Shame that I should even have to ask …

May 11, 2007 by Tricia

Question for you …

Some of you have been reading this site and many of my others pretty much since day one. I’ve developed friendships with several of you, and have exchanged email and comments with many many more. I’ve worked on some of your websites, developed business relationships with a few of you and have even gotten to know some of the people that advertise on this and my other sites.

Have I ever come across to you – either on this site or any of my others, via email or comments as:

1. Rude?
2. Crazy?
3. Hard to deal with or unprofessional?

The reason why I’m asking this is because I was called all of these things in an email that I received earlier in the week. Obviously I’ve calmed down about this by now, but curious me still wants to know your opinion. Needless to say, since I don’t recall ever being called any of these things before, I found the email very upsetting.

I will not say who said these things to me. All I’d like is your opinion. Some of you know me quite well, and others only know me by what I write on my sites – either way, if you’ve been reading for a short time I think you should be able to come up with an opinion.

How to make a loving husband more romantic?

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

My husband Chris is an extremely loving and kind man. My husband tells me daily, in fact, often several times each day, how much he loves me. I feel very loved, cherished and treasured. However, if there’s anything lacking I suppose it’s a sense of romance. I mean, being told daily how much someone loves you is romantic, but I’d love to be swept off my feet every now and then. Wouldn’t you?

Chris cooks dinner occasionally, he’ll be nice and water the garden when I’m not feeling well. He’ll even rub my legs or back when they are sore. That’s nice and I’m sure many women don’t get that kind of treatment regularly.

Still, I think I need to perhaps print out a few of these romantic ideas for him. Give him a hint. I’d be thrilled if I woke up one morning and found a romantic note on the pillow beside me.

One of the other romantic ideas that I find appealing is “Ask your wife on a romantic date”. I’d love that. We do go out for dinner from time to time, but we often have friends or family around. It’s rarely just the two of us. I think it would be really quite sweet if he planned a romantic evening at one of my favorite restaurants.

We actually live fairly close to Niagara falls – the lovely Canadian side of course. It’s only about a 1.5 hour drive away. We gone there for day trips, but never to stay overnight. Considering that we never even had a honeymoon because he was just finishing his college course when we got married and I’d just started a new job, going to Niagara Falls for a very late honeymoon or perhaps a wedding anniversary would be an ideal romantic get away for us.

I wonder how I can get some of these ideas into his head without spelling it out for him? Perhaps, you my readers, could drop by his blog and leave hints for him? Hmmm?

Whether he ever does something exceedingly romantic or not – it’s ok. I love him and he loves me and that makes life pretty darn good.

Slant board inversion therapy

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

Have you heard of inversion therapy? If so, you’re probably familiar with the version where people actually hang upside down by their feet or legs. While there are benefits to that particular form of inversion therapy it too can be hard on your body. Particularly if you already have a back problem. These positions can often be quite uncomfortable too.

A gentler and much easier form of Inversion therapy is through the use of slant boards. Slant boards have often been recommended by such specialists as chiropractors, colon therapists, doctors and other health professionals.

Slant boards can be used to reduce fatigue, relieve stress and to strengthen and firm muscles.

Inversion therapy is said to relieve fatigue and stress by taking some of the pressure off the bodies organs.

Considering that your body is only slightly inverted – head down, feet up on literally a slanted board, the position is much easier on your body and much more comfortable over all. I can see how this kind of inversion therapy might help relieve the stress on a person with a sore back, or even a pinched nerve in their back. Also, perhaps this is why colon therapists recommend the slant board as well. People with pinched nerves in their back can and often do have problems going to the washroom. Perhaps relieving some of the stress on the nerves of the back also helps the bowels to function better too. Also, if the board helps you strengthen your muscles we all know that strong stomach muscles help a bad back. It makes sense to me.

Certainly if I were going to try inversion therapy I would be more likely to try a slant board over the totally upside down method of inversion therapy. Since it’s a more natural position for our bodies I’d think that I’d be more likely to use it regularly.

What do you think? Has anyone tried using a Slant Board or other forms of Inversion therapy before? What was your experience like?

We should rent a place for Postiecon

May 9, 2007 by Tricia

I never thought about it before, but I just found out that you can rent Disney vacation homes. By this I mean vacation homes that are right beside Disney World in Orlando Florida. If I’d known that I might have looked into it when I was thinking about going to P0stiecon at the end of the month.

We could have gathered a small group of bloggers, maybe 6 or 8 and rented out a nice sized vacation home. Hmmm maybe we can do something like that in Vegas now that P0stiecon has moved? Rent a big vacation home or maybe a very large hotel suite and share it?

I’m still not even sure if I’m going to Vegas this fall, it all depends on this darn Crohn’s disease, but if I’m feeling ok by early summer I might start to make some plans.

If any other posties are interested in perhaps sharing a double room with Chris and I – by double room I mean adjoining rooms or a double suite … whatever you call it, let me know.

What happens when you’re gone?

May 9, 2007 by Tricia

If you’re married do you ever think about what will happen to your spouse and or kids when you pass on? Especially if it happened sooner rather than later?

Chris and I have been kind of dumb. Considering how sick I’ve been, and his scare with a heart problem a few years ago we still haven’t taken out any kind of Death insurance. You know, money that would be paid to the spouse or beneficiary in the event of an accidental or untimely death.

I guess I shouldn’t think negatively, but my grandmother on my fathers side died when she was quite young, younger than i am now and what with some of our family history and my being sick I can’t help but think of things like that occasionally. I guess since I’m thinking about things like this it’s time to take care of it.

Have you prepared for the future?
