This weeks Theme is Growth

Next year, these sunflower seeds will become beautiful tall sunflowers.

Well the seeds that the birds and squirrels don’t get will grow up to be sunflowers. Each year I end up with dozens of sunflowers growing in my boulevard garden. I either pluck them out or move them toward the back (edge closed to the road) so that I can maintain the order of my little boulevard garden.

In the ground they will grow until they become towering plants with thick stalks and multiple blooms – just like this one.

Gorgeous aren’t they?

I still haven’t cut down the stalks from this summers growth yet. I will have to get that done this week because before I know it snow will be here. Through the winter I’ll spend some time looking at these sunny photos. It will help me get through the darkest coldest days.

They really do brighten up a dreary day…it’s rainy and gloomy here this morning so thanks for sharing such a sunny picture!

Yes, soon the snow will be here. That’s why I take lots of garden photos in the summer to sustain me through the winter.

I love sunflowers too. Where we used to live there was a huge field they would overseed w/ sunflowers every year. People would stop and take pictures of their kids in the field of sunflowers. I always meant to but it was one of those things, ‘I’ll get to it next time.’ Now we’ve moved! waaah.

My photos up now, come take a look.

I love the pictures and the story. I have seen the results like this before. I sunflower plant grows somewhere that it was not planted and the later, if you are not quick, the squirrels harvest the seeds. I guess it is only right since they planted it. Great take for the theme.

Great sunflower, I like the red’ish in the inside. I had sunflowers in my garden too, mostly to feed the birds, but it was beautiful and easy maintained.
