How to find a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program that’s right for you

July 29, 2007 by Tricia

My husband and I both work in a local city hospital. I’m an ER nurse and he’s been a hospital porter and is now an OR Recovery room attendant. Having worked in the field of health care for many years we’ve both seen some fantastic advances in medicine as well as some of the worst illnesses and cases of human suffering that you could imagine.

Working in the ER I care for patients with a variety of ailments. I try to care for each person as well as I can. Unfortunately the hospital is ill equipped to help people suffering from long term addictions. We can help so many people, but unless a person has come in with an overdose of drugs or dangerously high alcohol levels there isn’t much we can do for those that come in repeatedly due to their addictions.

When someone comes into the ER who has drank too much alcohol or who’s taken too many drugs we do everything we can medically to help them, but we can’t really help them with their ongoing addiction. Once these patients are stable we often end up sending them to a rehab facility if there is an opening available, or if they do not have a safe place to stay we will send them to a shelter. These are just temporary solutions and there are far too many people suffering with addictions so a placement for new patients is often hard to find.

That’s one reason why I appreciate places such as 1800nodrugs.com. This website is a non-profit portal that specializes in assisting those who are in need of addiction treatment, or health care workers who are trying to find a placement for their patients find long or short term drug rehabilitation programs.

You can visit the site or call 1800nodrugs at any time of day as they are open and ready to assist those in need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service is 100% free.

The staff at 1800nodrugs specialize in assisting drug addicts, chronic relapse victims, alcoholics and their families find the right type of addiction treatment or rehab program. They aim to find a program that suits the needs of each individual person as what works for one might not work for another.

They have information about the thousands of alcohol rehabilitation and drug treatment facilities across the country. I think this is great because while there might be treatment programs in your general area they might not suit your needs. Contacting 1800nodrugs will allow you to find out about other types of treatment programs which might be more suitable. Certainly if a person is willing to try rehabilitation they should go to a facility that would give them the best chance of success.

The website itself is easy to navigate. The number to call is of course within the domain name, and splashed across the top of every page of the site.

The left hand side of the page contains links to other sections of the site. You can learn more about addiction, alcoholism, relapse prevention, drug rehab, drug trends, alcohol rehab, types of addiction assessment, prescription drug addiction and duel diagnosis by clicking on the links in the left column.

The right hand side of the main page contains links to an online drug assessment form. It’s a short form that I believe will allow you and the staff at 1800nodrugs to discuss treatment plans and options via email if you do not have the ability to talk to the staff by phone or if you just wanted to inquire about drug or alcohol rehabilitation. You’ll also find links to information about international inquiries as well as a link to a section entitled “Get Financing” which will take you to a page that contains a simple form that can be filled out by those who need financial assistance for drug or alcohol treatment.

The main page of the site also has a number of links that will help a person suffering from addiction or their loved one either find a treatment program or learn how to support someone suffering from addiction. The article titles are What is the Best Drug rehab program?, How to break the drug addiction cycle and begin recovery, How to find a drug rehab center, and How to support alcohol recovery. The articles are all very well written and I’m sure you’ll find some helpful information if you were to read one or two of the articles.

If you or a loved one is suffering from drug, prescription drug or alcohol addiction give 1800nodrugs a call. It’s absolutely free and a simple phone call could be the first step to recovery and a long and healthy life.

Contest to design a PAYjr Visa Buxx Card

July 26, 2007 by Tricia

If you are creative and enjoy contests you might want to try your hand at the PAYjr Visa Buxx Teen Credit Card design competition. You could win some great prizes if your design wins the competition.

The contest is for a new prepaid credit card that teens are loving and parents are thrilled to use. Parents can load the card with the money that they’d normally pay their teen for chores around the house or with whatever amount of money they think is reasonable for their teen to have access to and then there teen can use the card wherever PAYjr Visa cards are accepted.

What’s great about this credit card is not only that it’s prepaid, it’s that teens can design their own card or choose from designs that have already been created. This of course is where the contest comes in. Do you think you can create a credit card design that teens will love using?

The design contest winner will be awarded with an Apple Laptop, the second place winner will get an Apple Video iPod and the third place winner will get an iPod Nano. I know that if I entered the contest I’d be pleased to win any of those prizes.

The winning designs will be used in the PAYjr Visa Credit card gallery where teens can choose to use them for their own credit card.

Just go to the page that I’ve linked to above and follow the instructions to enter the contest and upload your design. Once you’ve submitted your design you’ll be given code that you can place on your website or myspace page which will help you gain votes for the contest. The top three highest voted designs will win the contest.

Give it a try if you want to win any of those great prizes!

Were you a bridezilla?

July 24, 2007 by Tricia

Have you been watching any of the wedding related shows on TV lately? You know ones like Bridezilla? LOL I’ve only glanced at the shows as I’ve been searching for better forms of entertainment of perhaps even a show I could learn something from but the segments I have seen are kind of funny.

I can’t remember the exact details and probably wouldn’t get it right anyway since I didn’t see the whole show, but one particular segment I saw revolved around a bridal speech and the very odd things that the father of the bride and the Masters of Ceremonies, or maybe it was the best man, wanted to say during the reception dinner speeches about the new bride and groom. It had something to do with some very embarrassing things the couple did when they first got together. Naturally when the bride heard about this she went ballistic!

I don’t believe I was a bridezilla. I was a very tired bride. When Chris and I finally decided to get married we went and talked to our priest and he only had two decent dates left that year! My parents were older, and are now passed on, so I didn’t want to wait until the next year to get married just in case something happened to one of them. So we booked our wedding date for October 22nd in July of that same year. Like around this time in July.

That doesn’t leave much time to plan a wedding and reception for approximately 200 people! I pretty much did all the planning on my own and at the same time was working in a new nursing job that I’d started that June. Chris helped where he could of course, but it’s the women that generally plan all the little details that pull things together.

My closest bridezilla moment probably happened shortly after the wedding. We’d gone to have our photos taken in a lovely park and by the time we got to the reception hall all of our guests were already inside and snacking on the hor d oeuvres. They were supposed to have been in an upstairs hall waiting for our arrival and then we’d do the reception line and so on.

I was absolutely starving so I was looking forward to a few moments of privacy and the ability to eat a few of the delicious snacks without all eyes on me. So needless to say I was extremely disappointed to see everyone already in the hall when we arrived.

It turned out that the people who were supposed to taking care of the upstairs hall couldn’t make it because of an illness or death in the family. So that’s why my guests were in the wrong place.

Oh well, something always goes wrong at a wedding doesn’t it. What happened at yours?

FusedNetwork offers several web hosting options

July 20, 2007 by Tricia

I think that just about everyone who’s stopped by to read this blog or a couple of my other blogs in the last few weeks knows I’ve been having some serious issues with my current web host.

I’m currently looking for a new web hosting company so that I can perhaps put half the domains/sites I own on the new hosting site to split up my accounts and their load on shared web hosting servers. Hey – it might work – for a while anyway.

Having said that I’ve been taking a serious look at a number of web hosting companies. FusedNetwork.com is said to have Quality Web Hosting. Let’s see what they have to offer shall we?

They have four different shared hosting accounts. Shared hosting is when your account is placed on the same server as a number of other accounts. Shared hosting is pretty much all that the average individual website owner or blogger needs if their site has low to moderate traffic levels.

Each shared hosting account offered by FusedNetwork offers a certain amount of diskspace to store your files, a certain amount of transfer (this tallies how much traffic your site can have per month), e-mail accounts, subdomains, MySQL databases, and FTP accounts. The amounts of each of the above varies with each account.

For example, the hosting packages are numbered, #1 offers a website owner 1024 mb of diskspace, 10GB transfer, 100 email accounts, 25 subdomains, 3 MySQL databases and 10 FTP accounts for the low cost of $9.95 per month or $107.46 per year. The highest priced shared account, #4 offers all of the above but in larger amounts for the price of $19.95 per month or $215.46 per year.

Setup is absolutely free for all of the shared accounts.

The shared hosting packages come with all of the standard extras which include C-panel for easy management of your account, directories and domains, web stat packages, script support such as PHP, and mail packages.

FusedNetwork doesn’t seem to offer Virtual Private Hosting (VPS) but they do offer 3 different Dedicated server packages that range in price from $200 to $400 per month.

The company seems dedicated to offering quality service and support.

One thing I like to find when I’m looking at a hosting company is a forum. You can learn a lot by reading a hosting forum prior to purchasing an account. You can also ask pre-sale questions on a forum as well if you have any concerns that haven’t been answered on the sites pages.

Visited FusedNetwork.com and see which package might suite your needs if you’ve been looking for your first or a new web host.
