Finally reviewed!

September 26, 2006 by Tricia

A very long time ago, ok maybe last May, I submitted my site to be rated over at Bloggy Award. Now, several months after I changed this blogs domain to feverishthoughts.com my site has been rated.

My site was apparently rated last Thursday, if you’d like to read the article and tell me what you think you can find it here.

I thought it was pretty good as ratings go. He must have gone to the original site of this blog (http://triciaswaterdragon.com/blog ) and didn’t pick up on the fact that it had changed domains when “it took him to a new domain when he clicked on a link”.

I can’t find any kind of link on the Bloggy Award site to e-mail him and let him know that the link should be updated to my new domain, and that my sidebars roll up now, so they hopefully look a little less cluttered. I just did that last week, don’t you think it looks a bit better?

If you read the article of my site come back and let me know what you think of it.

I’m being stalked! No, no it’s not my old lady neighbor Sofie this time. Well, yes she still continues to stalk me by knocking on my door or calling me each day if she doesn’t see me at least 5 times a day. No this time it’s another blogger!

Shelli from Shelli’s Sentiments has fixated on me this week. I don’t know if I should be honoured or scared? I think I’ll go with honoured and pleased since she’s saying such nice things about me over there. You should check out her site if you haven’t been there recently. She’s really sweet and I love her site. She’s also the winner of the Compassionate Award from the Blog Emmy’s. She deserved the win!

Another person you should go visit is Doctor Mom. See that square thumbnail of her site in the left upper corner of the page? yep, she’s my renter this week. She’s renovating her cul de sac – thanks to someone called Mr. Fab who wants a bigger lot on the street, and she need a place to stay. The idiot of the week has been chosen. Go on over and see who it is, I’m sure you’ll get a laugh when you do, the photos are Hilarious!

It also turns out that she likes baseball – the Minnesota Twins I think. Speaking of baseball, my hubby and his dad when to the Blue Jays game last night. They beat Boston!

So go on over and vist Doctor Mom at You’ve got 2 B Kidding would you? Let her know that her favorite landlord sent you. I just know you are going to love her site.

Pain Pain go AWAY!

August 22, 2006 by Tricia

I feel like crap.

Fever, Chills, abdominal pain, bad, bad abdominal pain.

I’ve been feeling really off since the two Weddings a week and a half ago. I guess four long days of activities were just too much for me. However, on Tuesday I felt the worst that I’ve felt in a several months and I still feel that bad.

Have you ever had a pain so bad that you just wish that you could cut off the part that’s hurting? Say your leg, your knee, your wrist? Well, I’ve got a pain in my stomach right now that feels like a hand reaching just below my right ribs, as if it’s trying to rip and organ out. The pain in my lower right side feels like someones kicking me and stabbing me at the same time.

When the pain gets this bad I sometimes wish I could cut out the painful parts. Yeah, that would help for oh, about a minute, until I either bled to death or until the pain from the wounds set in. So, no, I wouldn’t do that, but I sometimes wish it were that easy to make it go away.

I have pain medication, and I’ve been taking it, but when the pain gets this bad it just doesn’t help. It doesn’t even knock me out so that I can try to sleep through it.

What really sucks about this is that I’m supposed to be going out of town on Friday for the weekend. We’re supposed to go to Chicago to see Bruce Cockburn play in a small venue on Saturday night. We’ve got some friends going with us so I guess if I end up not going Chris will be ok with the drive, but I wanna go. I’ve never been to Chicago. I know I won’t be there for long, but I want to see whatever I can see while I’m there.

I’ve also been meaning to write a number of posts for all of my blogs so that things will keep moving along here while I’m away (see positive thoughts – I’m writing as If I’m going right?). Unfortunately, I just haven’t felt up to writing.

I do have a nice series of photos on Breath of Life right now that I’ve set up to automatically post each day for the next two weeks. This weeks series is photos of Toronto’s Kensington Market. It’s a very interesting place to visit, and I managed to get some great shots while I was there the Saturday before last. I’d love it if you would check out the daily photos and let me know what you think of them.

I’ve also been busy over the last few days working on a new theme for Odd Planet and creating a new home for it too. Krome, formerly of Kromes Obsession, and now from Sugar Vamp and I’ll Dream, had offered to create a new WordPress site for me some time ago. I had been thinking of taking her up on her offer in order to create a collaborative site that I’d been discussing with a few interested parties, but over the weekend when I got it in my head to move Odd Planet, I decided to contact Krome and ask her to do a theme for Odd Planet. She said she would, but she wanted me to hunt for photos or pictures that I would want to use in the theme myself so that I’d be happy with the results.

Well, I went hunting for pictures to use in the theme and the next thing I knew I was designing Odd Planets new home myself. Now I’m in the process of moving all the posts from the original site to the new site. I hope to have it done before the weekend, as I’d like to be able to set up some posts to automatically post while I’m playing in Chicago. Playing – yeah right, that’s hard to believe with the way I’m feeling now. Anyway, if you’d like to check out what I’ve been up to visit Odd Planets new home and let me know what you think. The sidebar isn’t sitting right if you look at it in Internet Explorer, but it’s working for all the rest of the browsers.

I’m off to take another pain pill in the hopes that this one works. Wish me luck!

Sqeaky Clean Golden Girl

June 26, 2006 by Tricia

Well now I finally understand why I hate citrus flavored drinks. Bleh!

Last week I managed to get an early appointment with the specialist I’ve been waiting to see about my tummy troubles. The appointment went very well! I was quite pleased with how seriously they were taking my situation. I left there with appointments to be made for a special abdominal Cat-Scan, and for an MRI.

Oh yes, I also had to have a ton of blood work done while I was at the hospital. Nice 4 inch bruise on my arm now. It’s black! Plus, as a special treat, I had to have my eyeballs xrayed. Yes you read that correctly. My eyeballs.

Why you ask? Well, I used to be a jeweller. No, not the kind that stands behind the spotless glass counter and sells you expensive jewels. Nope, I was the one who actually made those precious designs. I used to be a diamond cutter (among other things that I did when I was a jeweller). No, I didn’t cut diamonds – I used a diamond on a “Diamond Cutting Machine” to cut designs into gold rings, bracelets, bangles, well – just about anything that is considered jewelery. Whichever diamond I was using spun around at 35,000 rotations per minute. Gold flew everywhere.

Flecks of gold in my hair, on my clothes … embedded in my clothing to tell the truth, on my face and about once every three or four weeks a splinter of gold would find it’s way past my safety goggles and stick into my eyeball. Ow! I can still feel how much that hurt. I’d leave my office and stumble down the buildings stairs to the optometrist that happened to work a few floors down. The receptionist would just say “Again?” and put me in a room to have the good doctor remove the gold from my eye.

Now I really doubt that I still have any gold embedded in my eyeballs, but since I’m going to have an MRI at some undetermined date in the future I had to have my eyes xrayed to make sure. My eyes could explode or something during the test if I do have any metal in them. Interesting yes – but probably not fun.

Wow, when I go off on a tangent, I really go off on a tangent don’t I?

To get us back on track. I hate citrus flavored drinks and I know why. Yep! It has to do with the only scheduled appointment that I left the doctors office with that day. Uh huh. Yep. That’s right- that nasty test. A colonoscopy and gastroscopy.

Ok, those tests really aren’t that nasty. The last few that I’ve had done (last time was January!) I was actually put to sleep. Man that was nice. I’ve done a gastroscopy (tube down throat into stomach) without any sedation in the past thought and that was not pleasant. I highly recommend sedation.

It’s preparing for the test the day before that’s so bad. My appointment was scheduled for September. Now, when you are in a lot of pain and haven’t been able to work for almost eight months, waiting two plus more months for a test that might finally help the doctors get to the bottom of things (pun intended) is a long time. On top of that, the test was scheduled for the day after my birthday!

That would mean I’d have to prepare for the test on my birthday! Ah, no way! My birthday isn’t a big deal, but to have to go through that on my special day, uh huh. I accepted the appointment but asked if they could put me on a cancellation list.

Just my luck, they called me on Thursday and told me that they had a cancellation for Monday at 7 a.m. Boy am I lucky!

Have you figured out why I hate citrus drinks yet? For those that are not in “the know” I’ll tell you why. It’s because the drinks that they make you take the day before your test are citrus flavored. Yeah, the drinks that clean you out. I’m not even going to get into that … let’s just say I’m squeaky clean inside and out right now with 5 hours to go before my test.

It’s bad enough what the drinks do to you. For me it’s particularly bad because I already have abdominal pain. The cramping from the drinks almost made me pass out a few times. But why on earth can’t the drinks come in different flavors? Maybe a chocolate or berry flavored one wouldn’t be so bad?

The clean out stuff that I had to drink on Sunday was very very lemony. So lemony that it seemed like I was sucking on a lemon. I shivered every time I swallowed a sip. Yuck and double yuck.

Wish me luck!
