I’m being gassed out of my home by a farting dog!

August 9, 2008 by Tricia

Ok, I’ve always thought that my Labrador Retriever puppy might be part goat due to the way she eats grass, but now I’m starting to think that my supposedly purebred lab might have a little Bulldog in her too.

Why? Well this weeks she’s been a farting machine!

She’s never been one to pass much gas. Oh occasionally when she’s squatted to do a movement we’ll hear a little phwtttt, but that’s about it.

She was just lying on the floor sleeping near me a few minutes ago and I actually heard her fart five or six times! Stinky ones too!

We haven’t changed her diet (well other than to eliminate Nutro Natural Choice Large breed puppy food about a month ago due to concerns as several dogs have fallen severely ill or died after eating it lately!) or anything else. The only big change for her is that she went into heat a week ago Wednesday or Thursday (10 or 11 days ago). I’m really starting to think that hormonal changes might be causing her gas.

I wonder if her gas is causing my headache? There’s a little more methane in the air these days – in my home at least! Yes – I still have a headache/migraine – it seems to change in severity so I’m calling it a combo. I’ve had this headache since sometime Monday … about the time Midnights farts really started up. See … there might be a connection.

I wonder if you can give dogs Beano? If you can maybe I could add a few drops to her meals for a day and see if it helped? 😉

Bad migraine knocking me out of commission

August 7, 2008 by Tricia

I’ve had a really bad migraine the last few days. I don’t know what caused it, but it’s stopping me from getting much of anything done! It’s better today than it was yesterday!

Yesterday I spent the day lying on the couch dreading each time the dog would go to the door asking to go outside. Of course, every time I did go out with the dog she wanted to stand in the bright sunlight and if you’ve ever had a migraine or a very bad headache you know that bright light just makes your head pound even more.

I think the headache started sometime on Monday hence the lack of new posts! I just hate being knocked out of commission by my own body! Hopefully the migraine is going to finally go away, it seems like it is, but you can never tell for sure until it’s suddenly gone.

This cat must be very tolerant!

Wordless Wednesday

Keep your enemies close

I’d bet that having mice crawling all over your head would be a little creepy … even more so if you are a cat who wants to eat the mice!

This cat must have a lot of patience and tolerance!

Sunny days and Sunflowers

In the dark cold winter, as the wind is howling down our driveway and snow if falling outside I often wish that winter would be over and long for the warm days of summer. During those times, when I think of summer, I picture things that remind me of summer – like the beach, walking outside during a warm rain, the smell of fresh cut grass, sitting outside relaxing in the garden and of course the flowers .. the flowers of summer.

Who doesn’t think of summer when they see a sunflower?

Black Eyed Susans (daisies) often remind me of warm sunny days too.

These flowers are blooming right now in my garden. So bright and cheery.

One of the best things about these two flowers is that once they start blooming they often bloom into October, long after most of my other flowers have stopped blooming.

Can you think of a flower, a scent or place that always reminds you of warm summer days?

This weeks theme is Clouds

Dark Clouds

I took this photo at about 7:30 this evening. The clouds were low, dark and ominous.

We had some rain earlier in the day and the weather channel had said we were supposed to get thunder storms but so far there’s been no storm. Just the dark dark clouds.

We’ve had a very wet summer here in Toronto. I’m not sure how much rain we had, but it was something like 292 mm or more and that total broke all past records by a long shot! It seems like August might be damp as well.
