Bl0gging Chicks

June 23, 2006 by Tricia

I’ve been listed on the Bl0gging Chicks Bl0groll for about a month and a half now and I noticed an increase in my traffic since joining the roll. I think it’s about time that I gave something back and made a post about Bl0gging Chicks.

Michelle is one of the creators/ collaborators on the bl0gging chicks website and from what I can tell the chief adder of new sites to the roll. She even added people during her vacation! She’s come up with a wonderful idea that everyone on the Bl0gger Chicks bl0groll can participate in, in order to promote their site and as a way of promoting a recent post that each participant is proud of creating.

Every Sunday a Carnival of The Bl0gging Chicks will be held. If you are listed on the Bl0gging Chicks roll you can submit the url for one of your recent posts along with a summary of said post, and Michelle will list it in the Carnival of Bl0gging Chicks post each Sunday.

Between the roll itself and now the Sunday Carnival this is a wonderful way for bl0gging women to get some extra traffic to their sites and to promote posts that they want the world to see. Why don’t you join the roll and start promoting your site through this wonderful venue.

Win up to $3000

June 22, 2006 by Tricia

Yes you read that correctly!

I was surfing on bl0gmad today and I came across a site with a similar post as to what I’m currently writing. Unfortunately I can’t remember who’s site it was that I was visiting at the time otherwise I would link to them. If I figure it out I’ll link. Anyway, the posting led me to another site created by John Scott. His site is called Internet Marketing Bl0g and back in March he decided to create a contest that would encourage other sites to link to and write about lesser known bl0gs. His post is called “Clean up on aisle three”.

You can enter his contest by making a comment on the Clean up on aisle three post. If your site qualifies you could win up to $100 just for entering and playing along. The winning site will win $3000! He plans to give away a total of $10,000 between the $100 winners and the $3000 winner. To qualify you need to link to, and write about other bl0gs that are not in technoratis top 100 sites.

Easypeasy for moi! I’ve been writing about and rating just about all the sites that have bid to rent my bl0g for several months now. Not only here, but on Odd Planet as well. Just look at my latest posts on this site and on Odd Planet. Ha! I’m in! ๐Ÿ™‚

John’s contest officially began March 1st and he plans on announcing a winner and awarding the prizes 6 months after the start of the contest. So I think that would be about August 1st.

Since March 1st I have done mini-articles or added links in my posts to 163 sites. That’s only Tricia’s Musings total. On Odd Planet I’ve rated or linked 55 sites, plus another 17 in the one contest I ran over there. For a grand total of 235 site articles and links NOT counting all of the “Mr. Linky” Links on the Memes.

Have you been rating sites that you like, ones that bid on your site, or talking about sites that have interesting posts on your own bl0g? If you have you might qualify for this contest too.

Update – I removed the links in this post because I was unable to find a post about the winners of the contest so I’m not certain that this was a true contest. Might have just been a link baiting scam.

The Daily Dump

May 29, 2006 by Tricia

No, that’s not the name of a new regular feature on this site. Nope. It’s the title of a new site that I spent some time looking at on Sunday.

The site owner, Chris, stumbled across my site after he’d visited one of my landlords – Mscateyes. He took the time to stop and write a nice comment inquiring about renting on my site. His site is new and he’s not been accepted yet on BE so he can’t start getting his site viewed by BE members, and he can’t attempt to get a rental spot yet either. So he was trying to figure out a way to promote his site via rental and decide to write to me about it.

He was in luck! I was in a very helpful mood and I replied back with information about all the other traffic engines that I use to promote my own sites.

Since I’m in a generous mood I decided that I’d let my visitors know about this new site.

The Daily Dump is a site comprised of a number of regular writers. Their styles vary, but seem to mesh together well enough to make quite an interesting read. Considering that there are so many contributors to the site, each with their own style of writing and topics that they favor I’d say the Daily Dump has something for everyone.

Why don’t you pop in and take a peek and see if you like the Daily Dump? Let Chris and the rest of the gang over there know that Tricia sent you.

Free Ipod

February 5, 2006 by Tricia

NOTE – I am no longer participating in this offer.

I keep hearing about people getting free Ipods. Considering the price of an Ipod these days I thought I’d try out one of the offers.

All you have to do is sign up for an account and then complete a trial offer, and then of course get 5 people to do the same. I decided to complete the Columbia House 5 free DVD offer. It’s not exactly free – .49 cent DVD + .99 cents shipping = 1.48 per DVD but that’s not too bad. Of all the offers that’s the one I figured I would get the most use out of.

Now I need 5 referrals. ๐Ÿ™‚ The links above contain my referal ID. If you are interested in this free Ipod offer please click one of the links in this post and help me get a free Ipod.

If you are kind enough to do this for me, why don’t you come back and post a comment for this post and list your free Ipod referral link in your comment? Maybe by posting comments you can get the referrals that you need too? ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks! Tricia

The Magic Bullet

January 28, 2006 by Tricia

Hey, have you seen the infomercial for the Magic Bullet? If you haven’t seen it- you should. It’s the cheesiest commercial I’ve ever seen. They are actually doing ratings on the infomercial (and the product) at Amazon.com. If you’ve seen the infomercial- you have to read the articles. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ok, so why am I talking about the magic bullet blender anyway? Well … I saw the infomercial and well … it got me! I HAD to have a magic bullet! I never order things while watching TV. This was totally out of character for me. Really! But the product sounded so good.

It’s a small blender system that comes with two cup like containers, and 4 mugs that screw on to the top of the blender/motor. It also comes with a large container that truly makes it more like a regular blender and it also comes with a juicer attachment. You add your ingredients to one of the cup or blender attachments, screw on the correct chopping blade (flat or cross) and then pop the whole container onto the blender motor. A few pulses, and approximately 10 seconds later you have a smoothie, a pasta sauce, or even an omelet ready to be cooked. You can even put the containers in the microwave (with the correct lids- vented) and cook your food item right in the same cup that you blended it in.

Doesn’t that sound amazing? Can’t you see why I just had to purchase it? not only that- for a limited time- if you purchased one, you got a second one for free (plus cost of shipping of course). LOL

Yep, I fell for it. I ordered the product at about 1:30 am Tuesday morning (when else are infomercials on) and low and behold early Friday morning- while I was still in bed- I heard a loud knock at the door. We rushed downstairs – after seeing the CanPar delivery truck parked outside and signed for our new Magic Bullet! My husband had to actually run across the street- while still in his housecoat – to get the delivery mans attention. Whew- I almost missed the delivery!

While still in my PJs I carefully unpacked one of the boxes and read all the instructions and the recipes. I was so excited- my new blender! Wow! Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling very well yesterday so I didn’t actually try out the Magic Bullet until the evening.

I decided to have a breakfast dinner last night. Scrambled eggs and toast. Normally when I make scrambled eggs or an omelet I usually don’t feel like chopping up onion or peppers or other ingredients. Sometimes I just grate some cheese, add some garlic powder, salt, pepper and spice and that’s it.

Well, last night I just KNEW it was going to be easy to add whatever ingredients that I wanted. So I cleaned a small green onion, and cut out 1/4 of a green pepper. The instructions say that you don’t have to chop up your ingredients, but I cut them enough that they would fit into the large cup attachment. Then I added 6 eggs, a splash of milk, some ground pepper, pinch of salt, sprinkle of dried parsley, and a 1/2 tsp of Italian seasoning, screwed on the cross blade lid and popped the container onto the motor. Pulse, Pulse, Pulse and Voila! I had a slightly green tinged egg mixture! The onion and green pepper were finely chopped- not mush.

1 minute preparation, 10 seconds of blending, 5 minutes of cooking and we had a lovely meal of scrambled eggs and toast for two. It was delicious! Much better than the eggs I make without freshly chopped veggies in them. I was quite pleased and I didn’t have any problems with the Magic Bullet at all.

Tonight I’m going to make us some fruit smoothies, tomorrow- iced cappuccino, Monday ….

Hmmmm I wonder what Infomercials are on television tonight?

’til next time,

Tricia
