Doctors Hospitals and the ICU

December 13, 2006 by Tricia

So I saw the family doc yesterday. I was not well yesterday at all. I was nauseated when I went to bed, didn’t sleep well – waking every 15 minutes or so, and nauseated when I got up and throughout the day until at least 11 pm or so. You know how sometimes after you get sick you feel so much better? Well I was seriously thinking of making myself get sick, that’s how bad it was. I’ve been like that for days now.

So naturally I went to my doctor in that kind of condition – and had a fever while I was there too. Big surprise that she wrote a note keeping me off work for a while longer then eh? No dates on this one, just that I’m still ill and undergoing medical evaluation.

Now to see what the gastrointernologist has to say later this afternoon. His office never called this week to confirm the appointment, I sure hope it’s still on. Chris rearranged his work schedule so that he could go with me. Plus I’ve been waiting to see him since the day after my MRI in October so it’d better happen.

One of my nurse friends called me this afternoon, co-incidentally she happens to work in the Occ health office now (I have an appt there Friday), she was calling to let me know that another nurse friend of ours had been hospitalized again. She has chronic asthma and lung damage thanks to a chemical spill at one of her workplaces prior to her becoming a nurse. It looks like she’s going to end up hospitalized two or three times each year now if the past couple are any indication.

My friend is in the ICU. I was told that her breathing was so bad that she would likely end up intubated by the end of the evening. This happened to her last year – her breathing was so bad that they kept her sedated and intubated her. If I’m not feeling too bad myself I’m going to try to go over to the hospital this evening to see her. I didn’t want to go yesterday because as I said I was so nauseated, and had a fever. It’s probably the Crohns that’s causing all of that, but if I have an infection then going into the ICU to see her when her lungs in such bad shape is not a good idea.

It just goes to show that as bad as you think things are going for yourself sometimes, that other people often have it worse. Send some good thoughts for my friend please?

Anivive for your pets stress

December 13, 2006 by Tricia

Have you heard about the new medications that’s on the market that will help with dog depression, stress, and anxiety?

It’s an all natural product and it is supposed to work quickly, perhaps in as little as one or two days. Lowering the stress levels in your pet will make for happier pet, and more than likely a happier you.

I don’t happen to have a dog or a cat, and they usually don’t diagnose turtles with depression so I can’t say that I’ve tried this new medication with any of my own pets but it’s supposed to work quite well and it’s said that when given over a period of several months that it will actually improve your pets sense of well being.

So if you have an animals that’s been displaying signs of stress or depression you might want to visit the site and look into getting some Anivive for your pet.

Check out my House and Hugh Laurie blog

December 12, 2006 by Tricia

Just a reminder for all you Hugh Laurie fans. I’ve been hired to write a blog over at 451press and it’s all about the TV show HOUSE. I’m busy finding things to write, not just about the show but, about all of it’s main characters as well.

I know that there are a lot of Hugh Laurie fans out there and I’ve been busy loading the site with information on him and I’ll continue to do so. The latest interest post about Hugh Laurie is called “Hugh Laurie flashback” and it has a fantastically funny video of Laurie singing the song “Mystery” that he apparently wrote himself. Go watch it on WatchingHouse.com.

I know you guys are going to like that site as it develops.

Help a fellow blogger raise money for Cancer Research

December 12, 2006 by Tricia

Colleen from 3 Day Mom and Simple Kind of Life is busy working to collect donations for the Three Day Walk for Cancer Research that she’ll be doing in Tampa next year. She completed the Three Day Walk in Philadelphia this past October and she’s raring to go for next years walk.

Her goal is to raise $2200 in donations for her Tampa three day walk. Can you help her? Anyone that donates $20 will get a personal thank you and a write up in her blog, plus a link in her side bar for the next twelve months as a 3-Day donor.

If you want to help her, and or read more about the walk and her goals just visit her 3 Day Mom Donation post. I’m going to make a donation sometime in the near future, I just need to figure out my finances etc first, but I will. Why don’t you join me in helping Colleen with her goal?

If you can’t make a donation right now perhaps you could blog about her goal to raise money for the Three Day Walk for Cancer Research and help her in that way?

Why I prefer contact lenses to glasses

December 12, 2006 by Tricia

If you’ve ever watched any of the videos that I’ve made and posted on this site you’ll notice that I sometimes wear glasses and other times, while it might appear that my eyes are au natual, I do indeed have contacts in. In fact I prefer to wear contacts as much as possible, especially if I’m going outside on a bright sunny day because using prescription contacts help me shield my eyes from the sun because I can wear sunglasses. I can’t and won’t wear those stupid sunglass shade like things on my eye glasses and I find prescription eye glasses that get darker in the sun are usually heavy, uncomfortable and too dark to use indoors in low light conditions.

Here I am rambling when I was just about to tell you about this Discount Contact lens site that I found. I’ve never purchased contact lenses online but given that the prices are so much lower than when I’ve purchased them through my optometrist or even a wholesale eye wear store, I think I will be making a purchase soon.

Browsing through the site I see that they have all of the major brands- and quite a variety of each brand as well. They sell single day lenses, 30 day lenses, 1 – 2 week, 1-3 month disposable lenses as well as Toric and bifocal lenses. Pretty much any type that you can get in a store that sells prescription glasses and contact lenses – but the price is a heck of a lot better!

Discount Contact Lenses often has a sale going on or offers rebates on the products they sell. Oh and I like that they won Gold Honoree in Customer Support status at BizRate.com. That’s gotta mean that they have good service.
