Thinking about buying a used car

November 28, 2006 by Tricia

I’m starting to think that we might need to get a new car sometime soon. Our Ford Contour has been acting up a lot over the last two years. It’s only 10 years old, but I think it’s starting to tell us that it might not last that much longer. I said new car, but we can’t afford a new car right now so I’m starting to think about finding a place to purchase reliable Used Cars. I think I might have found the ideal site to search for used cars over at lemonfree.com.

My husband has always been a fan of Honda. We had a Honda Prelude in the early 90’s but this car eventually gave out on us. It did however live to be 14 years old- not that we had it the whole time. It was originally his parents car. So with that in mind I’ve been looking at the Honda area’s of the site, particularly the Honda Accord section.

As I’ve been looking through the site I’ve noticed some features that I really enjoy. When you find a car model that you like you can read a article of the type of car model, crash test results and ratings, you can also read stats on the estimated fuel economy, and recall notices for the make, model and year as well. I really like that part. When we were looking at cars back in ’98 I was reading reports on the models that we were interested in – like recalls and crash test results … so to have it all in one place so easy to find as I’m looking at a car that I’m thinking of purchasing is wonderful. LemonFree.com has made finding a used car, and learning more about the make and model so easy. I’m really impressed.

Another thing that I like about this site is that it has listing for both Canada and the US. As a Canadian I’ve found many sites geared towards American Consumers (even Canadian sites!) but not as many that have items for both countries. I found listing for a 2002 Honda Accord that might be suitable. At least it’s in our general area so we can contact the current owner and possibly go to see the vehicle.

Wish us luck!

I’ve been a poor visitor lately

November 28, 2006 by Tricia

I’m sorry that I haven’t been around to visit the many sites that I usually do visit lately. I haven’t been very active in my own meme- Green Thumb Sunday, or the others that I participate in like Wordless Wednesday, Thursday Thirteen or the Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt for a number of reasons.

I haven’t been feeling all that well over the last two or more weeks. Not that I ever feel that well but I’ve felt worse than normal and haven’t been getting out to visit my friends or the meme sites. Please forgive me? I know you guys are coming here, but perhaps some of you have dropped off a bit since I’m not returning the visits. For that I’m sorry. I just haven’t been up to it lately.

Not only have I not been feeling that great but I’ve been working on a few side projects for a friend and for myself. I will have more time to visit others when I get these projects done.

Just wanted you guys to know what’s been going on.

My friends and their recent baby boom

November 28, 2006 by Tricia

I can’t believe how many of my friends have had babies in the last year or who are expecting very soon. Two have had baby boys and one a baby girl. Since we are a group and tend to have the same friends among us I think I’d better start looking for unique baby gifts for the girls and their newborns.

I was looking at a website called the Corner Stork, and I discovered that they have some very nice and creative Baby Gift Baskets. I’m happy that I discovered this website it’s just full of baby boy gifts and baby girl gifts. I think I could spend a few hours on the site browsing around and picking out my favorites.

I think that I like the Cashmere soft elegant gift selection – pastel duck as a choice for a couple who hasn’t had their baby yet. Almost everyone has duck decorations or toys for their babies and because this gift collections comes in a lovely yellow it would be suitable for a boy or girl baby.

They have a really cute gift for baby boys called the Harley Davidson 4 piece boys born to ride gift set. It comes in a soft baby blue and it has a sleeper, bib, doo rag and blanket inside. Hmm a Doo Rag for a baby boy, now that’s unique. LOL

A gift that I’d get for a very special little girl might be the Moses Basket Deluxe (Princess) – It’s just full of things for a newborn baby girl. The gift basket includes a bumper liner, a foam mattress pad, removable hood all of which make a lovely layette. Inside the layette you’ll find a 100% cotton gown, undergarment, hat, booties, quilted changing pad, 3 receiving blankets, a lamb cuddly, bear and moon soft toys and a 8 terry washcloths. Sounds like it’s a basket with just about everything a new parent might need for a newborn.

If you like the sound of the gifts that I’ve described you must visit the Corner Stork baby gift online store. I’m certain that you’ll find some great baby gift baskets for your friends or relatives that are expecting, or who have just had, a baby.

Are you guys still on holiday?

November 28, 2006 by Tricia

I don’t know if I seem to be getting less traffic here because of the recent Thanks Giving holiday or what? My stats are a little lower than normal so I know it’s not my imagination that less people are coming by for a visit.

What’s up folks? Are you all vacationing this week? Last holiday of the year or what?

I’m missing my regulars.

Web Design and site maintenance

November 27, 2006 by Tricia

I’ve been very busy in the last week or more- posting away like a nut on all my sites and slowly working in the background for a popular blogger to fix up his main site and getting three others ready to launch properly.

If he likes my work I will be launching a small part time business doing web design, graphics, and site maintenance.

I haven’t tried my hand at creating full WordPress or Blogger themes but I’ve certainly had a lot of experience modifying designs and changing the whole look and feel of an existing design. At this time I would be willing to do that for others.

The majority of the work I hope and expect to take on will be Site Maintenance.

This is the type of scenario that I can see people using my services for:

1. Are you busy?

2. You have a family to take care of and a job, but you also love to blog.

3. You want to change several things in your sidebar or your header but you either don’t know how to do it well or you simply don’t have time.

4. You don’t want to tinker with your blog, you just want to blog. You’d rather have someone else fix things for you.

5. You’ve been trying to change somethings on your site, even adding a blogroll to the sidebar, but it’s not working for you and you’re getting frustrated.

6. You wish you could just hire someone to do all the stuff that you either don’t like to do, get frustrated doing or have no clue how to do- for a reasonable price.

If you fall into any of these categories you might be interested in what I have to offer.

I’m willing to tinker with your site after you’ve given up trying.

I can organize your sidebar so it’s neat and tidy, rather than glaring and distracting. Offer you design advice and possibly even make some graphics for you your sidebar or a new header for your site. Any of those changes can make your site seem new to you and to your regular visitors/ readers.

I haven’t set up any type of price lists yet. At the moment I have no idea what kind of prices that I’ll charge other than the fact that I’d like to keep them affordable and reasonable. For example- I can’t see working on something for an hour or two and only getting paid $5, but neither would I feel comfortable charging you a $100 for something that takes only an hour either.

Readers and Visitors – have you used the services of a web designer in the past? Would you be so kind as to help me out by telling me what kind of prices you were charged for the work that was done on your site?

Price for re-design?
new header?
title graphics in your sidebar?
adding a blogroll with graphic?
creating roll up menus in your sidebar?
Installing plug-ins on your site?

If you could reply back and tell me the approximate prices you made for web services I’d really appreciate it. Remember I want to offer you an affordable service that’s beneficial for both you and I.

Thanks!
