My niece has a wicked sense of humor

April 6, 2007 by Tricia

Earlier today I received a nice email from my niece wishing us a happy Easter. She’s the first and only of any of my niece’s or nephews to have gotten married so far.

I was just thinking that it’s become clear that she’s inherited my side of the families sense of humor, especially her fathers. With her Easter greeting she sent a photo that I’d like to post, but I’m afraid it might offend as many people as would find it funny. My niece is an animal lover herself, but she sent a photo of a dog that looks quite a bit like her own with a rabbit in it’s mouth – well you can really only see the rabbit ears. Sick humor huh?

I guess her sense of humor became apparent when, at the end of her wedding ceremony last year she and her new husband walked down the aisle to the the Star Wars theme. LOL They both love all the star wars movies, but even so, I’ve never thought of the theme as wedding music!

She’s also the one who sent me photo’s of her cats dressed up in Halloween costumes. In her note she decided that her male cat, Hunter, must be gay because he seemed to like the princess costume better than the more masculine Dracula costume that she’d purchased for him.

I wonder what she’ll come up with next?

Happy Dance

April 4, 2007 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

00031796

If I was a cat … I would have looked like that yesterday evening. Yes I was dancing around my living room after I wrote my very well paying post and saw that it went through. I’m still floating on a cloud. I think it might take all week for me to come down from this!

I know that some people don’t like the idea of p/aid blogging, but for me it was a true life saver. As I’ve said many times if I hadn’t have discovered Pay/perp0st and a few other companies like it (I was already with two before I found P-P) we would more than likely be close to losing our house by now.

Thanks to that lovely well paying post that I wrote on Tuesday Chris and I are in much better shape financially. Honestly if you want to make a little bit of fun money, enough to pay some bills or perhaps even enough to justify staying home to be with your kids take a look at my Pay/perp0st post.

This weeks Theme is Water

waterfallCNToronto

This is a photo of the waterfall near Toronto’s CN Tower. I took this photo last August when my husbands brother and kids were visiting from Chicago for a family wedding. I think the kids and my sister in law had gone up into the CN Tower to get a view of the city from above, while Chris, his brother and I waited outside.

We wandered around and a short distance from the Tower we discovered this waterfall. I guess I hadn’t walked in this area very often because I didn’t remember ever having seen this water fall before.

I think I took the photo at about 10 or 11 at night. I’ll have to visit the area again sometime during the day to take more photos of the waterfall. It’s quite large and it’s very pretty.

We have some more great photos up on our other sites today. Chris has one over at Odd Planet that I took when we were traveling to Ottawa last summer. It’s of a lake so it fits the water theme perfectly. Then I’ve got a great photo of rain droplets on As the Garden grows. You must visit the other sites – please. I’d love to find out if you like the photos!

Did you watch House?

March 29, 2007 by Tricia

Did anyone watch the new episode of House this past Tuesday night? I did a recap of it on my Watching House blog, and then earlier today I made a post about how I really feel about the episode.

I was happy that there finally was a new episode to watch and write about, but overall I just wasn’t all that impressed with the episode.

How did you feel about that episode? Leave a comment for me on the Watching House site.

If I were stranded on a deserted island …

March 29, 2007 by Tricia

My friend Skeet just wrote a post Not quite Gilligan’s Isle and she picked five people that she thought she might be able to survive with on a desert island for a year.

I was one of the lucky people she thought she might be able to tolerate for that long. Of course, she enlisted me as the groups gardener in the hopes that I’d grow veggies and keep them all fed. I know she wrote her post late at night so I’ll forgive her for forgetting that I’m a nurse. I’m sure having a medical professional trapped on a desert island with you couldn’t be all that bad, now could it? I also make a mean lean-to if I do say so myself.

Now, if I were trapped on desert island with five other people I wonder who else I might most want to be trapped there with me?

I certainly think I’d like to have Mr. Fab on the island. I’m not really sure how good his survival skills might be, but I’m pretty sure he’d be able to cheer us up and keep us amused for the year. Once whatever survival related work was done each day we could just gather round him as if he were a television set and let him babble away about lemurs and other crazy things that pop into that wild mind of his and it would be entertaining.

Mrs. Lifecruiser would have to be there too. She’s a world traveler and has gathered knowledge from all the areas she’s been in. I’m sure she’d use her experiences to help us survive. Plus she’s becoming an experienced Ship’s Captain so she might be able build us a boat and help us navigate off the island before the year was through.

I think Brian would also be a good person to have along. He seems to be a bit of a philosopher and I think he’d end up being the realist of the group and help keep us on track.

Now, I don’t know Kahea as well as I probably should, especially since she comes here and leaves me nice comments ALL the time, however, she seems like she’s a very resourceful person and you always want someone like that along for the ride when you’re stuck on a island!

Heather, as in Heather from Beautiful BC and her dog Hugo would be the final person that I think I would pick, especially if I could only have five other people on the Island with me. Believe me, I’d pick more if I could! Heather and her pup Hugo love British Columbia, and since that’s an area of Canada that is quite rugged and full of outdoorsy people I’m pretty sure that Heather must have some survival skills up her sleeve.

Now that I’ve chosen my fellow stranded islanders I wonder who they might choose if they were stuck on an island for a year? Would they take me too? Or do they know other people who might help them survive for a whole year on a deserted island? Keep an eye on their sites, maybe they’ll tell us soon.
