Make your own photo art at Photo Fiddle

July 4, 2007 by Tricia

I have to tell you about this really cool site called photo art. It’s a site where you can take one of your photos and using one of the 50 great styles they have to choose from – oil painting, collage, warhol pop art and so on – and turn it into wall art!

Obviously with my new SLR camera I’m going to be very much into photography for the next while so I can see myself playing around with some of my photos on photofiddle.com.

The site seems to be very easy to use. Just sign in or create a membership and then you can begin uploading a photo to apply a design style to. Remember there are over 50 design styles to work with so you are bound to create something unique and interesting when you work with your photo.

Here’s an example of what you can do with a scenic photo:

Once you are happy with your new design you can create a canvas or art print. According to the FAQ it takes about four days to complete your photo to photo art request, but once it’s done you’ll have some new art of your own creation to hang on your wall.

Until July 10th you can use this coupon to get 20% off your purchase price – promo code: SUMMER07 That sounds like a great deal to me!

PhotoFiddle has been discussed in PC Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Yahoo Tech Editor, USA Today and even made the Oprah O List.

Check it out for yourselves if this sounds interesting. I know once I upload my latest photos to my computer I might go and play with them on PhotoFiddle.com and see what I can do with them. Who knows, I might end up getting some new artwork!

Spice things up with items from Candies Playhouse

July 1, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve been asked to discuss the online store – CandiesPlayhouse.com. If you enjoy shopping for and wearing Lingerie you’ll probably want to visit Candies Playhouse.

I think almost all women have purchased lingerie at one time or another. What kind of lingerie woman are you?

Are you the kind who wears lingerie under your work clothes just because it makes you feel sexy. A little secret that no one, but you will know about while you goes about your job.

Or are you the kind of woman that buys lingerie because you feel most comfortable in lingerie when you sleep?

Perhaps you’ve purchased lingerie for a special evening with your lover? Special occasions could range from your honeymoon to a regular date night or anything in between.

There are as many reasons why women wear lingerie as there are styles.

Speaking of styles Candies Playhouse offers a wide selection of lingerie for men and women. You’ll find Lingerie of all styles – demure to dominatrix, in sizes from Misses to Plus size, made of materials such as Lycra, lace, satin, vinyl and leather.

When you visit the site you’ll find an easy to use menu on the left side of each page. You’ll be able to select from categories such as Leather Lingerie, vinyl wear, hosiery, Misses and plus size costumes, costume accessories, Mens sexy wear, fashion jewelry, garters and gloves, latex wear, sassy tops, Rhinestone bra and panty sets, XOXO collection and the Bath & Massage section.

As you can see from the selection of categories you could purchase Sexy Lingerie for yourself and your man as well as any accessories such as jewelry, hosiery or massage oils to make for an exciting evening for the two of you to enjoy.

I’ve always been partial to baby doll lingerie. It’s a sexy style and it’s comfortable to sleep in too. Candies Playhouse has 6 pages of Baby dolls and Chemises to browse through!

The Bath & Massage section has bath oils with names such as Kama Sutra Oils of Love and Kama Sutra bath gel. You’ll also find the Lovers paint box and Kama Sutra Oils Of Love in Chocolate Mint flavor too. There’s a couple of pages of items to chose from in this section and I’m sure that picking one or two of these delicious sounding products would make for a very interesting evening.

If you visit the main page of the site you’ll find a banner that states “Everything is on sale!”. Use the coupon code listed on the banner and you’ll get an extra 15% off your purchase.

Not only can you get an extra 15% off the price of your purchase, but if the total is $75 or more you’ll also receive free standard shipping. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

New Toys

July 1, 2007 by Tricia

In honor of Canada’s Birthday I got a new SLR camera and I bought my husband a HD video camera! Whew! That was expensive!

Let’s just say this is the beginning of Chris’ birthday celebration? His birthday is next week on the 8th. I’ve already told him that the HD video camera was his birthday present. Actually, considering how expensive it was I might get away with making that his Christmas present too!

Yeah, yeah, my new camera covers my birthday and Christmas as well.

I’ll tell you more about our new toys and how we plan to use them soon!

BTW due to my site troubles that I’ll tell you more about in another post I did not do a Photo Hunter or Green Thumb Sunday post this weekend. I may still do them, but if I don’t I hope you’ll understand why.

I have not had a good few days.

Our new toys are a highlight but my site troubles have been a total downer!

Entertaining friends at home with a friendly game of pool

June 27, 2007 by Tricia

When my husband and I used to live in our apartment we lived in a very active area of Toronto. We were within walking distance of night clubs, fantastic restaurants, small retail stores that sold everything from gift items to beautiful antiques, and a no less than four bars that had pool tables.

If we weren’t out with friends, our friends were at our house often enjoying one of my gourmet dinners. We enjoyed entertaining. We still do but we do less entertaining lately.

Now, I’m not a very good pool player. I believe it has something to do with me being left handed, but I could be wrong about that, I just might be bad at it. Still, I enjoy playing, and I enjoy watching my husband play. He’s very good.

When we lived in the apartment we’d go to one of the bars that had pool tables approximately once a week. We’d walk over with a couple of friends, have a few drinks and play a few games. It was fun and I have good memories of those times.

There is a pool hall and a really nice bar with pool tables within walking distance of our house, but I’d say we only go out to play pool once a month or less these days.

As I’ve said before Chris and I are in the process of renovating our home. One of the areas up for renovating is our basement. It’s not finished at all. We’d like to make the basement into a rec room or den which may or may not contain a bedroom.

When we’ve talked about what we want out of the basement when it’s finished one of the things that’s come up a few times is my husbands desire to have a pool table. He wants to be able to play darts too but the ceiling is so low it’s dangerous! I think a pool table would be fine down there though. Our friends would certainly enjoy it if we had a pool table since our home is still considered an entertainment hub amongst our friends.

I’m discussing pool tables right now because I’ve just visited BostonTables.com and they have a lovely selection of well made pool tables. Take a look at this beautiful model:

Boston Tables specializes in Pool Tables, Game Tables and accessories. They are actually a national company that operates in multiple States. They ship throughout all of the United States via their Columbus Ohio distribution center.

If you’ve ever considered getting a pool table for your home it might be a good idea to take a look at their selection right now as they are having a sale. Almost all of the pool tables that are shown on the page that I linked to earlier are priced under $2000.

If Chris and I were to get a pool table I’d certainly want one of a similar design as the image above. Isn’t that gorgeous? I love the shape of the legs and the beautiful wood that’s been used. It would actually suit the style of our 1927 house and the way I’ve furnished some of the rooms.

It’s too bad that we don’t already have a pool table. One of our old friends will be staying with us this weekend and some of the best times I’ve had with this guy have been while playing pool with him. He’s quite the character.

Actually we’re going to have guests all summer long. Chris’ brother and one of his boys are coming from Chicago the in a week, and in early August his other two children will be coming to stay with us for a couple of weeks.

Now wouldn’t it be great to have a pool table to entertain our guests?

It’s certainly something fun to do, and staying in rather than going out to bars to play pool would save some money too. Actually come to think of it, with the money that you could save by going out less often and entertaining at home instead the pool table would practically pay for itself in no time.

Hmmm the idea sounds more and more appealing doesn’t it?

Medicine the way it’s supposed to be practiced

June 26, 2007 by Tricia

Living in Canada and working in the health care field I can’t complain too much about our health care system. Well … sure you can always complain about something, but considering that people in other parts of the world don’t have access to health care I really can’t complain much.

Now, having said that, I know that the US health care system is very different that my own. I know that you generally need to have health insurance to get access to services that you need, and sometimes HMO’s don’t allow their clients to see the doctors that they want to see, or to have the tests that have been recommended.

Now I’m not going to get into all of that as that would be a huge post in itself. However what I did want to tell you about does have something to do with the level of service you might currently be experiencing.

If you are tired of not being able to see the doctors that you think you should be seeing, or not being able to see your doctor as often as you think you need to then you might want to take a look at the services provided by MDVIP.

MDVIP provides a service that’s somewhat like having your own concierge doctors. Even doctors seem to enjoy working with MDVIP because they can spend whatever amount of time they need to with each patient, they can counsel their patients properly about diseases and disorders that they have, or that they are at risk of getting because they have time to sit down and talk with each patient, and they don’t have to worry about tests and other services being declined by outside HMO’s.

Think about it from the patient side of things. Wouldn’t it be nice to make an appointment with your doctor to talk over all the symptoms you might be having? To actually sit down and get a full understanding of a disorder that you might have recently been diagnosed as having? Instead of being handed a pamphlet and being told that you’ll hear from another service about treatment?

Physicians at MDVIP focus on preventative medicine which is why they take the time to explain things to their patients and discuss concerns so that they can better evaluate a patient, their progress and their risk for future ailments and try to prevent those diseases or disorders from happening.

The doctors limit their practice to only 600 patients so that they can devote the proper amount of care and time to each individual in their practice.

As a patient you’ll get the MDVIP yearly physical which is a complete physical, a personalized wellness plan, same or next day appointments that last as long as needed, and access to your physician through a 24 hour pager or cell phone.

To me, this sounds like medicine the way it’s always been supposed to be practiced.

Please visit the MDVIP site to learn more about their services to see if this is a service that would suit your needs.
