So busy my home is being neglected!

October 13, 2012 by Tricia

I’ve been so busy in the last month that I’ve been neglecting things at home. I feel like I’ve barely had time to cook let alone do things like house cleaning. It’s terrible. Oh I don’t mean it’s terrible that the house is a mess, it’s not that bad, it’s just it’s terrible that I’m so busy that I can’t find the time to do much else other than study study study!

It would be so nice if I could hire a cleaning service for the next two months or so. I’m not planning on doing that. Having a maid come in would probably be as disruptive to my studying as me getting up and doing all the cleaning myself anyway. Plus it’s not like things aren’t getting done, it’s just so much harder to do it with my time being consumed with school now.

On top of everything I’m doing I’m still maintaining all my sites, trying to find guest bloggers and weeding through all the email I get everyday. Oh and boy do I get a lot of email! I have too many sites and of course they all generate mail .. and then there’s the spam with sales emails from everything from SEO ads to things like carpet cleaning durham nc and so on. I found an easy enough way to manage getting through my email but it still takes me an hour or two when I first turn my computer on because there’s just that much email. Sigh …

Is your life extraordinarily busy lately as well? How are you managing it all?

A musical distraction?

September 30, 2012 by Tricia

It seems every weekend I have my head in the books. At least that’s the way it’s been the past month. I suppose until the end of December it will continue that way. As it turns out the two courses I’m taking are quite heavy duty but I will be that much better a nurse when I’ve completed the courses.

It doesn’t help that my abdomen has been acting up since mid-summer though. It’s been worse and worse as each day goes by. My Internist increased my meds last week so I’m now taking the maximum dosage of my Crohn’s meds. I have no where to go from here if it doesn’t start to settle down .. other than much more radical treatments that I probably can’t do or maybe surgery.

As a distraction, tomorrow Chris and I are going to see a friend that has this new musical … well, it’s not an instrument but I guess it’s something that you can use “with” your instruments? It’s called a alesis io dock musicians friend or something like that. Anyone with an iPad can produce, perform and create music with the io Dock using any pro audio gear or any instruments.

As I said I’m not sure how it works, but Chris will figure it out since he’s the musician. It will be interesting to see what new music he creates using this new technology. We don’t have an iPad .. but I know after playing with the io Dock he’ll want to get an iPad and an io dock. I won’t even bet on it because it’s a sure thing.

Ok, time for maybe a tiny rest and then back to putting my head in the books for most of the night. The only time I’ll stop studying is to watch Dexter later. I won’t miss that! Oh and maybe Homeland. Gosh … there’s other good shows on tonight too. Ok, I’m taping them.

I wonder if I can fix my couch?

September 27, 2012 by Tricia

I think it’s time to think about getting new furniture. We have leather couches and unfortunately, we let our dog on the couch and she’s not easy on the furniture.

Our couch and easy chair are starting to get a little worn. Not too bad, but enough that it’s time to either stop having the dog lie on the couch or perhaps look up some leather repair kits info and see if I can do some repair myself. Who knows maybe I can get the couch and chair to look almost new again. That would be nice!

I’m in no big hurry to repair the couch and easy chair, it’s just another task on the list. We’re still renovating but once the renovations are finished I will be looking at the decor with a critical eye. If I can’t repair the couch and easy chair I’ll be moving them to the basement and getting new furniture. Hmmm .. maybe I should just browse around for new furniture. Hey, I like that idea!

So tired of being tired

September 18, 2012 by Tricia

I am exhausted. I feel like I’ve been exhausted all summer. As if I haven’t slept well most of the summer. Yes I know the irony – I’m posting this right after a post about insomnia. No I haven’t been suffering from insomnia, I just haven’t been getting enough sleep.

Ever since I injured my hand in early June and started waking up at night because of the pain in my hand or even not sleeping because of the pain I’ve been tired. Then, once my hand slowly started to get better my stomach started acting up. Remember the Crohn’s .. yeah, it’s acting up again too. It really hasn’t been a fun summer. I’m really hoping that Autumn will be much better!

Now that it’s getting cooler outside I think I’m going to make sure I go for a long walk at least once every day. Twice if possible. That will be just one more thing to make me tired and help me sleep. Sounds like a plan. I just have to make time to do that.

Next on the list is maybe starting to take some vitamins again. I was taking vitamins last year and I felt a lot better, perhaps if I take vitamins again I’ll start feeling better again? There’s actually still some maternity vitamins in the cupboard, I guess I should finish them.

Ok, I’ve been taking about being exhausted – maybe I should just go to bed. Goodnight!

Trying to concentrate

September 18, 2012 by Tricia

I’m having yet another busy week. I guess that’s the way it’s going to be now that I’m back in school. I’m busy trying to return to work, going to school and maintaining all my sites at the same time .. oh and we’re renovating our house too! Yes that’s a lot isn’t it?

I’d be back at work already if my hand injury hadn’t happened – then I’d be even busier!

I’m having trouble concentrating studying when my husband is home. He’s always busy doing odd jobs around the house or picking up one of his guitars and playing music. I usually don’t mind, but now that I’m studying it’s a little distracting.

Oh and speaking of guitars, the other day he saw one called a jazzmaster musicians friend and that’s now his latest obsession. He loves jazz music, in fact when he first started playing guitar he played classical and jazz so he wouldn’t mind one of these guitars. Perhaps if he gets one of these guitars I can make a deal with him to only play it in the basement or upstairs when I’m studying? Yeah … that’ll work.

Ok … back to my studying!
