Shopping for the holidays? Here’s a way to save money

September 19, 2007 by Tricia

The holidays will be upon us soon and I’m sure that many of you have already started shopping. I’m definitely not one of those people who are ready for the holidays three months in advance, but I know some of you might be finished shopping already.

If you are beginning to shop for the holidays you might want to visit webbyplanet.com. It’s an e-commerce search site where you can find great deals, discounts, coupons and free shipping at over 5000 retail and online stores.

When you visit Webbyplanet.com you can browse through the shopping categories or do a search for the product for which you are hoping to find a deal or coupon. Once you find the store or product you were looking for you can browse through the listings to find coupons that you can print and use for in store purchases, or you can find coupon codes to use while online.

Each listing links to the store the coupon or deal is related to and that makes it easy to take advantage of the bargain you found and shop for it right away.

Looking through the site I found quite a few deals and coupons. Many of the listings were for $10 to $20 off an item or service, and other listings gave discounts in percentages of 15% to 35% and higher. All of the listings are in chronological order which means the ones at the top are the newest listings.

Visit WebbyPlanet today and start saving money at online stores like Eddie Bauer, Buy.com, Overstock.com, Sephora and more!

Ready to buy a telephoto lense

September 18, 2007 by Tricia

The other day I decided to do some serious hunting for a telephoto lens for my Canon Digital SLR camera.

I found two lenses that I wanted to purchase. On Amazon of all places, and the price wasn’t too bad, but then I noticed that they would only ship those items to American addresses.

So … who knows of a great place to get camera lenses and accessories online for a good price? A place that ships throughout North America of course. Maybe Ebay? Any other ideas for me?

I was all set to plunk down about $700! It’s there loss. I’ll find the lenses I want at a good price somewhere else.

Watching the oldies but goodies

September 18, 2007 by Tricia

While I was lying on the couch earlier today trying to recover from the severe pain I was in last night and trying to sleep I scanned through the channels and I came across a station that was playing really old television shows.

I watched episodes of Lassie, Happy Days, Maude, and All in the family – remember Archie Bunker? I haven’t seen any of those shows in ages! You know, shows like All in the Family are still funny today. Yeah it was a politically incorrect show, but it had it’s funny moments.

It was sad to think that the majority of the cast that I saw on All in the Family are long gone. It just goes to show how old that show really is I guess!

Do you ever scan the channels and stop to watch an old show that you might not have seen since you were a kid?

I can’t wait for Heroes to start next week!

September 17, 2007 by Tricia

Just for the heck of it my husband and I watched Heroes this evening.

As I suspected it was last years season finale that they were showing this evening. When you enjoy a show as much as Chris and I enjoy Heroes it doesn’t hurt to watch the previous seasons finale just before the new season starts as it helps you remember exactly where the show left off when you last saw it.

Did you watch the show? Did you see the end? Hiro seems to have either gone into the distant past or ended up in the middle of a re-enactment of a historic scene … I won’t say what it was in case you didn’t see it, but I suspect that that’s where this seasons premiere will begin.

The ginger colored hunter

September 17, 2007 by Tricia

Each year we have a cat or two or ten that seem to enjoy hanging around our yard through the summer. There’s a few that I see year after year, but there always seems to be a new one or two each year as well.

This year we’ve been seeing a cat, that I’ll simply call “ginger” due to it’s light orange color, hanging around our front and back yard. Well, not just our yard. It likes to crouch down under our “karaoke neighbors” front shrubs, or I see it skulking across other neighbors lawns on most days.

Earlier today when I was looking out an upstairs window I saw Ginger cat lying in my elderly neighbors garden. It was hiding underneath her many pepper plants. If the cat had been slightly darker in color I wouldn’t have even noticed it as it was well hidden, but due to it’s color and the fact that I was looking at from 20 or more feet above I could see it fairly well. I scratched the window screen to see if it would react and ginger cat looked right up at me.

Ever since we’ve moved here we’ve had a number of creatures in our and our neighbors backyard. Raccoons, cats, squirrels, mice and yes I’ve even seen rats! I don’t think we have any rats living in our garden or on our property, but I’m sure some live in our neighbors shed and under the back porch of another neighbor. Mice too of course.

I think Ginger cat was patiently lying in wait for a mouse or rat to cross it’s path.

Prior to realizing what the cat was probably doing I was going to scare the cat out of my neighbors garden, but when it occurred to me that it was likely doing me and my neighbors a service I left it undisturbed. I don’t really like to think about animals hunting one another, but neither do I like the idea of rats and mice running around my yard, so I guess I’m hoping that Ginger cat was successful and had a good meal this afternoon.

I suppose that’s the main reason why I’ve seen so many cats in our yard and our neighbors yards over the years. They really shouldn’t be out – I’m sure they have homes and their owners just let them out. However, if they are going to hang around I hope they are catching animals like the mice and rats that I know would soon overrun the area without some form of pest control.

I should look out my upstairs window more often. I saw a squirrel doing some strange stuff too. I wrote about it on my gardening blog and I’ll link to the post as soon as I publish it.
