Are you ready for Halloween?

October 3, 2007 by Tricia

It’s that time of year again. Time to dress up like your favorite Ghoul, Goblin or fantasy character!

That’s right. Halloween is coming and if you haven’t picked out your costume yet there’s still time to find a great one.

I’ve spent some time looking at the huge selection of Halloween Costumes available at halloweenexpress.com and I’m impressed.

Wait did I say Halloween costumes?

grimreaper.jpg Yes they have plenty of those, but they also carry costumes for all the big holidays. If you want a Mardi Gras costume, or one for the Fourth of July, Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Presidents day or even Easter you should take a look at the selection at Halloweenexpress.com.

I’m sure the holiday that’s on your mind right now is Halloween as it’s only 28 days away.

Halloween Express carries costumes for adults and children. They also have a wide selection of costume accessories such as makeup, wigs, hair, masks, decorations and props and they even have group and theme based costumes. You can get everything you need for a perfect Halloween celebration.

Adults can find costumes for horror movie characters, for men, women, career costumes such as nurse, military, police and more. If you want to dress up in a sexy costume you’ll certainly be able to find something to suit your style.

harrypotter.jpg The costumes for children are fun too. Kids can dress up like their favorite movie characters from High School Musical, Harry Potter, Hannah Montana, Barbie or even as their favorite animal. You’ll also find costumes for infants.

If you’re having a Halloween party you might want to take a look at Halloweenexpress.com’s selection of decorations. You can get everything from DVDs and CDs filled with creepy music perfect for Halloween night, to hanging props, party supplies, Skeletons and Ghouls, to wall hangings.

missing.jpg If you have a good imagination you could start building your own costume in the Funny Hat section and see what you come up with on your own.

Halloweenexpress.com is a US based company, but they can ship virtually anywhere in the world. They offer several shipping options so if you do decide to purchase a costume or other Halloween goodies from them you should be able to have your items shipped to you in time for Halloween.

Visit Halloweenexpress.com today and start planning for Halloween.

WebCollage – cool site

September 28, 2007 by Tricia

Hey, I was just looking at my site stats and I saw that a strange bot had been spidering my sites. It’s called WebCollage and it’s located at jwz.org/webcollage/ . There was a link to it so I clicked, fully expecting to be taken to a 404 page, but much to my surprise it’s a real website.

I guess the site has spiders that regularly monitor the internet for images and it creates collages with all the images that it finds. Visit the page to see what the collage looks like right now. Wait a few minutes and it will refresh on it’s own and you’ll see yet another interesting collage.

Cool site.

Note- I’ve been told that some of the photos in the collages might be distasteful or even offensive so be aware! I didn’t see any of that when I visited in the night, but it pulls images from all over and obviously doesn’t screen them first. I was linking to the site, but if it links to sites in “bad neighborhoods” I don’t want my site associated.

Thumbplay your site for online mobile entertainment and great contests

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

I think just about everyone has a cellphone these days. Even if you’re like my husband and I and don’t use it all that much they’re handy to have on hand.

The latest cellphones on the market have all kinds of fun features such as the ability to view and record video, play music, upload ringtones, play games and many other functions.

If you’d like to individualize your cellphone by adding wallpapers, games, or uploading new ringtones you might be interested in visiting Thumbplay.com.

Thumbplay isn’t just a ringtone site. It’s a community. Site members can exchange photos, videos, leave comments for one another, sign up for cool text based services and even compete in cool thumbplay competitions such as their current “Funniest Video”, “Show us your Tattoo” and “Friends” contests.

There are some great prizes for the contests I’ve mentioned above such as 42″ Plasma TV, a Sony Cyber-shot Digital Camera, and a brand new Sony Handycam Camcorder.

Why don’t you visit Thumbplay.com and see what they have to offer. Enter some of those contests while you’re there too. The contests not only sound fun, but they offer some fantastic prizes!

Did you hear about Led Zeppelin’s comeback concert?

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

If you can’t tell from my last post I’ll just spit it out – I love music. Music of all kinds, but my favorite is Rock n’ Roll. Especially classic rock.

I’m sure that everyone has a band or two – from any kind of music genre – that is not only an all time favorite, but who’s music can bring back memories of earlier times. There are some songs that make me feel like a teenager again when I hear them playing.

Led Zeppelin is one of those bands. I just love their music. I think I’ve got every record they ever produced. Chris is a huge Zeppelin fan too.

So you can imagine how stoked we were when we heard that Led Zeppelin is getting back together for a concert at the 02 in London on November 26th. To the best of my knowledge that’s their only planned concert. If Zeppelin fans are lucky perhaps they’ll plan a tour for 2008. Now wouldn’t that be fantastic!

led_zeppelin.jpg

The concert is a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun – the founder of Atlantic records who died last year. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham’s son Jason will get together at the O2 Dome to play at this tribute concert. Apparently other rock legends such as Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini will also perform. All of these artists were associated with Ertegun at one time or another over the years.

Unfortunately there’s absolutely no way that we could travel to London to see the concert. It’s just not possible for us. My only hope of seeing their comeback concert is if it’s either shown live on TV or if it’s at least filmed.

I know that many of my readers live in Europe. Perhaps some of you are planning on getting Concert Tickets and attending the show? If you do, I hope you take photos and make some posts about the concert because I’ll want to hear all about it.

If you live in the the EU and really want to attend the concert you might want to visit Viagogo and sign up to be notified if and when Tickets for this concert become available.

Actually Viagogo seems like a very interesting website. It’s supposedly the leading ticket hub in Europe.

It’s basically an online ticket exchange where people can buy and sell tickets to live events such as the Led Zeppelin comeback concert, Arts and Theatre tickets, and even Sports Tickets for football, rugby, horse racing and other sporting events.

I don’t even know if we have a site such as this in North America, but I’d love it if we did. I mean, say you really have your heart set on attending a concert. You could visit the site and see if anyone has listed extra tickets for the event. Of course it works well for ticket holders that bought tickets for an event, but then find that they can’t attend for some reason and need to sell their tickets quickly.

That certainly sounds a lot better than standing outside of an event location hoping to either buy or sell your tickets to those passing by doesn’t it? Much more secure. In fact here’s Viagogo’s guarantee:

At viagogo, every transaction is guaranteed. To support this, we offer full ticket tracking, managed logistics and live customer service support.

* Buyers: Once you purchase a ticket or win an auction and receive a confirmation email from us, viagogo makes sure that you receive your ticket on time for the event. If a problem arises and you do not receive your ticket, viagogo will provide similar or better tickets at the same cost.

* Sellers: We collect the money once the purchase occurs so we can make sure that you get paid.

I don’t know about you, but with that guarantee I’d be happy to buy or sell tickets through Viagogo.

Keep Viagogo in mind the next time you hear of a concert, theatre or sporting event that you’d like to attend.

Oh and if anyone attends the Led Zeppelin comeback concert I’d really love to hear all about it. Remember me!

Get in on the BlogRush

September 25, 2007 by Tricia

Well I finally bit the bullet and signed up for Blogrush. I believe BlogRush only opened it’s doors last week but already thousands upon thousands of bloggers have signed up for a free account.

So what is Blogrush anyway?

Well, simply put, it’s another way to promote your blog. You sign up, add your blogs feed to Blogrush and then put the widget on your site. The widget will show blogs that are in the same category as the one you listed your blog under. In this way, your blog will be promoted on sites similar to your own. If your visitors like your site they’ll probably be interested in visiting some of the blogs that show up in your widget so you’ll be helping out other bloggers too.

It’s a win win situation!

Here’s how Blogrush explains things:

What Is BlogRush And Why Should I Use It?

BlogRush is a “Cooperative Syndication Network.” It’s a network of blogs that run a small “widget” on their pages. Each time this widget is loaded it will contain 5 clickable headlines which are the blog post titles to other users’ posts. Clicking on any of these links will open a new browser window and load the blog and full post. Users earn “syndication credits” based on each time their blog loads the widget as well as each time any of their referrals (users that signup after clicking the “add your blog posts” link on the widget) loads the widget. They also earn additional credit based on all the activity through 10 generations of referrals. 1 Syndication Credit = having one of their recent blog post titles served inside the widget on another member’s blog.

How Do I Earn Syndication Credits?

Syndication credits are earned based on the following formula: You earn credits on your own traffic using a 1:1 ratio. (One credit for each time the widget is served.) You then earn credits based on your referrals traffic (and their referrals traffic) through 10 generations of referrals based on the following ratios: 1st and 2nd generation (i.e. your direct referrals and their direct referrals) 1:1, 3rd – 6th generation = 1:4 ratio, 7th – 10th generation = 1:8 ratio. After all the math is calculated, there is a surplus of 1 headline space (5 spaces in each widget load) for every 10 that are served. So 10% of all the headline space is reserved for BlogRush itself to sell or use.

So if those of you who haven’t signed up yet would sign up under me using my referral code I’d appreciate it as I need some referrals in order to have my blog posts show up in my widget. Once you sign up invite some friends and make a blog post to get others to sign up under you.

My widget is in the lower left sidebar, but I thought I’d also try putting it in this post so that you an clearly see what it looks like:
