Planning the decor of our unfinished living room dining room

March 29, 2007 by Tricia

Well I was just talking about my interest in interior design in my last post. Lately I’ve been talking about our renovation projects on my Home and Gardening blog more than on this site.

I’m just dreaming of getting our living room reno finished. We are in the middle of a big job. We have to finish or well … start putting up tin ceiling tiles. I purchased almost 100 of them 2 x 2 feet square three years ago. I had to paint them myself and I’ve actually antiqued them to make them fit with the style of our 1927 house.

Once the ceiling is done wide baseboards and lovely wide molding will be applied to the walls, and other than a little bit of redecorating our living room dining room reno will be finished.

In anticipation of finishing our renovation I’ve been looking at a number of home décor sites. At this point we don’t have anything on our walls. I have some very nice paintings that I’d like to put up and that will help, but it needs more.

The living room portion of the room is on the north side of the house it’s very dark. So I’ve been thinking that putting a nice mirror, perhaps like this art deco style mirror somewhere in the living room where it will catch some of the light from the south side of the house. The mirror is a piece of art in itself and will add beauty to the room, but if it can lighten or brighten the room as well it will add function.

What do you think? Isn’t that just a lovely mirror?

Personalize your posts and e-mail with a signature

March 28, 2007 by Tricia

livesignature.jpg

I think that most people try to personalize the e-mail that they send in some way. Often people will add their name and possibly a link to their website to the end of the e-mail that they are sending. In fact, most e-mail programs can be set up to do this automatically.

Wouldn’t it be nice to make your email signature even more personal? Well you can with My Live Signature. In fact, you can use the signature that you create on Mylivesignature.com in your e-mail, forum posts, blog posts, website, and documents.

I suppose that pretty much anywhere that you can attach or embed an image you could use your personal “MyliveSignature” image.

You can create an imitation of your signature using the signature creation wizard. The creation wizard is completely free to use. All you have to do is register for a free account on the MyLiveSignature site.

Using the signature creation wizard I typed in “Tricia P.”. Yes, my last name is probably easy enough to find, but for now we’ll just go with the initial for my last name. I was then taken to a page that listed examples of Tricia P. written in different font styles. I was given over 100 choices of styles.

I could chose from styles that were in very ornate, or old English style font or ones closer to true hand writing or printing. I’m left handed and I was pleased to see that some of the signature styles had the appearance of being written by a lefty.

I picked a signature that was close enough to my own handwriting style, and then clicked on the “next” button at the end of the page. On the next page I picked the size of the signature that I wanted, and after that I picked the color of the signature.

I was surprised, and pleased, to find that I still had more choices to make. The fourth step in the Signature creation wizard was to select the “Slope” or angle of the signature. I chose one on a slight slope to give it a more hurried and authentic look.

The final step was to simply name the file. When I clicked finished the file was saved as I’d named it “triciap” and I could access it from a menu on the left side of the page by selecting “Use my Signature”.

When I clicked on “Use my Signature” I was taken to a page that gave me a choice of HTML or BB code. I picked HTML code and was given two more choices as to how I wanted the final signature to look and then I generated the code.

Here’s the signature file that I created:

Isn’t that cool?

The MyLiveSignature.com site has a tutorial that you can go through to see all of the options you can use while creating a signature.

They also offer a service where you can submit an image of your actual signature and their designers will create a MyliveSignature” file of your real signature. If you’d like to use your real signature they have two options and the prices range from $9.95 for a scanned image, to $19.95 for an animated image. You can get 20% off the price of an animated signature right now.

I like how easy it was to create a signature file. You can easily create new signatures in different styles or colors to suit the site or document that you wanted to use them in.

I can see signature files from MyLiveSignature.com being used on blogs all over the world to give posts a personal touch.

Side effects of Hoodia?

March 28, 2007 by Tricia

I’m sure you’ve heard of Hoodia? It’s commonly used as a weight loss product. I’m wondering if any of my readers have tried Hoodia? If you have, what do you think? Have you lost weight? Has it worked for you?

I just visited the Hoodia gordonii Guide too see if there were any known Hoodia side effects and apparently there are none. Other weight loss products that contain stimulants such as ephedra can cause your heart to race and have been known to cause some very serious side effects, however as far as I can find there hasn’t been any serious side effects noted with the use of Hoodia.

Apparently you can get headaches and or become irritable when first using Hoodia, but that might just be the result of changes exercise levels or some of the side effects of starting to loose weight. In fact, changing your diet to eliminate empty carbs and excess sugars might give you headaches and make you irritable. This might be somewhat like withdrawl since your body must adjust to the change in diet.

If you are thinking of using Hoodia as a weight loss aid you might be interested in reading the Hoodia gordonii Guide to learn more about this natural weight loss product.

Florblanca Resort Costa Rica

March 25, 2007 by Tricia

My husband and I haven’t done much traveling together as a couple. That doesn’t mean that we don’t want to! It’s just that between our jobs, my being sick, and the two of us having gone back to school in the past we just haven’t been able to find the time when we could take a really nice vacation together.

One of the places that is near the top of our list to visit is Costa Rica.

You might need a little bit of background on Chris and I to understand why Costa Rica is near the top of our most desired vacation spots. To keep the story short I’ll just say that Chris and I really love wildlife, in particular we enjoy seeing and keeping reptiles and amphibians as pets. A holiday in a land known for it’s diverse flora and fauna just as Costar Rica would be ideal for us.

I was visiting the Florblanca.com site just now as they specialize in costa rica travel. The site is just gorgeous. It’s full of photos of Costa Rica and has information on just about anything you could possibly want to know about this absolutely gorgeous country.

There are so many things one could do in Costa Rica and Forblanca.com lists it all. There is information about the Florblanca resorts accommodations, excursions – such as “fly out” adventures, Costa Rica’s wildlife, flora and fauna, activities, special events and even information about how to get to the Florblanca resort.

Even if you’ve never thought of taking a vacation in Costa Rica. I urge you to visit the site just to look at the lovely photography. It’s a beautiful place, and I wouldn’t be surprised if after browsing the site and looking at all the photos if Costa Rica ended up being put on your short list of places to visit.

Adorable new Spring line of baby clothes

March 25, 2007 by Tricia

Chris and I have been hoping to have a baby of our own for a long time now. Unfortunately my illness makes it a bit harder to become pregnant, but we are hoping that before the year is over that a baby might be on it’s way.

Since babies are on my mind these days I’ve been paying a little bit more attention to stores that sell baby clothing and accessories. One of the stores that I’ve bookmarked is called Baby CZ. I’m sure that a lot of the mothers who read my site will be interested in Baby CZ.

Baby CZ was founded and is managed by fashion designer Carolina Zapf. The store has built a great reputation and has become well known for it’s line of luxury baby clothing. In fact, they’ve just come out with their new Spring line and it’s on sale too!

The baby and children’s clothing lines that you’ll find at Baby CZ are well made using quality materials. I’ve gone through the site looking at many of the designs and I think the styles are just adorable. You’ll find everything from dresses, cardigans, jackets, blouses, accessories and more at this online store. They even have cashmere baby clothes!

If you have a baby or young child, or need to buy a gift for someone that does visit Baby CZ today.
