Is it the flu?

May 27, 2008 by Tricia

Earlier this evening, just after Chris got home from work, I suddenly became really nauseated. I have no idea why.

I tend to get mildly nauseated quite often due to the Crohn’s disease, but what I experienced this evening was full on nausea. I hope I don’t have the flu.

I was laying on my side on the couch doing something on the laptop when it hit me. I decided to just try lying flat to see if that would help and it made it worse. It took about two hours to settle down again – all of the time with me thinking I was going to toss my cookies at any moment. Bleh.

Needless to say we didn’t have the nice steak that we were planning on barbecuing. We had macaroni. Other than soup it was the only bland thing I could think of that probably wouldn’t upset my stomach even more. I’m not the biggest fan of mac and cheese either so I guess I had another awful dinner.

Hopefully I feel better tomorrow after a good sleep.

In other news … I think Midnight has started to figure out how to undo the latches on her crate. Two or three times in the last week I’ve found one undone when I know they were both done up. I guess we’ll have to get one of those small tsa locks to put on the crate when we go out if she keeps this up.

Darn smart puppy.

Waiting for blooms

Geranium Johnson's Blue

My garden is at the awkward stage that comes every year around this time.

The tulips are still in bloom, but they are aging and will soon be gone. The roses are in bud but haven’t flowered yet. The clematis, peonies, Rhododendron, and Johnson’s Blue Geranium (above) are also in bud ….

But I’m waiting for blooms.

Don’t get me wrong. The garden looks lovely. However, after the long cold very snowy winter we had this year I’m longing for those bursts of color in the garden that I so enjoy.

I’m thankful that I have so many pictures to look at as I wait to see these plants burst with new blossoms.

Disgusting dinner

May 24, 2008 by Tricia

We had dinner a little while ago and ugh, it was disgusting.

You know you can buy frozen chinese food in the grocery store? Frozen chicken balls, frozen veggie spring rolls? Yeah … well don’t. Bleh!

As I said in my last post I’ve been really busy working on my main website over the last two or three days and at the same time I’ve also been really hungry – like acidy stomach hungry. So Chris decided to whip up a quick dinner for us while I finished up the last little things I had to do on the website. He made rice and that was fine, but the chicken balls and spring rolls that he pulled out of our freezer and then cooked up were just plain yucky.

The next time I get a craving for Chinese food … I’ll pull out my passport and go to China. Nah … we’ll go downtown to Toronto’s Chinatown. There’s some very tasty Asian food there. Yum. I definitely won’t be buying frozen Chinese food again! Not that brand anyway.

Have you ever purchased pre-made frozen food or packaged food and thought it was going to be delicious but ended up being seriously disappointed?

Grape Hyacinths and hosta – Oh My!

Muscari and Hosta 2

Don’t these grape hyacinths (muscari) look just lovely in front of the yellow green leaves of Hosta Sum and Substance? It’s a lovely color combination isn’t it?

This photo was actually taken last summer. I’ve been too busy this week to get the photos of the garden that I did take this past week transfered from my camera to the computer. If anything the muscari looks even nicer this year. I will get to those photos shortly!

I picked this picture for this post because I thought it might look great with the new theme for Tricia’s Musings too.

My garden is doing wonderfully this year. There’s only one rose that’s struggling and all the rest of the roses and other plants seem to be doing well. I think we’ll really enjoy our backyard this year.

Oh speaking of enjoying the backyard and garden, our puppies having fun with it too. Yesterday we watered the garden and of course Midnight was outside with us on her leash. She loves the garden hose. She spent all her time trying to get her head and mouth under the water. I kept telling her that she’s going to love that cool hose water come summer.
