What’s happening with Adsense this month?

August 14, 2008 by Tricia

Do you use Adsense on your websites? Have you noticed that you’re making less money this month?

I have!

My Adsense income has been on a steady increase since last September and after making some changes to my sites in April I started to make truly decent income. However I’ve noticed that this month I’m only making half or even less than that of what I used to make each day over the last few months.

Today’s earnings took a real downturn. I don’t know if Adsense is being slow in reporting or what’s going on but I’ve only made a few dollars! I”m used to making quite a bit more.

I won’t say exactly what my usual Adsense earnings are, but over the last few months it’s been enough to pay more than half my mortgage, so it’s a reasonably decent amount.

Are the advertisers cutting their budgets? Are they on holidays? I don’t know what’s happening, but all month I’ve been earning at a much lower rate than I normally do, yet my traffic has gone up.

As I started out by asking – Do you use Adsense on your website? Have you noticed that you are making less this month than you normally do? I’m just curious if others are in the same boat as I am.

Save me from the monster!

Wordless Wednesday

Ah! What the heck is that!

It looks like this puppy is afraid of the dinosaur image on the bag doesn’t it? I’m not surprised … the Dinosaur head is bigger than the dog!

I’ll be that puppy would like to do some DNA testing on that dinosaur to find out if the species was a herbivore or carnivore! Actually I’m not even sure that dog is a puppy. it looks like one, but it’s possible that it’s an adult small dog.

Chris is bring the Espresso machine to work

August 12, 2008 by Tricia

Do you ever take home appliances to work when there’s a party?

My husband does!

Tomorrow his department, the hospital Day Surgery unit, is having a party for one of the staff. They seem to have a party or celebration or some kind of special lunch at least every two weeks. Sometimes, when it’s brunch style, Chris will go to one of our local Greek bakeries and bring in Greek treats like chocolate baklava and other goodies.

Not this time though … This time he’s decided that he’s going to bring in our capresso Espresso machine. He loves pulling out the machine and making Espresso or cappuccino for people whenever we have a dinner party or drop in guests.

Now he’s going to do it for the people he works with. I have a feeling that my Espresso machine won’t come home tomorrow night when he does. They’ll want to keep it there!

So do any of you have espresso machines at work or have a coworker like my husband who brings the machine in for special occasions?

Trying to make the sidebar more appealing

August 12, 2008 by Tricia

I spent some time today rearranging the sidebars on a few of my blogs. It’s amazing how much time tinkering with the look of your site can take! I think I’m good at finding ways to waste time.

Anyway … I didn’t make too many changes to this sites sidebar, but I was wondering what you think of the sidebars in general.

Does it looks organized? Do the sidebars add to the look of the site or distract? Can you find whatever you might be looking for on my site easily by using the sidebar?

We’ve all been to websites that totally turn us off from the first look or first blast of autoplay music. I’m fairly certain my site isn’t one of those, but I’d like to know if I could make it more appealing in any way.

If you have an opinion or suggestion I’d love to hear from you.

Can’t I just be normal for one day?

August 11, 2008 by Tricia

Back in June I had a week or two where I was dizzy all the time. It happened mostly when I’d stand up from a lying or sitting position but sometimes I was dizzy even when I was lying down. I spoke with my doctor about it at the time (the pain doc) and she thought the dizziness might have been caused by a pinched nerve in my neck since the muscles on one side were really tight.

Well the dizziness is back again and I’m not convinced it’s coming from my neck. I’m thinking that it’s probably low blood pressure. When I was a teen I would get really dizzy every morning when I’d get out of bed. It didn’t help that I’d literally jump out of bed when my mom or dad would call me from downstairs to wake up and come and get breakfast. I’d jump up right into a standing position and promptly fall flat on my face! You’d think I’d learn to take it easy getting up after the first few falls, but it took a long time to learn to sit up slowly and then get up. Stupid teenager!

Good ol orthostatic hypotension!

Seeing as I’m a nurse I happen to have my own stethoscope and blood pressure monitor so I think I’m going to take my blood pressure a few times this week. Maybe even a few times a day – perhaps when I’m just sitting and then again if I stand up and feel dizzy. That will help answer whether it’s low blood pressure causing my dizziness or not.

Do you ever get dizzy for no apparent reason?

My dizziness might also be caused by my Crohn’s disease. I’m not sure how … but my Crohn’s has been acting up quite a bit lately so this might just be one more symptom to go along with the fevers, abdo pain and other nastier symptoms.

I hate being sick. I’d love just to have one day where I actually felt ok.
