Chris does it again

October 22, 2006 by Tricia

I’m supposed to be at a get-together tonight (Saturday). I don’t want to call it a party, because it isn’t really. It’s more of a Fund raiser.

One of the very nice people that both my husband and I work with at the hospital was diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago and given only 5 months to live. I’m not sure of exactly what kind of cancer she has but it’s obviously a very bad case. The dinner party fundraiser is being held to raise some money to help her kids when she’s gone.

I’m not feeling very well today at all, so unfortunately I decided not to attend the fundraiser.

Chris on the other hand is there right now. He told me that the party was supposed to be semi-formal. Would you care to know what his idea of semi-formal is?

Faded, almost green grey tinged blue jeans – I guess that’s the “semi” part – and running shoesA suit Jacket – dark blue and wrinkled since he never took it out of the travel bag since he last wore it, nor did he get it cleaned.A white dress shirt

    An Irish green tie

The whole outfit wouldn’t look that bad if 1. he didn’t wear that colour tie, and 2. if you disregard the wrinkles in his suit jacket, but all together it’s too much. The green tie clashes with the jeans and slightly with the suit jacket.

I tried to get him to put on a tie of a different colour. No- his other ties are grey and blue and that’s too funeral like. Alright then … I seem to remember him having a nice red one, but he made it clear that he was going with the green tie.

So I tried another approach pointing out the wrinkles in his suit jacket and suggested that he wear his grey suit jacket, or he has a slightly more casual beige one. No, he doesn’t like the gray one and didn’t look for the beige one.

Oh well, knowing him that suit jacket has been off pretty much since he arrived at the dinner party fundraiser. If the other guests at the party were lucky hopefully he removed the tie too! If he didn’t remove the tie he’s probably really clashing right now.

I love the guy, but he leaves me shaking my head an awful lot more than I think I should be shaking it. LOL Men!

Update:

Chris didn’t stay at the dinner / fundraiser too late. He came home at about ten o’clock since he had to work at 7 this morning. I had forgotten to mention that along with the tacky green tie and wrinkled jacket he was also bringing his guitar.

We had received a call from one of the organizers of the party at about 5 pm on Saturday with a special request for Chris to bring his guitar and play at the party. He did of course! He never misses a chance to play in front of an audience. Apparently, about 200 people attended the dinner so he had a good sized audience. I wish I’d been there to see him perform. He’s always entertaining.

Oh Brother!

October 22, 2006 by Tricia

My brother called today. You know what he was calling about? To wish me a Happy Birthday. That was nice of him, but he was more than a little bit late since my birthday was September 6th and he knew it. LOL

The main reason he was calling was to set up a time when he could return a few boxes of family photos that we’d taken from my parents house when my mom died, and my scanner.

I had taken charge of the photos back in 2003 since I’m sort of the family history keeper and my siblings wanted me to scan the pics for them. I found it much too painful to even look at some of them so I kept putting it off. Finally last March or so my brother decided he’d do some of it – mainly because his eldest child was getting married that April and he wanted to have some of our family photo’s placed around the reception area.

I had just purchased a new Scanner last January. See, I was gearing up to getting those photos done. Then my brother came and borrowed it around the middle of March. So he’s actually had my brand new scanner longer than I have! How did that happen?

By sometime next weekend I’ll have my beautiful scanner back – it really is a nice one, and then, if I choose to, I can go through my stacks of photos that have actually been taken on a film camera and share them with you. Oh oh the past might come back to haunt me soon!

Save tons of $ on long distance calls

October 21, 2006 by Tricia

Have you heard about Pingo International and Prepaid calling cards yet? I wish I had when we had our South Korean and Brazilian boarders here. We could have suggested that they use the Pingo calling cards to save money on their long distance calls.

If you make a lot of long distance calls to other Countries International prepaid calling cards might be just what you need. You’ll get $5 USD in free calls just for signing up. Visit the site and see for yourself how many options you have. You can use a Pingo calling card with your mobile phone, and believe it or not the rates for use with a cell phone are very good. You’ll have Pinless dialing with Pinpass which means no more inputting huge numbers into the phone before you can make your call. You can also use Pingo International and prepaid calling cards to call over 35 Countries.

You purchase calling time with your credit card and Pingo provides you with your own unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a toll-free access number. Then you’re ready to start using Pingo and saving on long distance calls. You can also use a service called auto-charge which will automatically refil your calling card when it reaches $5 USD. You’ll also be able to check your call history and billing online.

After having boarders here and having them tell me how much it cost them to call back home I know, that after viewing some of the rates on the Pingo site that the long distance calling rates are very low. For example, if my boarder from South Korea called home using a pingo card the calling card rates would have been as low as 2.4 cents per minute. My Brazilian boarder would have got rates as low as 2 cents per minute!

If you sign up with Pingo you can also earn some money towards your long distance calls. During the month of October you can earn $10 for each friend you refer to pingo. The normal referral rate is $5. Also, if you have a website you can sign up for Pingo’s affiliate program and earn some extra cash when someone signs up for a Pingo International and prepaid calling card.

Pingo calling cards are ideal for anyone that makes long distance calls. Go see for yourself, check the calling card rates to other countries, and view just how many countries you can call with a Pingo International calling card. I’m sure you’ll agree that there are savings to be had by using a Pingo prepaid calling card.

Largest self storage directory in the US

October 21, 2006 by Tricia

I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of friends that seem to move all the time. Some of them are nurses. They go off to the United States, Europe or the Middle East to work for six months or a year and then they come back. What do they do with their home furnishings when they take a job temporarily?

I’ve heard all kinds of moving horror stories, and I have one or two of my own. Wouldn’t it be nice if the whole process of moving were made easier? Well I’ve found a site on the Internet called Self Storage Directory – Moving.bz and I’m pretty sure that it will make the job of moving a lot easier.

You can log on to Moving.bz and search for storage by city, state, or zip code. If you find some companies that you are interested in getting more information and quotes from you’ll be able to receive up to four local quotes. You can also find other services that are related to the whole experience of moving such as packing supplies, Real Estate services, truck rental, hourly moving labour, and moving companies.

The next time one of my friends talks about moving I’m going to give them this sites address.

Loopy Love Online Dating UK

October 21, 2006 by Tricia

I found a site for my readers from the UK who are looking for love!

I actually know several people who’ve found love on the Internet. Two of them even ended up marrying the person they connected with on the net. Lets face it, in this day and age when people are so busy working, trying to stay afloat, taking care of family obligations – it can be hard to make time to find people to date. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using an online dating service. It definitely works for some!

The service is called Loopy Love. Don’t you just adore that name? The sites front page states that it’s the Uk’s first free online singles dating service. Loopy Love members seem to be successful in finding a match because they state that there are two or three marriages every week! I know you might not be looking for marriage, but it’s nice to know that they are helping people match up with success isn’t it?

The site looks like it’s pretty easy to use. You simply register, fill in some information about yourself, tell them who your ideal date is, and how far you are willing to travel to meet your match.
If you live in the UK and your tired of finding Mr or Ms wrong give Loopy Love a try.
