Wordless Wednesday

IMG_0294 copy

On Saturday Chris and I attended an outdoor art exhibition, then we went to Dundas and Yonge in Toronto to see part of the Toronto street festival where they had “green” exhibits.

The buildings surrounding Dundas and Yonge at Dundas Square have glass panes. I quite like the way they look so I decided to take some photos to show you.

You can click on the photo and visit my Flickr account to see everything I took photos of on Saturday. Warning – I took about 200 photos!

Blame the border for our desire to go to Brazil!

July 11, 2007 by Tricia

Last year we had a border from Brazil. Our previous borders had been from Vietnam so we didn’t know what to expect when he was moving in. It turned out that he was a very nice, quite guy who absolutely loved his country.

He talked about Brazil all the time, showing us photos, and talking about areas that his family would holiday in and so on.

I’d always thought of visiting Brazil, but actually talking to someone who lives in a country that I was interested in visiting gave me some insight into the country and increased my desire to take a holiday there some time.

I would imagine that it will be a year or more before we visit Brazil, perhaps we’ll even have another border from the country before we go ourselves.

I do know that I’d definitely like to see some of the historic sites, go somewhere to hear traditional Brazilian music, visit the famous Ipanema , and of course while in Rio de Janeiro we’d take a trip down to the Copacabana Beach. I’m sure we’ll have a whole list of things to do and places to see by the time we eventually visit Brazil.

Have you ever been to Brazil? Do you have any suggestions for me?

I really want a Boston Terrier

July 10, 2007 by Tricia

Boston Terrier I don’t talk about my love of pets and animals all that often of this site, but I absolutely adore animals.

Having a dog as a pet has always been a dream of mine. I couldn’t have one as a child because of my and my brothers allergies, but now that I’m an adult I still long to have a pet dog.

I’m not sure that it will ever happen, but if I were to get a dog I think I might choose a Boston Terrier.

Why? Well for one, Chris is scared of big dogs. He probably won’t admit to that if you asked him, but trust me, he is. I know for a fact that he likes Boston Terriers though. A few of our friends have them, and one of the pet stores that we go to in order to get supplies for our turtles has an in house pet Boston Terrier. Chris always plays with these dogs. They are so cute too with their big eyes.

I want a pet dog bad enough that I’ve even gone so far as to look up the Boston Terrier breed in the Dog Guide. The guide has quite a bit of information about Boston terriers including health issues, skills, personality and their need for attention. Apparently these dogs have a strong need for companionship, are extremely intelligent and playful.

Well I definitely knew about the playful part. The Boston Terriers that a few of our friends have love nothing more than playing a game with their ball or chew toys.

My blogger friend Cynthia has a blog about her dogs and she occasionally writes articles about other dog breeds. She has an excellent Boston Terriers Dog Guide Article. I actually found The Dog Guide through her website when I was surfing the web.

If we ever do get a pet dog, a Boston Terrier perhaps, we’ll probably get a rescue. All of our other pets have been rescues.

Do any of you have a Boston Terrier? I’d love to hear about your experiences with them.

DialAFlight has great deals on worldwide destinations

July 9, 2007 by Tricia

It seems that almost everyone but me goes on a vacation at least once a year. Even if it’s just a short get away. I know I’ve been talking about vacations and holidays quite often lately, but that’s because I think it’s time that I had a break of my own.

I know I won’t be going anywhere this summer because of the house guests that will be coming and going over the next two months, but I won’t let that stop me from telling you about some great packages at Dial a Flight. You can keep me in mind while you go on one of these holidays, ok?

Right now DialAFlight has some great holiday packages and flight deals. If you don’t have time for a full holiday, but you’ve been feeling that you need a break you should take look at their Weekend Breaks section. I see that they have some listings that include New York weekend breaks, Madrid, London, Montreal, Orlando, Florida, Rome and many other packages for world wide destinations.

If you live in Europe, particularly in the UK, I think it would be wise to bookmark the DialAFlight website. I’ve actually visited this website in the past and if anything I think they might have expanded the locations for which they book flights or list all inclusive vacations.

When you visit the DialAFlight website you’ll be able to find cheap flights, hire a car, book hotels and purchase travel insurance as well as find all-inclusive trips to worldwide destinations. I see listings for flights to Johannesburg, Safari listings, flights to Canada, the Middle East, the Indian Ocean – everywhere and anywhere.

What I really like about the DialAFlight site is that you can book all of your holiday needs on the site. Whether you just need a hotel, a flight or want a complete package they have it all. I haven’t done a lot of traveling recently, but it appears that the prices that they clearly list beside each destination or holiday package are quite reasonable.

Chris did make it home safe yesterday

July 9, 2007 by Tricia

I was just thinking that I never did update my tornado warning story yesterday.

Chris managed to make it home last night without ending up in the middle of a Tornado, and here in Toronto we never did get the severe thunder storms or hail that they’d warned us about for hours.

It all seemed to blow over.

Yes there were Tornadoes or funnel clouds spotted in Southern Ontario but to the best of my knowledge they didn’t cause any major damage.

What strange weather we’ve had this summer. We’re either in a heat wave or a cool front comes in and drops us below seasonal temps. I think we might have an unusual summer weather wise.
