Interactive Jerry

June 22, 2006 by Tricia

Finally, it’s rent time again. I’m playing multiple choice again as well because so many of you want a spot on my site.

On to the business of the day:

I chose The write Jerry to stay with me for the week. I’d like to know if there is a “wrong” Jerry?

Jerry says:

In many ways, I’m like a lot of other people: I’m married, have a kid, I’m sometimes serious and I sometimes joke around. In other ways, I’m like nobody else. Read my bl0g to discover how different I can be.

Jerry’s site is fun, fresh and interactive. You could spend a lot of time there reading his latest posts and interacting with them. I particularly like “Twist my Words Thursdays”, but he’s also created Inkblot Wednesays which is always kind of fun as well. His other posts cover a variety of thought provoking topics and ask for his readers thoughts and opinions. Visit this site and engage your mind.

The other bidders, spreading the love:

Modern Princess – A very nice looking site. Love the header. This site is written by a pregnant mother to be and it contains information about raising children, advice, and interesting tales – not just about kids and pregnancy. It’s an interesting read, go visit.

Tiny Voices in my Head – I’m not that familiar with this site but after reading the first page I’m pretty sure that I’ll be going back for regular visits. What I saw was a number of humorous and interesting posts. Check it out for yourself.

Scottorama – interesting read – rants, humor, current topics with a leaning toward gay rights issues.

Dear Me – A variety of topics to be read here. Great photo’s, stories about rock climbing etc.

Just Dawn – Dawn writes about life, day to day happenings in her world and ours too. Posts hold the readers interest. Great site.

Grand-Pa – A humorous site with several jokes, interesting stories, the occasional interesting news story is discussed as well. I enjoy visiting this site as I almost always come away with a laugh.

Full Metal Photographer – I love this site. Kelly takes some great photographs. I make a pointed of visiting this site daily to see the latest beautiful picture. You should too!

My Life in Italy – She’s been living in Italy for 4 years but she’s not enjoying her stay. Visit her site to find out why life in Italy isn’t turning out as she thought it might. Oh and she’s also trying for a Guinness World record for the largest number of donations.

Long Slow Beautiful Dance – Always an interesting read. Laci writes about her day to day life, her job and career in a manner that holds the readers interest. Often humorous and entertaining. Go see.

Finding Fruit Cake – This site is fairly new on the scene. I enjoy Jenna’s writing style. I haven’t looked over the whole site yet but I like what I see. She talks about the goings on in her life – read her latest post about the three types of men she wouldn’t date.

Dark Marcy’s Attache – This is a brand new site. So far the writing is about current sports play-off’s such as the Stanley cup (next time Oilers!), and the latest soccer matches, and some hot topic news stories such as Korea’s missile testing. The writing is good and I’m sure this site will develop well as time goes by.

Recommended- This site discusses interesting computer software and interesting websites, she also recommends which bl0gs are good to rent from too (I think I’m included in that list. wink, wink ). Her latest articles is about a fast image rotation engine that sounds fantastic. Check it out.

The winning bid goes to

April 18, 2006 by Tricia

Parenting Toys

Ok, do you guys love this site or was it just the very low rental price that I set this week? Yeah, I know – it was the low price wasn’t it.

21 of you bid on my site in less than 24 hours!

I have to be honest with you though, I set the low price so that my friend Ed from Parenting Toys could be my roomie this week. Sorry!

Parenting Toys has just gone through a major re-design. I think Ed is still tinkering around with the layout but it’s a very nice looking site. Parenting Toys started out as a way for Ed to let others know about great products that would be wonderful for parents, and the site still is that- but it’s so much more. There are personal stories about a father and his son, experiencing family traditions, beautiful photo’s, and humorous stories, and of course some great write up’s for some interesting gadgets that parents might enjoy. One of my favorite posts is “My wife is seeing another Man”. Ed’s an entertaining writer- please go see for yourself. ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a lot of fun a couple of weeks ago when I was Ed’s tenant and I certainly hope he enjoys his stay here with me this week.

Now I usually give all my bidders a link and a small article but with so many of you to list I’m afraid that I’m going to skip the ratings this week. Sorry! I do keep track of who has bid in the past and I try to give multiple bidders a turn, so if you really do want to stay with me for a week just keep trying and it will be your turn before you know it.

The Pajama Mama

March 16, 2006 by Tricia

I had a very hard time deciding who to rent my space to this week. I found all the bidders to have interesting content and I enjoyed them all. So how did I pick this weeks renter Ms Pajama Mama? With great difficulty!

My first thought was- ok, they are all great contenders, how do I pick? I wonder which blog is the youngest and could use more traffic? I mean- that’s why we are renting space on other sites and offering space to others isn’t it? Well, it turns out that all the sites that wanted to be my room-mate this week are fairly young. I think the oldest blog was 9 months old- started in May 2005, and the youngest just started up in February from all appearances.

I eventually decided on the Pajama Mama< because she is promoting a wonderful cause in her latest post. She has three children - two of which happen to be affected by Down Syndrome . March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day, and this of course is the cause that she is promoting. She discusses some of the ins and outs of caring for children with this special condition, including periods of self doubt as a mother. When I was growing up there was a much older boy with Down Syndrome on our street and he was always such a joy to be around. Very caring, funny, thoughtful. As a nurse I also know that people affected by Down Syndrome also tend to have ongoing- often serious medical problems. The Pajama mama may face some daunting times in the future, but she will also have a large amount of joy in her life by having adopted these two girls. So between her promotion of a good cause, and ongoing posts about her three children, fostering and adoption her site caught caught my eye as the one I would rent to this week. So go give my last renters site a visit and learn more about World Down Syndrome day as a result while you are there. :) As is my tradition, I'll give the other bidders a little love and mini-article: Pupsickle is a site created by a woman living in the cold cold north- Fairbanks, Alaska to be exact! Some of her posts cover events that are specific to her area- such as the world ice art championship and weird weather, moose cookies, and other posts discuss her dancing poodle and her latest post on how her dog actually performs surgery on various objects. Visit her site to see some wonderful photos and read some interesting stories. Vandelay industries - an eclectic site. Articles the latest movies and hot television shows- I'm not really big on tv show articles but I'll read his articles of shows I don't even watch because the writing is so humorous. Right now he's in mourning for Tony from the Soprano's and hoping that it just ain't true! He also writes about general topics- such as why he just bought shampoo for the first time in over 3 years. Check out his list of "20 things that I don't care about". I'm surprised he didn't get more comments for that one since I'm sure there are a number of people that either really care about or love some of the things that he doesn't care about- or who would tend to agree with him. Go visit and see if you agree with his list or not and let him know why. Taste the world - Great writing- some humorous posts that involve her latest PMS experience, adventures at the hair dressers. She's had some interesting experiences too- read about her adventures in learning to fly a plane AND a helicopter. One cool lady I tell ya. Read her Dear John letter to Yahoo Hosting (March 11th), it's hilarious. :) Gee- I'm still in her March posts and I could give praise to most of them. Go visit her site for yourself and see what I mean. Whatchu tawkin bout - A very well written site. Her latest post is about teaching a large group of 8th graders (she's a teacher of course) how to do the Hustle. Complete with the actual music if you choose. I want pictures of those lessons. Her dog has been diagnosed with cancer and she writes about that in some of her posts and about how she's trying to give her beloved pet a quality life. There are a variety of topics to choose from - troubles with her hot tub, getting to travel for teachers conferences, in-law troubles ... Find out what her "burning Itch" is by visiting her site.

Welcoming Rough Draft

March 7, 2006 by Tricia

Well, it was really tough to choose just one renter for the week, but as my bidders know I can only choose one.

This weeks roomie is:

Rough Draft by DC Roe – Written by a talented aspiring writer, who is currently working on his first novel. His latest post discusses his disappointment with the lack of common courtesy displayed by many. I agree with many of the points in his latest posting. Visit his site and see if you agree with his point of view or if you might be one of the people he’s talking about.

The other contestants in the bid to rent my meager space were:

Nonsensical Flounderings – Great site! Mik & Carolyn write about their day to day life in an entertaining manner. Worth a Visit. Nice layout too! Oh, they’ve just moved into their new domain. Go read their latest post- it’s really shitty!

Haunted House Dressing – Jeremy Shipp – Wow, what a site. You could sit there all day reading and visiting all the various links contained in his posts. You probably need to do that to get an idea of how his mind works. ๐Ÿ™‚ And what an interesting mind it is. There’s everything but the kitchen sink- including Finger Puppet Comics (hilarious!). I think I might just go spend the evening over there when I’m done this post.

NewfieGirl – Hey, a fellow Canadian! This seems to be NewfieGirl’s personal page. Great writing. Her latest dilemma is the older ladies that are oogling her husband and plying him with cheesecake. Go find out how she solves her dilemma.
