Chris and I went out on Saturday to see my nephews photo exhibit. We didn’t realize that there was a large outdoor art exhibit going on! My brother had made it sound like it was a small event, but it turned out that the Outdoor art exhibition has been going on for 40 years! There were 500 artists displaying their work.

I’m sure you can imagine how hard it was to find my nephew!

It’s a great thing that we went though. I visited each booth and in one of the booths we found an artist that created these glass fish. They were gorgeous!

When I saw them I thought that they’d be perfect for the “fake” theme for this weeks photo hunters. Yes I’m a little behind getting my post up, but I think I found a creative “fake” item.

This weeks Theme is Shiny

This is a photo of Cloud Gate. It’s a sculpture in Downtown Chicago. Locals call it “The Bean”. It’s amazing! When we were in Chicago I spent more time walking around the bean, and under it, than I did any other sight that I went to in all of Chicago.

Isn’t that amazing?

Here’s a close up view. The large structure that you can see reflected in the background is Millennium Park. I posted a photo of the outdoor theater on my gardening website. You should visit to take a better look at it because it’s an amazing design too.

Cool.

I just loved Chicago. I was only there for three days, but I found that it was very much like Toronto. I felt very much at home there.

Maybe Chris and I will end up going to Chicago again this summer.

BTW when these photo was posted on another site someone wondered if it was photoshopped. Nope. This is the way The Bean looks. It’s just that cool. If you ever go to Chicago you must see Cloud Gate.

This weeks Theme is Colorful

I had a hard time deciding which photo to post today. I’ve been taking a lot of photos of the flowers in my garden and many of the photos are quite lovely.

I decided to post this delicate pink tulip. It was nearing the end of it’s lifespan when I took this photo but it’s floppy petals just looked so attractive that I ended up taking about 20 different photos at various angles.

Do you ever do that when you are photographing something? Take 10 or 20+ photos just to be sure you’ve taken the best photo possible?

This weeks Theme is Five

Since this weeks Photo Hunters theme is five, I thought that since I’ve been taking so many photos of my garden that I’d find one of my Spring blooming flowers.

Did you know that there aren’t that many Spring bulbs or perennials that have five petals? Not of the ones that I grow anyway!

Well I found a lovely photo or two of a five petaled flower. I took these photos of my Hellebores (Christmas Rose) about two weeks ago. They are still blooming! I love how long they last.

5 petals and the bud of a soon to be new flower:

Sorry I was so late getting my Photo Hunter post done!

This weeks Theme is Childhood

cute_animal_pics_4

This weeks theme is Childhood but no one said that it had to be about human childhood. I found this photo and thought it was absolutely adorable. Actually I feel more than a little sorry for the poor fawn. It looks cold and lonely doesn’t it?

My mother actually had a pet deer when she was growing up.

This was back in the days when people truly hunted for food. I think her father or one of her brothers had killed her fawns mother and they brought the baby back to the farm where my mother quickly adopted the baby deer. If I remember right that story doesn’t have a happy ending because when the deer got older an other hunter, perhaps from a neighboring farm mistakenly shot the pet deer.
