The Daily Dump

May 29, 2006 by Tricia

No, that’s not the name of a new regular feature on this site. Nope. It’s the title of a new site that I spent some time looking at on Sunday.

The site owner, Chris, stumbled across my site after he’d visited one of my landlords – Mscateyes. He took the time to stop and write a nice comment inquiring about renting on my site. His site is new and he’s not been accepted yet on BE so he can’t start getting his site viewed by BE members, and he can’t attempt to get a rental spot yet either. So he was trying to figure out a way to promote his site via rental and decide to write to me about it.

He was in luck! I was in a very helpful mood and I replied back with information about all the other traffic engines that I use to promote my own sites.

Since I’m in a generous mood I decided that I’d let my visitors know about this new site.

The Daily Dump is a site comprised of a number of regular writers. Their styles vary, but seem to mesh together well enough to make quite an interesting read. Considering that there are so many contributors to the site, each with their own style of writing and topics that they favor I’d say the Daily Dump has something for everyone.

Why don’t you pop in and take a peek and see if you like the Daily Dump? Let Chris and the rest of the gang over there know that Tricia sent you.

Evil Thoughts

May 28, 2006 by Tricia

I’m dragging my feet about posting these days. It’s not that I haven’t had anything to write about, it’s just that a few things have happened this week that made me feel a bit down.

Mostly it was my visit to my family dr. that got me down. She promised me that she was going to get me back on some of my crohn’s meds if I continued to get worse and AGAIN she decided against it and wants to experiment with some herbal mixtures. I can officially say that I’m fed up with every single one of my doctors now. I can’t get better and get back to work if I’m not being cared for properly, and I’m starting to go just a bit stir crazy sitting at home.

Anyway, enough of my grumbling. Since I’ve been feeling more than a little bit evil this week it seemed like the perfect time to take the “How evil Are you” quiz:

You Are 38% Evil

A bit of evil lurks in your heart, but you hide it well.
In some ways, you are the most dangerous kind of evil.
How Evil Are You?

It turns out that I’m not as evil as I thought I was, but looking at the questions and having answered yes to most of the top 4 paragraphs I was starting to think the quiz was going to say I was 80% evil or something.

I found the questions very revealing in some ways.

Yes I do have vengeful feelings. I have broken the law in minor ways in the past, I’ve looked at nudie pics on line – can’t help it when you come across them accidentally can you? That I’ve lingered over a few of them wasn’t asked but to be honest, yes I have.

I’ve wished people harm but I’ve never acted on those feelings. I believe in fate and Karma and the people that have hurt me will probably get theirs eventually. I don’t hate kids or harbor secret desires to be mean just for the fun of it. I would never pick on someone with disabilities.

I do however have a lot of trouble tolerating blatantly stupid people or people who act weak but can and should be doing something for themselves to change the situation they’ve got themselves into.

I already know that I would give my life if I had to in order to save many others. In fact, thanks to SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) hitting Toronto in 2003 and working as a nurse in the midst of this terrible infectious disorder, I knew I was potentially risking my own life by continuing to work in the emergency department. However, if I, and others like me, weren’t working to help stop the spread of SARS it would have infected and killed many more people than it actually did.

I’ve never spit in someones drink, but I must admit that I’ve felt like it. I have blamed a fart or two on other people. Who hasn’t?

I have kissed people that I shouldn’t be kissing, particularly when I was just sweet 16. That is a story for another day though.

How about you? Did you take the “how evil are you test”? Did it make you think about things a little bit when you saw the quiz questions?

Are you a vengeful person? Have you taken revenge on someone? Or would you never dream of having an evil thought or doing something that might be considered mean no matter how deserving a person might be? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

This weeks theme is Red, White and Blue:

This is a photo of a Heavenly Blue Delphinium. It’s got more pink/mauve in it than red, but I love this flower and that’s what I’m using this week.

Va Va Voom and a way we go!

May 27, 2006 by Tricia

vavavoomheader

As I said recently on my other site I hate this part of the week. I dislike having to say no to so many people who bid to have a spot on my site each week.

I had an amazing 15 bids to choose from today. Just out of curiosity, why do you guys bid on my site? I know it’s not only because of the price. I charge 50 credits but I do work for them by making references to my new renter frequently. Is it because I have half decent stats in my past rentals history? Or because you get permanent links on my site as a bidder and the chosen renter? Just wonderin’.

I had almost decided to pick the new option to accept the first bidder, but I’m a little afraid of that option. I usually like most of the sites that put bids in, but what if the first bidder turned out to be a site I don’t like or that I would have a hard time thinking up things to promote them and get my readers to visit? With the luck I’ve been having this week that’s probably what would have happened.

After much thoughtful deliberation I’ve decided to go with Va Va Voom as my renter this week. I’ve admired her site since I first came across it. I love her writing style, and it turns out that she’s a wonderful artist. All the graphic images on her site have been created by Ms. Va Va Voom herself.

She’s recently discovered that she has a fascination with Big Butts. You should visit her and find out how she came across this recent discovery about herself. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed when you visit her site. It’s lovely to look at and use and her writing style keeps you entertained and interested in reading more.

Amazing site!

I’d really appreciate it if my visitors would take some time to visit a few of the sites that put bids in this week.:

Thai Curry Stir Fry

May 25, 2006 by Tricia

Thirteen Things about Tonights Dinner

1…. This is such a fantastic dinner I thought I’d give you the recipe.

2…. Start with 1/2 lb boneless skinless chicken breast cut up into small pieces.

3…. Add 1 tbsp Canola oil to a large pan or wok, heat on low until oil is hot and then add the chicken to the pan, stirring occasionally until the meat looks cooked.

4…. Add one can of Thai Green Curry sauce. Most grocery stores seem to carry this these days, just look in the aisle where rice is sold, or where products to make Chinese, Mexican and Indian foods are sold.

5…. The Thai curry sauce is hot, so I often add a half can of Coconut milk to it to tone it down. Works beautifully.

6…. Once the sauce, coconut milk and chicken has simmered on low for 5 minutes I add the rest of the ingredients.

7…. I was lazy this evening. I added two cups of frozen veggies consisting of cauliflower, carrot, broccoli. I also had some pre-chopped frozen peppers and zucchini in the freezer that I added to the mix.

8…. 1 can of sliced water chestnuts

9…. 1 cup snow peas (you know the green pea shells)

10…. Let this mix simmer for another 15 minutes on low heat.

11…. While the above ingredients were cooking I got out another pot and heated water in it. I then added a package of Rice Vermicelli noodles to the water and let the noodles sit in the warm water for 5 minutes to soften up.

12…. When the Thai curry stir fry looks and smells (mmmmm) done (approximately 20 to 25 minutes from the start of cooking) toss in the vermacelli noodles and serve. This curry can also be served over a bed of rice, which is the way we usually have it.

13…. Now I just need someone to feed. It’s almost 8 p.m. and our border hasn’t come home yet. He hasn’t even called to say he would be late. I’m ticked because he does this all the time. I think it’s just rude and disrespectful. Don’t you? My husband won’t be home until after 10 p.m. because he’s working an evening shift. He can, and will, enjoy the meal when he comes home.

Well, maybe my roomie Noi will enjoy this meal with me. She has her own Thursday Thirteen up now too, so go see her!
