Marry close to home or on an Island?

October 30, 2006 by Tricia

One of my friends is going to get married next year and she’s trying to decide if she should start planning to have her wedding here, or if she wants to have a small wedding on a tropical island.

I’ve been trying to talk her into getting married away from home for several reason, one being that I’d be invited and I need a holiday in a warm spot. LOL

Don’t worry my other reasons are mainly for her and her husband to be’s peace of mind. I think it would be more romantic to get married on an Island – perhaps in Hawaii? She could have a Maui Wedding completely arranged for her there if she decides not to have the service here. I know that there are lots of packages that she could choose from such as anything from a scuba wedding to a Sunset wedding ceremony.

She wouldn’t have the stress of trying to plan it all down to the last detail because the company that provides these wedding packages do it all for you from obtaining the wedding license to the photographer.

If I were getting married again or renewing my vows I’d certainly think about doing something list this.

What do you think? Should she stay home and have a big wedding or should she go to a tropical island and have a more intimate ceremony?

Save tons of $ on long distance calls

October 21, 2006 by Tricia

Have you heard about Pingo International and Prepaid calling cards yet? I wish I had when we had our South Korean and Brazilian boarders here. We could have suggested that they use the Pingo calling cards to save money on their long distance calls.

If you make a lot of long distance calls to other Countries International prepaid calling cards might be just what you need. You’ll get $5 USD in free calls just for signing up. Visit the site and see for yourself how many options you have. You can use a Pingo calling card with your mobile phone, and believe it or not the rates for use with a cell phone are very good. You’ll have Pinless dialing with Pinpass which means no more inputting huge numbers into the phone before you can make your call. You can also use Pingo International and prepaid calling cards to call over 35 Countries.

You purchase calling time with your credit card and Pingo provides you with your own unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a toll-free access number. Then you’re ready to start using Pingo and saving on long distance calls. You can also use a service called auto-charge which will automatically refil your calling card when it reaches $5 USD. You’ll also be able to check your call history and billing online.

After having boarders here and having them tell me how much it cost them to call back home I know, that after viewing some of the rates on the Pingo site that the long distance calling rates are very low. For example, if my boarder from South Korea called home using a pingo card the calling card rates would have been as low as 2.4 cents per minute. My Brazilian boarder would have got rates as low as 2 cents per minute!

If you sign up with Pingo you can also earn some money towards your long distance calls. During the month of October you can earn $10 for each friend you refer to pingo. The normal referral rate is $5. Also, if you have a website you can sign up for Pingo’s affiliate program and earn some extra cash when someone signs up for a Pingo International and prepaid calling card.

Pingo calling cards are ideal for anyone that makes long distance calls. Go see for yourself, check the calling card rates to other countries, and view just how many countries you can call with a Pingo International calling card. I’m sure you’ll agree that there are savings to be had by using a Pingo prepaid calling card.

Comparision shopping for healthcare

October 17, 2006 by Tricia

Living in Canada, I don’t really have to worry about health care coverage like many of my American friends do. We have Provincial and National health care programs here cover all legal citizens.

Having said that I came across a website that makes comparing, researching and buying health care insurance a lot easier and cheaper. I thought my American readers might be interested in visiting this site. The company is called Vimo and they make it easy to comparison-shop for insurance, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), medical procedures, doctors and dentists.

The site is set up in a very easy to use manner. You can do all of your searches by typing in your zip code. I’ll leave it up to you to visit the site and see if it really offers money saving opportunities in health care insurance, but I have a feeling you’ll be pleased by what you see.

OsCommerce Cafe Membership

October 16, 2006 by Tricia

I found a site that might be of interest to website designers. The osCommerce cafe where individuals or website designers can sign up for memberships of three months, six months or one year.

What’s this all about and why would you want a membership?

Well, if you visit the osCommerce website you’ll discover that for the low cost of a membership you’ll be able to download as many osCommerce templates as you like. You can use these templates to design your own website, or with some modification to the design website designers can offer these templates to their clients when designing sites for their customers. The osCommerce site was created in March 2006 by the author of “The Programmers’ Guide to osCommerce” – Myles O’Reilly.

The templates offered are kept as up to date as possible, and there is a fairly large selection from which to choose. The various template designs are laid out within easy to use category descriptions. If you are looking for a template to use on an Art or photography site simply select that category and you’ll discover several templates that might be suitable for that type of site. Other categories include Food and Drink, Games, Jewelry, Seasonal, software, and computers, as well as many more categories of design.

The osCommerce Cafe also offers a generous affiliate program that is free to all. By simply placing a referral link to The osCommerce cafe on your site you could earn 25% commission if someone signs up for a membership.

You’ll also find a tutorial section on the osCommerce Cafe website where you can delve into the knowledge base, or view several articles such as how to customize the templates or import to a database. Their FAQ section is also quite extensive covering 20 frequently asked questions with descriptive answers.

A three month membership with osCommerce costs $89, and as I stated above during your period of membership you can download an unlimited number of templates. Compare this to the cost of purchasing a single design from other companies at a price of perhaps $150 and you’ll realize that this company is offering you quite a bargain.

VoIP forum

October 12, 2006 by Tricia

My husband and I have been thinking about changing over to VoIP, and we’ve been trying to learn more about it.

What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. Some services using VoIP may only allow you to call other people using the same service, but others may allow you to call anyone who has a telephone number – including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers. Also, while some services only work over your computer or a special VoIP phone, other services allow you to use a traditional phone through an adapter.

We’ve recently discovered the forums over at Vonage. Reading the forums has been very helpful. You can learn more about Voip products and read articles there, and you can also read the latest news about VoIP technology. The forums are owned by Vonage, who established the VoIp information site over 4 years ago, and naturally Vonage also offers VoIP to it’s customers.

Visit the Vonage forums to learn more, maybe we’ll see you there.
