Dragon Naturally Speaking Medical cuts transcription costs for medical professionals

September 4, 2007 by Tricia

The next time I go to work I’m going to have to tell the doctors that I work with in the ER about Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking – Medical dictation software.

Many of the doctors that I work with in the ER, regular medical doctors and specialists, dictate their notes via a phone service after they’ve seen a patient. Now, if they installed Dragon Naturally Speaking Medical on their office computer they could simply dictate their patient notes at their own computer. This software could dramatically lower transcription costs for hospitals, doctors offices and medical centers.

This software is said to have 99% accuracy. Dragon naturally speaking can be used with any type of medical software application as well as the full Microsoft Office Suite. I’ve used Dragon Naturally Speaking in the past, but this special Medical version contains a complete library of 14 medical specialty vocabularies covering over 60 sub specialties. The software can of course be further customized for individual specialty practices.

If you are a medical professional think about how Dragon Naturally Speaking Medical might save time and money for your office or practice.

Site troubles again – anyone know of a good VPS service?

August 31, 2007 by Tricia

Ok so who noticed that all of my blogs on the feverishthoughts.com domain were down from about 9:30 pm until 4 a.m. this morning?

What a PAIN.

Yeah, my site overused CPU resources, again. Or something happened. At least Hostgator, my newish webhost, was able to tell me which domain was affected. I guess I took a lot of hits on the index file of this blog all at once. Either a lot of people tried to visit all at the same time or there was some kind of bot or spam attack going on.

At least this time, with Hostgator, they were nice enough to only shut down my feverishthoughts.com domain. Now that’s got seven blogs on it so the sites being down on it for any length of time isn’t good. However, I still had two of my websites and two blogs up and running while feverishthoughts.com was down.

The last time I had cpu overuse troubles, when I was with another host back in July, they suspended my whole account!

I’m still not sure if this was an attack or if I have traffic problems. My sites are busy … but I’m still not sure that they are busy enough to move to Virtual private hosting (VPS).

Well, just in case this issue crops up again soon I’d better start looking for VPS hosting. If anyone knows of a webhosting company that offers VPS and has very good service I’d appreciate hearing about them.

BTW I certainly hope that my sites behave over the long weekend. We’re having our family reunion so I won’t really be around much. I’ll either be away from home or when I’m here I’ll probably have guests. I don’t want to have my sites go down and have to worry about that while I’m trying to have fun with my family. That would suck.

What three words are important to you?

August 30, 2007 by Tricia

Have you been watching the new ABC television show I-Caught? I think the show is on Tuesday nights. I’m not sure because I recorded the show and didn’t watch it until last night.

I’ve watched two episodes of I-Caught so far and I really like the show. It seems to center around the crazy things people do, and how they broadcast there ideas on the internet, often through videos submitted to YouTube.

The shows About page states:

What is i-CAUGHT? Well – we all know there’s a video revolution swirling around us all – 24/7. Ask yourself… how many times were you caught on surveillance video today? Did you – like more than 100,000 other people – upload a video onto the internet? Did you go online like millions of others and watch a video?

We’re ALL a part of this new video revolution.

But it’s more than just entertainment. Every one of these videos has a story behind it. Who made it? What was going on behind the scenes? What came after it? And how much can we really believe what we see?

An awful lot of it is also news. The politician caught on an open mic. The policeman caught doing the heroic – or the opposite. The patrol on the streets of Baghdad. Or the moment when Mother Nature wreaks havoc on the ususpecting. We’re watching – literally – as every single person with a video camera can gather news for all the rest of us.

We call this new television and internet experience i-CAUGHT. Because that’s how so many people feel these days. Everywhere you look – cameras – catching everything: breaking news… making headlines… turning unknowns into celebrities… turning others into laughing stocks…

And for all the world to see – in an instant. It’s video at the speed of life.

Every week, i-CAUGHT brings you the real stories – reporting on the real people – behind the videos that millions of us watch and share everyday.

I didn’t see last weeks episode, but they apparently asked their views to submit via video three words that they feel are important to them. The words could have something to do with life in general or reflect how the person felt about their day or week. It didn’t matter as long as it was three words.

At the end of this weeks episode they showed a video they’d put together. It was composed of many of the submissions that people had provided over the last week. I’d put the video in this post, but I fear that it’s autoplay and I loath autoplay videos on websites.

Some of the submissions were humorous, others were inspiring and some were just sad. As I watched the video my eyes got a little misty. That’s how deeply some of those simple three word submissions touched me. If you’d like to watch the video just visit “Your 3 Words”. You might even be inspired to submit your own video.

Yes, they are still accepting submissions. When Chris and I heard that we decided that we’d each make a short three word video too. Who knows maybe our videos will become part of the I-Caught Your Three Words video montage.

Do you need customized intranet software for your business?

August 30, 2007 by Tricia

A few years ago when I worked for a plastic surgeon I learned how important it sometimes is for businesses to have customized intranet software. Another thing that I learned from that experience is that it’s very important that whichever company you purchase customized intranet software from should have good customer service.

I was just visiting the Epazz Inc website. This is a company that specializes in customized intranet software. They work with businesses such as large corporations, the public sector and higher education institutions.

If I were looking into purchasing a web application for my business I do think that I’d consider the services of Epazz Inc. First and foremost they offer a free 30 day trial of their software. You can’t beat that! They also work to seamlessly integrate their software into your backend systems.

Their unique BoxesOS applications can be used to create virtual communities, provide powerful collaboration, as well as group scheduling, website content management and business email solutions. Their applications can be personalized right down to end-user level and can also be used to improve workflow.

To learn more about Epazz Inc’s customized intranet software visit the site and try their live demo.

I love finding great coupon deals at the Deal Locker

August 27, 2007 by Tricia

Have I told you about deallocker.com yet? I came across the Deal Locker website a couple of weeks ago and I’ve quickly become a fan of this wonderful site.

Why? What’s so special about it? Well, you can find 1000’s of discounts and coupons for products and stores throughout North America and several other countries throughout the world.

I love this site. Not only can you save money by either using coupon codes or printable coupons that you find on the site at online stores, grocery stores, retail and department stores, but you can also sign up for a free membership and add coupons or coupon codes that you’ve found in order to share them with others.

You won’t find coupon listings on this site that have already expired either. The Deal Locker prides itself on having current listings.

There’s also another feature that I find very helpful. When you use a coupon on the site you can come back and rate it. By this I mean you can state whether the coupon worked properly for you or not. As you probably know there’s nothing worse than finding a great deal on the net and then discovering that the promo code that you used didn’t work.

When you search through the site for coupons for a particular item, category or store you results will come up under “recommended coupons”. Those are coupons that have been rated by site members. You’ll also see that there’s a tab at the top of your coupon results that says “All Coupons” where you can find brand new coupons, ones that have yet to be rated and a few that haven’t always worked well for others, but that might work for you.

As I said there’s literally thousands of listings and the site is easy to use. If you’re thinking about purchasing a new computer simply click on the category tab, find the listing for Computer Coupons and search through the results to find a coupon or discount code that suits your needs.

You can also click on the store tab and find a specific store to see if they have any deals on items that you might want to buy. For example, if you know that you’ll be visiting Walmart on the weekend why not do a quick search for Walmart Coupons to see if there are any printable coupons that you can use while in the store?

Honestly, I’m going to try to use this site whenever I know I’m going out to shop at a department store. Of course I might find some online coupon deals that I could use instead. I really don’t mind whether I purchase something online or otherwise, but I do care about saving money and I’m certain that if I check this site regularly I’ll easily find savings.

Visit deallocker.com yourself and see what deals you can find.
