Lingerie parties and Lingerie sales

May 19, 2007 by Tricia

Oh oh! I got an email earlier from my niece and she’s having a lingerie party! She’s holding it at the end of May. That could be interesting!

Thinking about lingerie parties just reminded me that for a very short time I once sold lingerie! It was sometime just before I started working as a nurse. I might even have still been in school at the time. I attended a lingerie party that was being held at a friends and some how I ended up getting talked into selling the stuff myself!

It’s kind of like holding Avon or Tupperware parties. You have your samples and you get a friend to hold a party. You go ahead of time and set everything up. What a pain when you have at least two racks of clothing! Then once everyone arrives you do a little presentation and anyone interested checks out the clothing, tries it on and hopefully orders from you.

I did ok at this, but it was time consuming and I felt like I was using my friends. Plus, you may not realize this about me, but I’m actually kind of shy in public. Especially when I’m around a lot of people that I don’t really know. I don’t think I’m as shy now as I used to be … I mean I’m a nurse – I’ve got to speak to strangers and ask them all kinds of personal details about themselves, and I do my darnedest to get a laugh or smile out of people and you can’t be too shy to do that! However, put me in a restaurant by myself to eat a meal or up on stage to give a speech and it’s not pretty!

Anyway, I don’t know if my niece is selling the lingerie or if she’s just holding the party. I wonder if I’ll end up ordering anything interesting?

Air ambulances services – fly your loved one home

May 18, 2007 by Tricia

As a nurse I know a lot about the health care field and the various services that are available to people through hospitals, medical clinics and the many services that are offered to those who are sick at home or who become sick while on vacation in another country.

Are you aware that air ambulance services exist? I don’t mean emergency rescue air ambulances – such as ones used to transport a car accident victim to a trauma hospital a few miles away from the source of the accident. No, I mean air ambulances that, for example, can transport a person who’s fallen ill in another Country or in another State, back to their city for medical care close to their families.

Just like keeping emergency phone numbers by the phone, you should bookmark the Airambulance.net website. You never know when you might need their services! In fact, the airambulance.net website is the central hub of information about air ambulance services in the United States.

Earlier I discussed that one might need this kind of service if they were on vacation and fell seriously ill in a place far from home – the other side of the Country or even in another Country. Air Ambulance services are used quite often to transport people out of Countries or from one area of the Country or State to another for all kinds of reasons.

If you lived in a remote area that didn’t have specialized medical services and you needed to go to a hospital in another part of the State or Country for treatments or for an operation that could save your life you would probably end up using an Air Ambulance service to get you there.

I know several nurses and paramedics that have worked for a variety of Air Ambulance services. These medical professionals are often the top in their field – extremely knowledgeable about emergency medical treatments, and highly professional as they deliver these services to those who are sick and seriously ill.

Air Ambulance services specialize in transporting patients who need basic to critical care on board air ambulances with state of the art medical equipment. Each aircraft used for the Air Ambulance service has life support equipment on board. As well as highly trained flight nurses and flight paramedics.

Underwear from Down Under

May 16, 2007 by Tricia

Yesterday Chris and I went on a big shopping spree, but perhaps we didn’t need to buy as much as we did in a department store. I was just looking at a site called DUGG – which is short for Down Under Guys Gear – and they sell all kinds of mens underwear, accessories and clothing.

I probably shouldn’t be saying this online, but that’s one thing we didn’t buy yesterday that we probably should have. I’m pretty sure that Chris could use some new underwear.

He hasn’t purchased underwear in years! By that I do not mean that he’s been wearing the same old briefs over and over again for years. No, I mean his mommy still gives him underwear as a gift. It’s one thing we can always count on – He gets underwear at Christmas and birthdays and sometimes just for the heck of it. Me – I always seem to get scented candles – go figure.

Visit the site to see all the different styles of underwear that you can buy. You can find everything from Briefs, trunks, hipsters, g-strings, jockstraps, tops and singlets, swimwear, sleepwear, socks and boxers. There are several well known name brands to choose from too – so if you have a favorite brand you’ll probably find it there.

The company is based in Australia, but you can tell immediately that they sell world wide. How do I know that? Well I’m in Canada and the site automatically knew where I was located so it showed me the prices in Canadian dollars. That’s a cool site feature. I also knew that they shipped worldwide because it actually says that at the bottom of every page I visited. DUGG offers free shipping on domestic orders over $50, and international orders over $80. If you become a member of the site and contact them before you make your second purchase you’ll get an ongoing 5% discount as well.

If you know a guy who needs some nice new underwear go and visit DUGG.

Our home reno project du jour

May 16, 2007 by Tricia

I’m starting to get into that renovation mode again. Chris and I have been working on our house since the very first day that we got it. On the second day in our home we were taking out all of the wall to wall carpeting and knocking down three of the walls that sectioned off the living room dining room. We mean business when we get busy renovating!

A few weeks ago I bought a new domain that I might move my gardening blog over to at some point. Whether I do or don’t it’s going to be a Home and Garden blog and I’ll be talking about decor, interior design, home renovation as well as my love of gardening on that site. I haven’t done a thing with it but it will be located at homeandgardendiva.com.

We’ve taken photos of our projects as we’ve been doing them – again from day one. So I’m sure I’ll have lots of photos of our work on the new site. You’ve got to see our living room and dining room walls! I did them myself in Venetian plaster. I worked 18 hours a day for three weeks straight to finish 600 square feet of wall in a tri color venetian plaster of my own mix.

The walls are a lovely shade of yellow with light yellow and off white mixed in. Venetian plaster looks quite a bit like marble and it’s got a sheen to it from all the hand polishing I did when I did the job. I don’t have any photos on this computer or in my flickr account that do it justice right now. I’ll have to take some tomorrow and possibly add them to this post. However, it has a real Mediterranean or European feel to it like that of the Tuscany Villas. It’s beautiful.

The furniture in our Dining room is all antique, and our living room has a much more modern tech feel with our HDTV and leather couches and recliner. The walls pull it all together and make it look amazing. All we have to do in the room now is get the molding and our beautiful tin ceiling up!

Honest, I think that when I do eventually show you guys photos of our living room / dining room you’ll love it. The styles that I’ve put together are all different and I’m sure that it might not sound like it goes together as well as I’m telling you that it does, but just you wait. I’ll show you photos one day and you’ll see what I mean.

All we have to do is finish this job! I’m glad I’m starting to get into the mood to do it again. Oh and I’ve come up with a bribe for Chris too. He really wants to get a very expensive piece of equipment for his guitar. It’s about $500 but it has to be install into his guitar. It’s a special pick up if you want to know. His acoustic guitar does have a nice pick up but he wants to replace it with this deluxe one and put the old pick up in another guitar – another installation charge! I figure it will cost about $700 bucks to get this all done. My deal with him is that if he does go ahead and get this for his guitar we have to get started on our living room dining room project again – and get it done by sometime this summer. I think it’ll work.

So many channels yet nothings on

May 16, 2007 by Tricia

I can’t believe that there was almost nothing on TV Tuesday evening. Yeah there was Dancing with the Stars, and I wouldn’t be surprised if American idol was on too but I don’t watch those shows. I just don’t get anything out of them. Even if I did like them there’d be no way that I could get Chris to watch them!

Heck, he gave up on the Amazing Race on me when the contestants started to get too whiny and he actually likes that show. LOL I don’t even like the show that much when the couples, friends or relatives start bitching at each other a lot.

At least House was on. I taped it, but didn’t get a chance to watch it yet. We watched Monday nights CSI Miami instead.

I didn’t even sort through the new clothes that we bought yet! Man I hope most of them fit. Well … for our budget it’d be better if I only like half of them because we sure spent a lot of money at Winners yesterday afternoon!
