Add current news video and feeds to your post and make money

June 4, 2007 by Tricia

I just signed up with a site called The News Room. This website allows website owners to publish news content on their sites. Not only does The News Room provide content that you can use to enhance your posts, but it also allows you to earn some money just by using the service.

So how do you make money by using The Newsroom? It’s simple really. Just sign up for the service and then browse through the current news listings until you find news that’s relevant to your site, or find a piece that is something you’d like to post about and add a feed or video to your article.

CPM (cost per thousand) starts at $1 which means that for every thousand views you’ll be paid a dollar – at the very lowest, for the content that you chose to provide on your site. You might also be interested to know that the payout for placing a video feed on your site is $4 per CPM. This payout is excellent compared to many other affiliate type programs, and what’s more, you’ll be adding content to your site that will enhance your articles.

One of the really cool things about The News Room is that if someone visits your site and they like the news story that you’ve posted they can take a copy of it right from your site. That’s called Mashing. You’ll make some money when they Mash a story from your site too.

For example, I decided to post this news video in this post to demonstrate to you how you can use news content in your articles, and to show you how the story can be mashed from my site.

You know that artist that gets large groups of people to pose naked for photographs in public places? Well he did it again. If you watch the video I don’t think you’ll find anything offensive on it – naked body parts have yellow dots on them.

Do you see that Mash symbol? Well, if you want to put this content on your site too, you can just Mash it.

How does mashing work? The diagram that I’ve included below shows how a person can make money when a great news story is shared from site to site:

33_mash.gif

There’s yet another bonus to this program:

I’m not sure how this works, but there’s a loyalty program that allows those who use the site to provide content on their own websites a chance to win prizes such as vacation, electronics and even cars.

When I first signed up I spent some time on the site trying to find out exactly how to get the video on my site. It’s simple really. As I said earlier, just browse through the sites content, find something that you want to add to your site, decide if you want just the video news story, a full feed of the section you’re in, a text story or even make up your own feed of news stories then hit the Mash button and follow the instructions. Easy.

There are hundreds of thousands of news stories to choose from and all are fully licensed new stories from major content providers such as Reuters, Associated Press and so on.

Give it a try. There’s lots of great news content available and you can earn money by adding it to your site. Start by mashing the video that I placed in this post if you like.

Satin sheets and I don’t mix

May 30, 2007 by Tricia

The other day I was talking about our too small bedrooms and our old double bed that we used to use as our bed when we lived in our apartment. For some reason that made me think of the satin bed sheets that I still have for that bed.

I don’t know if you have, or if you’ve used satin bed sheets before, but they can make the act of getting into bed quite interesting, let alone doing anything else in bed!

The first time I ever used the satin sheets on the bed I think I made the mistake of also wearing a satin nightgown. Now I’m a big klutz so it should stand to reason that me, satin sheets and a satin nightgown were not going to mix well.

I think I probably bought them and put them on the bed to set up a romantic evening for Chris and I. I don’t remember all the details and some of them I won’t get into in this post, but I don’t think I have to tell you that my attempt to get into bed, freshly made with the new light pink satin sheets, in my satin night gown were something that could have come from a classic comedy.

I think I slide across the bed and fell off the other side on my first attempt to get into bed. When it came to the next attempt I believe I was a bit more careful and only slide to the middle of the bed. LOL I’m sure I came out of that experience with a few bruises.

After that I never combined two satins again!

I hate peanut butter!

May 29, 2007 by Tricia

Ew!

The other day when we went grocery shopping we purchased a jumbo package of Nature Valley sweet and salty chewy nutbars. There’s two flavors – almond that has an almond butter coating on the bottom, and peanut that has a peanut butter coating on the bottom.

I hate peanuts! I hate peanut butter! I just accidentally selected the peanut one, and not having had it before I opened it up and discovered the peanut butter coating on the bottom. Yuck, ew, bleah!

It was Chris’ idea to buy these things. I think he thought he was getting a healthy snack but as far as I’m concerned they’re too sweet. Also, when I read the nutritional info at the bottom of the bar the amounts of sugar, salt and fat are quite high.

The Sweet and Salty chewy bars sound healthy but I’m not all that convinced that they are. We had something else kicking around the house the week before, I think it was made by the same company and those bars were much better.

I think I’ll find another type of healthy snack and let Chris have these.

Yuck … Peanut butter. Must brush my teeth now …

We lost!

May 29, 2007 by Tricia

I did end up watching most of the hockey game last night. As I said Chris and I ended up cleaning out our freezer last night due to a thawing problem we had earlier in the week so the hockey game was put on pause on the DVR while we did that.

By the time we finished throwing out food from the freezer and making dinner it was definitely time for me to relax. Now, watching hockey when I’m trying to relax isn’t all that relaxing but I did end up getting into the game towards the third period.

It was a close game with the Senators scoring the first goal, then by the third period the game was tied 2 to 2, but in the last few minutes Anaheim scored another goal and won the game 3 to 2.

Oh well, that’s ok. There’s still possibly six games left to play. Ottawa could still win.

You know, if I complain about watching hockey at this time of year Chris turns around and looks at me and says something like “But this could be the last hockey game of the year!” You know, like there’s nothing else to live for. It’s kind of funny.

Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation packages

May 29, 2007 by Tricia

My husband has always enjoyed playing golf, but really hasn’t had the time to get out and play for a couple of years. His birthday is coming up in July and when I saw that the CoastalGolfaway.com site offered myrtle beach golf vacation packages I thought to myself, this might be a great idea for Chris’ birthday gift.

The prices seem quite reasonable. If I’m reading this correctly it looks like we could go to Myrtle Beach, and if we got one of the vacation packages we’d stay for three nights in a fully equipped villa with four beds (each villa has four beds), and we could play on the following courses – Thistle, Tigers Eye, Panthers Run and Players Club. The package listing only went up to May 20th, but it looks like that would cost about $436 per golfer.

That seems like a pretty good price for four rounds of golf and a three night stay in a fully equipped villa. The price apparently includes the green and cart fees plus all taxes. Seems like a pretty sweet deal for anyone that enjoys the game of golf!
