done I can tell you that the majority of cosmetic surgery that I’ve helped people with has been to correct true physical problems. Problems such as breasts of two different sizes, breast reduction, drooping eyelid, crooked nose or deviated septum, bad scars, and sagging skin due to massive weight loss just to name a few.

If you’ve ever considered having plastic surgery you might be interested in visiting Plastic Surgery 101. It’s a resource guide for plastic surgery. The guide was created by a prominent Los Angeles plastic surgery doctor.

Within the pages of the Plastic Surgery 101 site you’ll find detailed information on many types of Plastic surgery procedures that are commonly performed. Procedures like facelifts, eyelifts, browlifts, Rhinoplasty, Breast augmentation, Breast lift, Breast reduction, liposuction, tummy tuck, plastic surgery for men, gynecomastia, skin resurfacing and laser, Botox, Restylane, Sculptra and other Injectible Fillers as well as many other common treatments.

The Rhinoplasty information page discusses some of the innovative procedures being done at the Beverly Hills rhinoplasty clinic. You’ll also find photo galleries with a number of before and after photos, news and trends, and a FAQ section on the site.

The information pages about the various types of procedures discuss exactly what the surgery is meant to correct, who the surgery is meant for – as in are you a good candidate fro the surgery?, the risks of the procedure, how to prepare for the surgery as well as what will happen on the day of your surgery, and what to expect after the procedure and the healing process your body will go through. Photos and diagrams accompany many of the articles which I think makes them all that much easier to understand.

As a nurse I would recommend that you do some research if you are considering a plastic surgery procedure. Plasticsurgery101.net certainly seems like a great place to start your research.

What? No party?

May 12, 2007 by Tricia

Well it seem that Chris is doing a bit better today. He says he still feels wiped out, but so far he hasn’t seemed to have had any fevers. Hopefully whatever it is that was bothering him will be gone by tomorrow.

We were supposed to go over to our friends this evening. I don’t know if they own a foosball table or if they rented one … but they get along really well with some of their neighbors and they invited a few of them over, as well as some friends like us for a Foosball tournament and BBQ.

Chris, who loves nothing more than a party, decided not to go. He just wants to stay in and take it easy tonight. So that tells me right there that he’s still off. At least he’s not being his typical man self and being really whiny about being sick. LOL Men are great, but guys – you can be such PITA’s when you’re sick.

So he’s just sitting around doing a bit of work on the computer and watching the hockey game. Go Ottawa! That’s my hometown … gotta root for them now that Toronto’s long gone.

I think we’ll have a delivered dinner tonight.

My sick man

May 12, 2007 by Tricia

When Chris came home from work on Friday night just after 8 p.m. he said he was so tired he pretty much just wanted to go to bed. Normally when he works the 12 noon to 8 pm shift he’s not all that tired because he tends to get more rest than when he works the 7:30 am shift and ends up getting up at 5 am!

So this was unusual.

Since he was so tired I decided we’d better eat right away, but he didn’t even want to eat dinner.

That was totally not like him. Wiped out, no appetite and his stomach had uhm … caused him to run to the washroom twice the evening before .. So I walked up to him and put my hand on his forehead and sure enough he had a fever.

I spent the rest of the evening checking on him as he lay on the couch watching TV. I gave him a Tylenol as soon as I discovered his fever, and managed to get another one into him before he headed for bed at about 1 am. Why he stayed up so late when he came home so wiped out I don’t know – but he did.

He doesn’t get sick too often but when he does he’s miserable. I’m hoping that he feels better when he wakes up.

I’m the one who gets fevers all the time in this house. I get fevers at least five times a day! At least now he’s got a recent reminder of how zapped you can feel when you get a fever.

Other than feeling feverish and wiped out he said he didn’t feel too bad. No headache or upset stomach.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he’s back to normal by morning or else this is going to be one long weekend!

Discuss diets and healthy living at the Tincap forum

May 11, 2007 by Tricia

If you’ve been dieting and working towards losing weight, but perhaps having some difficulty because you’re trying to do it all on your own, you might be interested in taking a looking at Tincap’s weight loss program. Tincaps is a peer support community for healthy living.

First and foremost it is a forum. The various sections of the forum discusses the many types of weight loss plans, weight loss supplements and treatments.

Some of the more recent and ongoing discussions are about Isagenix – a cleansing program that helps one to lose weight, Combo diet pills, Chà de Bugre, and Top Crazy diet plans of our times. Some of the “diets” listed in that last discussion are pretty strange!

Within the Healthy Lifestyle forum you’ll find discussions about diet programs, exercise, Scams, fads and Rip offs, Articles and knowledgebase, as well as books and magazine articles. The General section contains information about the site, world news related to diet and health, and the Classifieds where you can find exercise related DVDs and tapes for sale, as well as books and various diet and health related equipment.

I think these forums would be great for people who are considering starting a diet and or exercise program who’d like to check out the various types of diets available. You know to see what really works, and what in the end has turned out to be a scam, waste of money and or not work at all.

Those who have tried many of the diet fads and weight loss treatments would make great members for this forum as well as they could discuss the pros and cons of the diets they’ve tried.

I also believe that this forum would be a great place to talk to others in order to help get motivated or re-motivated about your weight loss goals.

Membership is free. So, if you are trying to lose weight and or attempting to work on a healthier lifestyle why not check out the Tincap forum? You many learn a lot, and you might be able to help other members as well.

Something fishy going on …

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve been cooking up a storm this week. On Sunday, well Saturday actually, my husband was talking with one of our friends and he invited him over for dinner on Sunday. Suddenly my husband is going out and buying fish to grill on the barbecue.

My husband really doesn’t eat fish, but our friend does, so I thought that perhaps our friend had suggested grilling fish. Nope. it was my husband.

You see, he’s been with me to several of my appointments with my pain doctor and lately she’s been suggesting that I try a macrobiotic diet because that’s supposed to help with pain. I’m still looking for some good information on macrobiotic diets but I do know that fish can sometimes be a large component of this diet.

I think my husband was thinking of that when he of all people suggested we have fish for dinner. I like fish but I’ve always had trouble getting him to eat it, so I either cook it for myself and cook him something else, or more often, I just don’t cook fish at all.

On Sunday evening we had grilled halibut, steamed asparagus and a tossed salad. We enjoyed the meal so much that on Tuesday night we had grilled lemon pepper catfish, grilled potatoes and veggies, and a tossed salad.

I took photos of our meals as I prepared them, as we cooked them, and right after they were served. I think I’ll write up some posts with the recipes for the fish and my grilled potatoes and veggies. I think some of you will like them.
