Enjoy Supercars? Download screensavers and wallpaper

August 13, 2007 by Tricia

I know that a lot of men and some women really get into fine cars and sometimes if you can’t have one the next best thing is to collect models, take photos of them and perhaps even find fine car related wallpaper and screen savers to place on your computer.

The trouble is, there aren’t that many sites that have really nice car related wall paper. However, if you visit the Vcars.co.uk funzone you can find some really nice Supercar wallpapers. The site has 10 super car wallpapers and screensavers.

You’ll find screensavers and wallpapers for Koenigsegg, Saleen, Bugatti, McLaren, Ferrari, Jaguar, Pagani Zonda, Lamborghini Murcielago, Mercedes SLR and my personal favorite fine car the Porsche Carrera.

The screensavers can be downloaded for PC’s, Mac or Linux. They come in different formats because the screensavers actually have built in calenders and clocks. They’re pretty cool. Oh and did I forget to tell you that these downloads are absolutely free? If you have a few favorite super cars you could download more than one wallpaper or screensaver and change them as the mood strikes you.

The Vcar site is also a great website where you can read the Motoring News which reviews new cars, and has news about all the major car manufacturers.

Vcars also makes it easy for those living in the UK to find Used Cars in their area. They have listings for all the dealerships nationwide and you can use their site to compare prices on the make and model of your choice. All round Vcars seems to be a great site for the car enthusiast to visit and perhaps even bookmark.

Social network sites take a chunk of my time each day

August 13, 2007 by Tricia

Did you know that I spend perhaps as much as an hour a day going through all my “friend” invites and other messages that come in from social networks like Mybloglog, Blogcatalog, Facebook, and Bumpzee?

I haven’t actually kept track of how many friend requests come in each day or how long it really does take so my “hour” is an estimate, but I think it’s fairly accurate. When someone makes a friend request or joins my neighborhood I visit the social network site and then I often visit the person who’s just made me a “friend”‘s blog as well. So, yeah, it can take some time.

How much of your time do you think social networking takes you each day or week?

Create your own custom shed at Gazebo Creations

August 13, 2007 by Tricia

I’m sure even one time visitors to this site can easily figure out that I love plants and perhaps even that I have a garden. Long time readers know just how extensive my garden and my passion for gardening really is since I post about it often enough.

The only major thing that my garden is missing is a storage shed of some kind. We actually have a fairly small backyard and when I planned my garden I did so knowing I’d miss out on storage space. I thought I could live with that decision but 6 years later I really do want a storage area since my gardening tool collection has grown as my garden has matured.

Considering that I don’t have a lot of space for a storage shed I’m quite pleased to say that I found a company that makes Custom Storage Sheds. The company is Gazebo Creations and they are located in Pennsylvania.

Now I haven’t gone looking around at many other sites that sell sheds, but I can say that there is a much wider selection of storage shed types at Gazebo Creations than there are at Home Depot and the beauty of ordering a shed from Gazebo Creations is the fact that you can fully customize your storage shed and have it built to order. I can also say that even once you’ve customized a shed it appears that the price is lower than a comparable shed at Home Depot.

All you need to do is click on the link to create your own shed and follow the step by step directions. The first page lets you decide which size of shed you want. The sizes range from 6 x 6 feet to 12 x 16 feet. Since we don’t have much extra space I clicked on the 6′ x6′ option.

On the next page you’ll be give a choice of siding materials. The choices range from Dura-temp siding, Vinyl siding, Cedar lap siding, cedar tongue and groove and pine tongue and groove. I choose the cedar tongue and groove as I love the look of cedar and I know it holds up fairly well to the elements.

Once you’ve decided what materials will be used to construct the frame and outside of your shed you’ll be taken to a page where you can select additional options such as what type of flooring will be inside the shed, whether your shed will have no windows or more than one window, what type of roof shingles to use and what color of shingles to use, and finally, you’ll be able to select the style of door you’d like to have on your shed and if you’d like an additional door.

There are a number of other additional options to choose from as well such as the addition of window flower boxes, vents, gutters, taller walls, skylights and so on. By requesting any of these extra options you’ll truly be creating a unique shed.

Once you are happy with the shed that you’ve created you can decide whether your shed should be shipped assembled, or pre-assembled. The very bottom of the page shows your selection and updates as you customize your shed with the various options. When you are ready you can request a shipping quote for the shed that you’ve just created.

See isn’t that easy?

There are also a number of shed packages you can choose from. I presume these are popular styles that have been selected time and time again in the past by clients so they’ve made it easy for us to just pick a shed that’s already been fully customized.

I’m going to have to show my husband this site and the shed that I just created with all the options that I added before even thinking about placing an order, but you never know, I may soon have my own gazebocreations.com custom shed.

If you’d like a storage shed why don’t you visit the site and click on the create a custom shed link to see what you can come up with for your yard. If you purchase a shed from Gazebo Creations I’m certain you’ll be pleased with how nice they look.

I think I need an new email program

August 9, 2007 by Tricia

My email program is acting funny. I use Eudora, a program that is apparently not going to be updated anymore.

I’ve got the most recent installation on this computer, but every once in a while it freezes up. It will start working again after three to five minutes but it’ll freeze when I’m deleting an email or when I click on something within an email.

It’s only done this two or three times, most often after the laptop has been on for a long while and perhaps went into hibernation mode, but today for the first time it’s freezing up and I’ve only been using the laptop for two hours – with no breaks.

The only difference today is that there was a Java update. I guess I should reboot and see if that fixes my email program.
Weird.

Anyway, it looks like I might have to look for a new email program soon. I hate Outlook express. Any ideas? I’ve always loved Eudora … If I could find a new email program similar to Eudora I’d be happy.

I can’t believe I got such a great camera

August 9, 2007 by Tricia

I’m so happy with my new camera! I think I’ve had the camera for about a month now and every time I take a photo with it I’m just amazed at how well they turn out. My other camera took great photos but it didn’t do so well with low light or night time conditions. My new SLR doesn’t seem to have a problem with low light – well provided that I make sure it’s at the correct settings.

I’m didn’t even read any digital camera articles before I bought my camera. Oh, I’d done some research on and off over the past year, but just prior to purchasing my camera I didn’t read any write ups about them. I just went to a few stores and tried the camera’s out. I checked all the settings and got a good feel for how each camera felt in my hands and ended up getting the Canon EOS 30D SLR Digital camera.

I’ve still got a lot to learn about my new camera and I definitely want to buy a macro and a telephoto lens for it, but I’m happy to putter with the accessories that the camera came with for now.

Do you love your camera?
