Shop from home with catalogs from Catalogs.com

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

catalogs.jpg

Do you enjoy the privacy of shopping in your own home? Perhaps you shop online or like to browse through catalogs and have your purchases mail ordered to your home? If you like doing either of those activities a website that might interest you is catalogs.com.

Catalogs.com has been in helping shoppers find and order catalogs that will assist them in buying the products they are interested in purchasing. The site has been providing this free service for over a decade.

Whether you are shopping for clothing, products for your home, or items that will assist you with your hobby or interest you’ll be able to find catalogs to fit your needs at Catalogs.com.

On the site you’ll find listings for well known home shopping magazines such as Omaha Steaks, LL Bean, FAO Schwartz, Lane Bryant and many more.

There are over 35 catalog categories to browse through, and hundreds if not thousands of catalogs that you could potentially order.

If you are a gardener like me you might want to browse through the great selection of catalogs in the Garden and Yard section. Interested in Music and instruments? Check out the Books-Music-DVD section as well as Musical Instruments. If you’re a hobbyist the Art-Hobbies-Crafts section is a must.

There are Catalog listings for parents, those interested in clothing, fashion and beauty, automobiles, computers and electronics, fitness and outdoor activities plus many more listings.

Once you find a catalog that interests you, you can read a full description of the catalog and order it free of charge. Many of the catalogs are linked to the various companies websites which is great because you can begin shopping online if you’d like while you wait for your catalog order to arrive in the mail.

You might wonder why people order catalogs these days when so many companies offer online shopping? Well, you can browse through a catalog at your leisure just about anywhere. You can share your catalog with family and friends who might not have access to a computer as well. Plus, if you do have family or friends who are interested in making purchases through the catalog that you showed them you might get a nice discount for making a larger order than you would have on your own.

One last reason why you might be interested in ordering a catalog – many of the catalogs listed also have special offers such as a certain amount of money or a percentage off your first purchase when your make an order through the catalog.

One important piece of information that you should know about Catalogs.com is that there are NO memberships. You get whatever you ordered and nothing else. They also respect your privacy as they clearly state on their “About” page that they do not share your name, address or email address with anyone, but the catalog company from which you ordered your catalog.

Extra’s on the site include the Catalogs.com blog Shopaholics, a very funny shopping humor website, shoppers advice, news and articles, and Catalogs.com free monthly newsletter.

It appears that they will ship catalogs worldwide so anyone can use this site. I’d say that this site is a catalog shoppers dream site. Visit today. I’m sure you’ll find an interesting catalog or two to order.

Is it summer again? It’s so hot and humid!

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

I can’t believe how hot it is today! It’s after 9 pm and it’s 28 Celsius with a humidity factor that makes it feel like it’s 36 Celsius outside! Do you know how hot 36 C is? That’s 96.8 F.

Isn’t it autumn now? Am I not in a country that the rest of the world thinks is cold all the time?

It’s normal for it to be in the low 70’s or high 60’s during the day and cool to perhaps the low 50’s at this time of year in this area. That won’t be happening tonight. It’s supposed to be fairly warm for another day or two and then we’ll get back to normal seasonal temperatures.

Well … maybe my Tomatoes that I had to bring into our enclosed porch last week when the night time temps dropped to freezing last week will have a chance at continuing to grow. There’s several small to medium sized green tomatoes on the two plants that I brought into the porch. I’d love for them to ripen!

We got off to a slow start with our Tomatoes this year. I planted them too late and the strange “cool then hot plus not enough rain” summer we had didn’t help. We’ve only had one ripe full sized tomato so far and I love tomatoes.

I learned my lesson though. Next year I’m starting my tomatoes in March and planting them in mid-May if the weathers co-operating.

You know how much I love tomatoes? I can eat them like an apple. Yum.

Thumbplay your site for online mobile entertainment and great contests

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

I think just about everyone has a cellphone these days. Even if you’re like my husband and I and don’t use it all that much they’re handy to have on hand.

The latest cellphones on the market have all kinds of fun features such as the ability to view and record video, play music, upload ringtones, play games and many other functions.

If you’d like to individualize your cellphone by adding wallpapers, games, or uploading new ringtones you might be interested in visiting Thumbplay.com.

Thumbplay isn’t just a ringtone site. It’s a community. Site members can exchange photos, videos, leave comments for one another, sign up for cool text based services and even compete in cool thumbplay competitions such as their current “Funniest Video”, “Show us your Tattoo” and “Friends” contests.

There are some great prizes for the contests I’ve mentioned above such as 42″ Plasma TV, a Sony Cyber-shot Digital Camera, and a brand new Sony Handycam Camcorder.

Why don’t you visit Thumbplay.com and see what they have to offer. Enter some of those contests while you’re there too. The contests not only sound fun, but they offer some fantastic prizes!

I love my PVR

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

I’m so happy I have a PVR. As you might be able to tell I’m still busy working on my blogs this evening. The only problem, for me that is, is that many of my favorite shows have their premieres on right now.

No worries! Earlier today I looked through the channels and found all the show I wanted to record on the PVR. So shows like Bones and NCIS which I think are premieres are taping while I’m busy typing away.

The only downside to all this is that Chris came home from work at 8 pm and he’s not so patiently waiting for me to finish my computer work so we can settle down and watch these shows together.

I’ll get there soon hun!

Oh and another thing I like about having a PVR … Last night there were a lot of new shows premiering. Of course we wanted to watch the shows that we’re already hooked on like Heroes and CSI Miami – some of which were playing while the brand new series were premiering. Again – no problem. I can tape two shows at once. So we ended up taping about 8 programs last night. Of course we didn’t get to watch all of them so they are stored on the PVR’s hard drive and we can watch them at our leisure. Did I mention that we can also zoom through commercials on the shows we’ve taped. Oh I like that too!

Did you hear about Led Zeppelin’s comeback concert?

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

If you can’t tell from my last post I’ll just spit it out – I love music. Music of all kinds, but my favorite is Rock n’ Roll. Especially classic rock.

I’m sure that everyone has a band or two – from any kind of music genre – that is not only an all time favorite, but who’s music can bring back memories of earlier times. There are some songs that make me feel like a teenager again when I hear them playing.

Led Zeppelin is one of those bands. I just love their music. I think I’ve got every record they ever produced. Chris is a huge Zeppelin fan too.

So you can imagine how stoked we were when we heard that Led Zeppelin is getting back together for a concert at the 02 in London on November 26th. To the best of my knowledge that’s their only planned concert. If Zeppelin fans are lucky perhaps they’ll plan a tour for 2008. Now wouldn’t that be fantastic!

led_zeppelin.jpg

The concert is a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun – the founder of Atlantic records who died last year. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham’s son Jason will get together at the O2 Dome to play at this tribute concert. Apparently other rock legends such as Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini will also perform. All of these artists were associated with Ertegun at one time or another over the years.

Unfortunately there’s absolutely no way that we could travel to London to see the concert. It’s just not possible for us. My only hope of seeing their comeback concert is if it’s either shown live on TV or if it’s at least filmed.

I know that many of my readers live in Europe. Perhaps some of you are planning on getting Concert Tickets and attending the show? If you do, I hope you take photos and make some posts about the concert because I’ll want to hear all about it.

If you live in the the EU and really want to attend the concert you might want to visit Viagogo and sign up to be notified if and when Tickets for this concert become available.

Actually Viagogo seems like a very interesting website. It’s supposedly the leading ticket hub in Europe.

It’s basically an online ticket exchange where people can buy and sell tickets to live events such as the Led Zeppelin comeback concert, Arts and Theatre tickets, and even Sports Tickets for football, rugby, horse racing and other sporting events.

I don’t even know if we have a site such as this in North America, but I’d love it if we did. I mean, say you really have your heart set on attending a concert. You could visit the site and see if anyone has listed extra tickets for the event. Of course it works well for ticket holders that bought tickets for an event, but then find that they can’t attend for some reason and need to sell their tickets quickly.

That certainly sounds a lot better than standing outside of an event location hoping to either buy or sell your tickets to those passing by doesn’t it? Much more secure. In fact here’s Viagogo’s guarantee:

At viagogo, every transaction is guaranteed. To support this, we offer full ticket tracking, managed logistics and live customer service support.

* Buyers: Once you purchase a ticket or win an auction and receive a confirmation email from us, viagogo makes sure that you receive your ticket on time for the event. If a problem arises and you do not receive your ticket, viagogo will provide similar or better tickets at the same cost.

* Sellers: We collect the money once the purchase occurs so we can make sure that you get paid.

I don’t know about you, but with that guarantee I’d be happy to buy or sell tickets through Viagogo.

Keep Viagogo in mind the next time you hear of a concert, theatre or sporting event that you’d like to attend.

Oh and if anyone attends the Led Zeppelin comeback concert I’d really love to hear all about it. Remember me!
