Cool gadgets for your pet

April 3, 2008 by Tricia

Anyone who’s visited this site in the last five months or so would have to be blind not to have noticed that I talk about our Labrador Retriever puppy at least once a week. We got her last November and she’s become a huge part of each and every day since she arrived in our home.

When I write about our Lab puppy Midnight many of you have taken the time to share stories about your own puppies and adult dogs. Some of you miss those puppy days and others have offered great tips that have helped keep me sane as I try to train Midnight. I really appreciate all of your comments. They’ve helped!

I’ve never been much of an online shopper, however since we got Midnight I find myself searching various online pet shops for interesting toys and other items that I could buy her. She’s a very pampered puppy! Not only have I bought her a new bed online, but I’ve also purchased treats, a fashionable doggy coat, and at least a dozen toys!

One of the stores that I’ve browsed and will likely purchase some items from in the near future is Pet Gadgets. Their tag line is PetGadgets.com – Innovative Pet Products and it suits their online store perfectly.

Pet Gadgets has some really cool items. Ones that I haven’t seen at other online pet shops. For instance they have items such as PetPeek which is a bubble window for your fence so your pet can look out at the world, a dog house air conditioner and heater, a vibrating pet massager, an Adirondack Dog Chair and hundreds of other great items.

Just like any pet store they have a wide range of products for all types of pets. You’ll find training supplies, auto accessories, waste management products and solutions, bowls, feeders, collars, leashes, eco-friendly products, treats, toys, grooming tools and even items for handicapped pets.

I think I’ve looked at just about every section of the site and I was amazed at the variety of products and how handy many of them seem. As I said earlier they have items that you just won’t find in other pet stores and online stores. I found the prices to be quite reasonable as well.

If you have a pet it’s definitely worth taking a moment to visit Pet Gadgets. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Glad I wasn’t on that bus!

Tell me I’m wrong and that’s not a double decker bus squished under that bridge? I certainly hope that there weren’t any passengers in the upper level when the bus crashed! Can you imagine the kind of injuries!

I’d say that the driver had better start sending out cover letters as I’m sure he or she is out of a job! I wouldn’t want that accident on my record!

I hope that everyone had a great April Fools day. Did you play any good pranks on anyone? What did you do?

Puppy attack

April 2, 2008 by Tricia

Last night I was lying on the couch watching TV and my Lab puppy, Midnight, became very interested in me. My husband was lying on the loveseat which is at a right angle to the couch and our puppy was sitting on the floor between the couch and loveseat.

She kept looking at me and lifting her paw up onto the couch beside my head. Now, normally when she wants on the couch she goes to the other end and lies down at my feet. This time she wanted to be right near my head.

I invited her up and pretty much immediately regretted it! She started licking my right ear. Slurp, slurp, slurp nibble. I don’t know how she does it but she manages to get her tongue right in there! I’m thankful that she’s getting bigger. When she was smaller her little tongue really got inside the ear and created painful suction!

After she was done with my right ear she nibbled my hair, licked my cheek and then moved on to my left ear. It didn’t matter which way I turned. She was bent on licking me!

The puppy attack only took a minute or two, but she was so focused on me that I had to get off the couch to get away from her.

I was covered in slobber. I had to get a tissue to dry out my ears! Bleah!

What’s blooming in your garden?

Pink Tulip

So far we don’t have any spring flowers blooming in our garden. In fact most of our yard and garden beds are still covered in snow. However, I’m sure that’s not the case for everyone! Surely some of you are starting to see spring flowers?

I’m getting antsy to see our plants start to sprout from the ground. It’s warming up and the snows melting so I know I won’t have to wait much longer.

The flower that I’ve posted today is one of my Angelique tulips. This is a double flowering tulip. When it blooms it has an abundance of petals and almost looks like a rose. It’s lovely and it has a nice light scent as well.

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information. GTS participants remember to check in at As the Garden Grows each week so that we’ll know you made a new post!

Going on Vacation? This site has great flight and hotel deals

March 26, 2008 by Tricia

You know how I keep saying that I need a vacation after this horrible winter we’ve had? Well, it was suggested that I take a look at an internet travel website called Cfares. So I did, and I was quite pleased with what I saw.

At Cfares you can find the best rates for airline tickets, hotels or combo fight and hotel packages.

We really enjoyed our trip to Las Vegas last Autumn and we’ve both said that we’d like to go back to Vegas again soon so we can have a better look around and do more things than we did on our last visit. So I decided to check flight prices to Vegas in April.

Cfares cross checks prices with major online travel agencies, wholesalers and airlines to find the best deals. When I did my search for flights to Las Vegas from Toronto I was pleased to see that I had at least a couple of hundred choices come up. The prices were quite reasonable too.

Actually the prices were much lower than the ones I was offered for my November trip so not being sure if there is a regular price difference for those traveling in April versus November, I also did a search for flight prices in November. As I thought there must be a difference because the November flight prices were about $50 to $75 higher than the April prices that I had just been offered.

One thing that I liked about the site is that once it comes up with flight prices for you many of the result tabs also allow you to check for flight and hotel combination packages too. So just by clicking a button you can see some great deals that include hotel stays as well.

If anything there are perhaps too many results! Of course I was just testing the site out as I don’t know when we might be able to take a few days or a weeks vacation. If I was seriously searching for the best deal I’m certain I’d be very pleased with the amount of flight deal results I got as I’d be searching the best prices.

You can also use the site to search for the best hotel prices too.

I’m certain that Chris and I will go on a trip within the next month or two so I’ll be bookmarking this site. If you’re planning a trip you should bookmark the site too, I’m sure it will come in handy!
