New Neighbors?

June 2, 2010 by Tricia

I think we officially have new neighbors.

The house next door to use, the one that was rented out to two very bad renters over the last year was sold about a month and a half ago. We’d heard from one of our other neighbors that talked to the home owners son that the new people would be moving in at the end of May … well the end of May came and went and we didn’t see any sign of the new neighbors, but we just noticed a light on in the house next door so I think they came for a visit.

The realtor lock box is off the front door now too, so I guess it’s official.

We’re just hoping that the new neighbors are nice people. We’ve been through hell with awful neighbors lately. We pretty much lived in fear with our doors and windows locked all the time with the last ones so I think we deserve to have some nice neighbors now.

I don’t care if the new neighbors aren’t really friendly. All I ask is that we don’t have any problems with our shared driveway and that they aren’t noisy or do anything illegal or potentially dangerous while they are living next to us. Yeah, my standards got a lot lower after the last renter neighbors.

We don’t know anything about the new neighbors. In fact they seem to have left the house now so we didn’t even see them. I’ve heard that they are an Asian couple which fits with the guy that I saw a few days before the sold sign went up. I think they got a three hour home inspection done before putting in a bid.

Anyway like I said, I don’t really care who our new neighbors are as long as they’re nice enough and easy enough to get along with. They could be muscle building protein powder drinking health nuts or geeks for all I care, just as long as we don’t have any problems with them.

I just hope that they didn’t buy the house next door only to rent it out again. That’s really our worst fear. Wish us luck!

Called back to the doctors office

June 2, 2010 by Tricia

Ah! I just found out that I might have a cholesterol problem. Like I need any more health problems. Sigh …

I saw my new family doctor a couple of weeks ago and I got a call from the receptionist saying that the doctor wanted to see me again about my Cholesterol. I don’t know if it’s high or low or what … but I might have to start taking more meds … hmmm maybe I should buy lipofuze and give that a try?

My cholesterol has been borderline high a few times in the past but whenever I get follow up blood work done it’s always been back to normal levels. So … hopefully that’s what happens this time around.

Frankly, I can’t afford any more medications. We don’t have a health plan anymore and my current medications for Crohns, pain and a couple of other things cost me close to $400 a month. I don’t want to add yet another expensive drug to that total.

Do you have high cholesterol or like me do you have the occasional blood test that makes your doctor think you might have a problem?

So tired … but dreading sleep

June 2, 2010 by Tricia

I’m dreading trying to go to sleep tonight. I haven’t been sleeping very well over the last few days … a combination of my husband snoring and making weird sounds in his sleep, it being too hot upstairs and uh … bad dreams.

Last night when I finally did fall asleep I had a dream about the pain clinic I used to work in for close to 10 years as a nurse. I loved the job but I hated my boss – the “nurse” manager who was a complete twit, and the owner – a doctor that had very questionable morals and who took human growth hormone regularly. Most of the other doctors and nurses were ok to work with, but not those two .. and unfortunately they ruled the place.

My old boss literally made it a point to pick on a nurse each day or week … she wasn’t happy until she had one of us crying and then of course she’d try to comfort who ever she’d hurt. She wasn’t happy unless she had total control over each of us. Needless to say there was a very high staff turn over there. I’m not sure how I made it through close to 10 years! I was the longest working employee there at the time that I left.

The owner of the company was smitten with her for some strange reason … we all suspected that they were having an affair or that the nurse manager had something on the company owner that she could use to hurt him.

I don’t know why I dreamed about that awful place, but I did. I was assisting in a procedure in my dream and things started going terrible wrong and my ex bad boss started screaming at me and the other nurses. Then I woke up.

Anyway .. hopefully I have a good sleep tonight! No bad dreams, no weird snores from my husband. I’m tired enough that I should sleep well … but who knows!

My poor tired husband

June 1, 2010 by Tricia

My husband just got home from work a little while ago and he’s exhausted! He’s been taking a few extra shifts from his co-workers over the last few weeks so he’s been working more hours.

I also kept him busy in the garden over the weekend. He was outside with me when he came home from work on Friday and then we put in several hours on Saturday and Sunday in the garden as well.

He’s more tired than usual this evening. I think it’s because they put in a new document management at work and he had to learn how to use it – even though he doesn’t produce many documents as a hospital attendant/ orderly.

If my back wasn’t aching so much I’d cook him up a nice meal … but I think we’re just going to relax and put a frozen pizza in the oven. Hey it’s easy and we don’t eat “fast” food too often.

The garden is a lot of work at this time of year!

June 1, 2010 by Tricia

I’ll bet that some of you have been wondering where I disappeared to these last two weeks. Well, I can’t say that I went far! I guess I’ve been in the garden – trimming, tidying and planting, planting, planting!

Oh and recovering from each and every garden outing for a day or two! My back is acting up again and all the bending involved with taking care of a garden is just aggravating things.

It’s so bad today that I can barely get up and walk around. I dreaded taking the dog out a few times today because she tends to pull on the leash … and that makes my back scream!

At least the garden looks fantastic. Almost all of our roses (60 + rose bushes) are in bloom. The lavender is also starting to bloom as is one of our Peony plants and several of our Clematis. Everything looks great.

Our vegetables (well most of them) are planted as well, and with all the hot weather we’ve been having I expect to be eating a lot of salads and using several tomatoes in our meals sometime soon.

Now I have to get to work and do a search for a good price on some Branson tickets for the end of July. Chris’ brother wants to meet us there for a family get together. So we’ll see what I can find.

Ok time to take some Advil and put a heating pad on my back!
