I really have to stop watching late night TV

May 3, 2007 by Tricia

OMG … have you seen that stupid show on the Comedy Network called Distraction? It’s been canceled now- I think for good reason!

It’s a UK comedy game show. They make the contestants do the craziest things like sit under full bird cages as they answer questions and of course the birds are pooping on them the whole time. I’ve also seen them have to drink their own urine, stick their hands in cactus’ to push the buzzer so that they can answer a question, and uhm use their mouths to take stuck on numbered answers off of big naked people.

I can’t think of particularly dangerous stunts right now that I’ve seen the contestants have to do, but I know that there have been some that made me think that “These people must sign away their lives before they go on the show”.

Have you seen this show? Of course you haven’t. Most of you are in bed at 3 am aren’t you? Not me obviously. I’ve been stuck watching far too many of these stupid shows for my liking. Trouble is there really isn’t much else on.

Are they really Dead on Lost?

May 3, 2007 by Tricia

Does anyone watch Lost?

I enjoy watching it each week just to see if I can figure out what kinds of twists and turns might happen before they actually happen.

So it seems that flight 815 was found in the Ocean it was confirmed that all the passengers were dead? Huh? Then what does that mean? Is everyone that’s on the island now really dead? Living in some kind of hell as was implied on Wednesdays show by Locks father?

Oh yeah, I totally knew that Locke didn’t kidnap Ben. I knew he was leading Sawyer to his father, and I wasn’t all that surprised to find that Sawyer had a connections with Lockes’ father too. It seems that everyone of the characters on the show has had a past connection of some kind.

I think there’s a couple shows left to go before the season ends. How do you think they’ll leave things for the summer?

I want to get out of this place

May 1, 2007 by Tricia

Well, the way I’m feeling today I think I’m might just get on a plane and take a break. I’ve always wanted to go to Egypt and even the middle east. Perhaps I should just take a last minute holidays to Sharm or may be not. It’s probably too hot there right now anyway.

I’d be happy enough to just get away to the cottage for a while too. That would be cheaper. Plus it’s the right time of year to do that here anyway. Yeah, the cottage does sound good. I’d barbeque everyday too.

One place that I will not be going in a month is PostieC0n in Florida because the time and place have just been changed! Can you believe that? I haven’t been to visit the P-P forums yet but I’m sure they are going wild. I think there’s going to be a lot of upset people.

You ever feel so fed up with something that you just want to kick things?

Dinner and a meeting

May 1, 2007 by Tricia

Saturday night Chris and I got together with an advertiser that I’d done a post for earlier in the month. It turned out that he lived in the Toronto area, enjoyed my writing, and that he offered me a free lance job writing on his company blog a few times each week.

So Chris and I went to meet with him Saturday night and we had a great time. Paul’s a really nice guy and a very good cook. I must get some of the marinade that he used on the steaks that he served us. The steaks were nice and tender and had a mildly sweet honey taste to them. Mmmmm.

Paul has an electric and acoustic guitar so Chris entertained us here and there by playing some tunes on the guitar.

All in all it was a nice little get together and very nice for me since I don’t seem to get out much lately. I’ll let you know more about the blog that I’ll be writing on soon so that you can come and visit me there too if you’d like.

What did you do last weekend?

BTW very few of you guys clicked on the post that I did for Paul. Don’t some of you do some work in your homes? Redesign a room? Remodeling? Put in a new kitchen or bathroom? Don’t you want to win and earn $5000 that you could put towards your reno projects?

Since I might end up working for this company I can’t enter. I really want to enter though, because as you probably know we’ve got several ongoing reno projects and we’ve documented them from start to finish as we went.

Over did it in the Garden?

April 30, 2007 by Tricia

I was working in the garden yesterday for the first time in seven months! Oh my how my back is hurting now (2:45 a.m.). It’s stiff all the way to the tail bone and the bottom of my left foot is numb. I must have pinched a nerve.

I hope I didn’t hurt myself too badly because I’d like to get back out into the garden later today to finish up my work. Well, ok, I got half of the flower beds in the back yard garden finished, I’d at least like to finish the other half of the backyard today. I’ll still have some planting at the side of the house, the front garden and the boulevard to finish after that. One task at a time.

I actually felt pretty good while I was outside working. My stomach wasn’t bothering me and I was happy puttering away and getting my hands dirty. It’s always that way when I’m in the garden though. I don’t know that I might be hurting myself until later. Actually I’m like that with a lot of things – when I get a sunburn it doesn’t come out for hours, often when I’m out of the sun and that’s when I go oh oh!

Several years ago when I first got my roses I was busy trying to plant all of them at once. digging holes, amending the soil and planting each rose one at a time. I think I had something like 25 roses to plant and it took me a whole day to do it. My heel kept hurting as I worked. I thought that I might have had a blister but I kept working. It wasn’t until the next day that I discovered that my left foot and lower left leg were black and blue and totally swollen up. I’d ripped a tendon from the middle of my calf to the underside of the middle of my foot! OW. It took a full year to heal! (healing took a long time because I was doing 12 hour nursing shifts- always on my feet!)

So while gardening might be good for me mentally – it’s a stress release and it makes me happy – it’s not good for me physically because I don’t notice that I’m injuring myself until it’s too late!

Please cross your fingers that my back is only slightly strained and is back in working order about 12 hours from now.
