May 23, 2007 by Tricia

I know that many of the people who read my blog are creative and talented people.Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to publish and sell some of your creative content? Well, you can at Lulu.com. Lulu.com is an online self publishing website.

You can create an account at Lulu and start to easily create content such as books, CD’s, DVD’s, calendars, blog books, photo books and much more, that you can publish and sell with absolutely no upfront fees.

So get creative! Make that documentary that you’ve always wanted to make, or create your first CD of your bands music. Write a book, or an e-book. Whatever you want to do, you can do at Lulu.

Publish your digital content and when someone places an order Lulu handles the business end of the sale by publishing the content, delivering the item and the customer service needs of the client.

You create the content and come up with a fee for your product. You own the copyright and control the content. Lulu.com is just the company that helps you get your creative digital content to those who are interested in purchasing it. You’ll get 80% of whatever retail price you decide your content is worth. Lulu will send out checks at the end of each quarter with your share of the revenue.

If I sound excited about this product it’s because I really am. I’ve had so many people tell me over the last few months that I should be publishing some of my work and articles as an e-book. I’ve also had people telling me that I should do something with my photographs. Now I can do that simply and easily with Lulu! I am sooooo signing up!

I know from visiting many of your sites and having email and IM conversations with many of you that there really are a lot of talented people out there. Please, do take a look at Lulu.com and see if you don’t come to think of this as an opportunity to show the world your creative talents too.

Silly email from my other websites

May 22, 2007 by Tricia

I have to laugh at some of the email questions I get for my websites. You may or may not know that I run two websites related to reptile care. Yes, I’m a lizard freak! Not only do I run two big websites, but I also run four mailing lists related to reptiles and their care that are associated with the websites.

I try to get people to join the mailing lists for several reason. 1. So that they can get other opinions other than my own, and 2. So that I don’t have to answer literally 1000 emails each day! Still, I get several emails each day regarding the care of various reptiles, or people write in from Florida telling me that they have wild iguanas eating their plants, or that they found a frog or small lizard in a plant they bought at a nursery.

One of the dumbest questions I received this week was from someone in Australia who wants to buy an Australian Water Dragon (lizard). They wanted to know where to buy one and if they can legally own one. Well, I know Australia has some pretty tough laws about their natural fauna, and they don’t import many exotic animals to be sold as pets either. However, I do not know all of the laws of a country on the other side of the world! LOL Pick up the phone and call your wild life service or whatever it’s called in Australia. Now, as dumb questions go, that one wasn’t all that dumb, but I make it clear on my site that I live in Canada so how the heck would I know the answer to her question.

In other reptile world news one of my close herp care friends is moving! He’s very well known in the reptile care field and he used to be just a short drive away from me so we could actually get together every now and then, but for some reason he’s moving to the Outer Banks in Carolina. I have no idea how long that drive would be from Ontario but I’m assuming it’s a pretty long drive. Oh well, guess we’ll have a nice place to visit if we go up there to see him sometime.

That’s the great thing about knowing people from all over the world. If you’re lucky you might have a place to stay when you travel, but at the very least you can get together with those people and they can perhaps show you around their city or their part of the world. That’s kind of cool.

Air ambulances services – fly your loved one home

May 18, 2007 by Tricia

As a nurse I know a lot about the health care field and the various services that are available to people through hospitals, medical clinics and the many services that are offered to those who are sick at home or who become sick while on vacation in another country.

Are you aware that air ambulance services exist? I don’t mean emergency rescue air ambulances – such as ones used to transport a car accident victim to a trauma hospital a few miles away from the source of the accident. No, I mean air ambulances that, for example, can transport a person who’s fallen ill in another Country or in another State, back to their city for medical care close to their families.

Just like keeping emergency phone numbers by the phone, you should bookmark the Airambulance.net website. You never know when you might need their services! In fact, the airambulance.net website is the central hub of information about air ambulance services in the United States.

Earlier I discussed that one might need this kind of service if they were on vacation and fell seriously ill in a place far from home – the other side of the Country or even in another Country. Air Ambulance services are used quite often to transport people out of Countries or from one area of the Country or State to another for all kinds of reasons.

If you lived in a remote area that didn’t have specialized medical services and you needed to go to a hospital in another part of the State or Country for treatments or for an operation that could save your life you would probably end up using an Air Ambulance service to get you there.

I know several nurses and paramedics that have worked for a variety of Air Ambulance services. These medical professionals are often the top in their field – extremely knowledgeable about emergency medical treatments, and highly professional as they deliver these services to those who are sick and seriously ill.

Air Ambulance services specialize in transporting patients who need basic to critical care on board air ambulances with state of the art medical equipment. Each aircraft used for the Air Ambulance service has life support equipment on board. As well as highly trained flight nurses and flight paramedics.

ProFlowers – special occasion flowers and gift ideas

May 12, 2007 by Tricia

Well it’s Mother’s day tomorrow. Did you make some plans to see your mother, or perhaps if you can’t be with her maybe you arranged for a flower delivery? If you forgot you can always send a belated flower delivery or gift basket.

ProFlowers has some wonderful selections of Mother’s Day flowers and even though it’s too late to order them for tomorrows delivery they have some gorgeous mixed bouquets. Some even come with free weekday delivery!

Did you know that Proflowers delivers the freshest flowers? The flowers for your selection come fresh from the fields. I don’t think that there are many other companies that specialize in flower delivery that can offer such fresh flowers.

Don’t feel like giving your mom or someone you love flowers? What about a lovely gift basket, or gourmet basket? Perhaps your mother would prefer a potted green plant or flowering plant? Maybe a bonsai or potted orchids? It’s up to you. Just know that there’s a wide selection of item to choose from at ProFlowers. You won’t be disappointed.

If you’d like to learn more about flowers you might enjoy taking a look at another section of their site called the Florapedia flower guide. You can use the guide to learn more about caring for plants, the meaning of the various flowers and their colors, and even get some help deciding which flowers to send your mom.

Remember to visit Proflowers the next time you need gift ideas or want to send flowers for a special occasion.

If you own or work for a small to large business you might be interested to know that Alentus is now offering SharePoint hosting.

SharePoint is packed with cool features for your organizations hosting needs. It’s the leading Microsoft web solution for document management, information sharing and team collaboration, and Alentus is offering the new Windows SharePoint Services in shared or dedicated hosting environments.

Some fantastic features of SharePoint are the 40 different templates that you can choose from, as well as project tracking. Each Windows SharePoint website comes pre-configured with a wealth of built in features. If you need a website for project management, a Class room or even HR management templates can be installed and customized to your exact needs. With SharePoint you can create blogs, forums, and wikis to compliment your businesses website.

This Microsoft web solution is great for document management, information sharing and team collaboration. Your employees will be able to work collaboratively on many different tasks such as documents, lists, events, images, calendars, announcements, contacts and many more projects. There’s even a new portal tool with mobile access that will allow members of your team to collaborate and manage content remotely.

Package prices begin at $30.95/month for the SharePoint professional Plan and go up to 99.50/month for the SharePoint Fortune 500 plan.

Plans include support for WSS 3.0, customized templates, 500 mb to 2 gb of Web server disk space, 40 to 200 SharePoint user accounts, 40 to 200 email accounts, 50 gb to 200 gb of monthly bandwidth, 200 mb to 1 gb of SharePoint document storage, Custom Web Parts supported, SSL certificate support, document search, and MS exchange 2003 support which is optional. All packages come with same day setup.

There are so many great features I can’t see how a small to large organization wouldn’t want to try this new Microsoft Windows SharePoint Hosting at Alentus. The prices of the three available packages seem reasonable as well.

I should mention that SharePoint is a secure tool that’s been built in a secure environment. Another important fact that any business would want when hosting their companies website.

The Alentus staff are knowledgeable, and the Alentus hosting site has a reputable uptime record.
