Bedding can change the look and feel of a room

July 31, 2007 by Tricia

As far as I’m concerned you can never have enough nice bedding. There was a time, when I was first living in my apartment and decorating it, that you might say I was a “bedding junkie”. I purchased way too many sheets, duvets and comforters than I needed for my one double bed!

Now that we live in a house we have three different sizes of beds – twin, double and queen. The only bed that I could probably get more bedding for would be the queen sized bed which just happens to be the one that we use every night.

I just love dressing up a bed with new sheets, duvets or comforters. It can change the whole look and feel of a room.

Today I’ve spent some time looking at the lovely selection of bedding at Terry’s Fabrics. They have some very nice printed duvet covers, embroidered duvet covers, and quilted bedspreads. I found a few different styles that would look great in our bedroom if I were to buy them. The prices are reasonable as well.

If you’re looking for new bedding for your home take a look at the selection at Terry’s Fabrics. I think you’ll like what you see.

How to find a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program that’s right for you

July 29, 2007 by Tricia

My husband and I both work in a local city hospital. I’m an ER nurse and he’s been a hospital porter and is now an OR Recovery room attendant. Having worked in the field of health care for many years we’ve both seen some fantastic advances in medicine as well as some of the worst illnesses and cases of human suffering that you could imagine.

Working in the ER I care for patients with a variety of ailments. I try to care for each person as well as I can. Unfortunately the hospital is ill equipped to help people suffering from long term addictions. We can help so many people, but unless a person has come in with an overdose of drugs or dangerously high alcohol levels there isn’t much we can do for those that come in repeatedly due to their addictions.

When someone comes into the ER who has drank too much alcohol or who’s taken too many drugs we do everything we can medically to help them, but we can’t really help them with their ongoing addiction. Once these patients are stable we often end up sending them to a rehab facility if there is an opening available, or if they do not have a safe place to stay we will send them to a shelter. These are just temporary solutions and there are far too many people suffering with addictions so a placement for new patients is often hard to find.

That’s one reason why I appreciate places such as 1800nodrugs.com. This website is a non-profit portal that specializes in assisting those who are in need of addiction treatment, or health care workers who are trying to find a placement for their patients find long or short term drug rehabilitation programs.

You can visit the site or call 1800nodrugs at any time of day as they are open and ready to assist those in need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service is 100% free.

The staff at 1800nodrugs specialize in assisting drug addicts, chronic relapse victims, alcoholics and their families find the right type of addiction treatment or rehab program. They aim to find a program that suits the needs of each individual person as what works for one might not work for another.

They have information about the thousands of alcohol rehabilitation and drug treatment facilities across the country. I think this is great because while there might be treatment programs in your general area they might not suit your needs. Contacting 1800nodrugs will allow you to find out about other types of treatment programs which might be more suitable. Certainly if a person is willing to try rehabilitation they should go to a facility that would give them the best chance of success.

The website itself is easy to navigate. The number to call is of course within the domain name, and splashed across the top of every page of the site.

The left hand side of the page contains links to other sections of the site. You can learn more about addiction, alcoholism, relapse prevention, drug rehab, drug trends, alcohol rehab, types of addiction assessment, prescription drug addiction and duel diagnosis by clicking on the links in the left column.

The right hand side of the main page contains links to an online drug assessment form. It’s a short form that I believe will allow you and the staff at 1800nodrugs to discuss treatment plans and options via email if you do not have the ability to talk to the staff by phone or if you just wanted to inquire about drug or alcohol rehabilitation. You’ll also find links to information about international inquiries as well as a link to a section entitled “Get Financing” which will take you to a page that contains a simple form that can be filled out by those who need financial assistance for drug or alcohol treatment.

The main page of the site also has a number of links that will help a person suffering from addiction or their loved one either find a treatment program or learn how to support someone suffering from addiction. The article titles are What is the Best Drug rehab program?, How to break the drug addiction cycle and begin recovery, How to find a drug rehab center, and How to support alcohol recovery. The articles are all very well written and I’m sure you’ll find some helpful information if you were to read one or two of the articles.

If you or a loved one is suffering from drug, prescription drug or alcohol addiction give 1800nodrugs a call. It’s absolutely free and a simple phone call could be the first step to recovery and a long and healthy life.

Our next reno project will be the bathroom

July 26, 2007 by Tricia

I have great news! Remember the other day I showed you some photos of bathroom vanities? Well I showed the website to my husband, pointing out the two main bathroom vanities that I liked best and he likes them too.

He’s agreed that our next reno project will be our upstairs bathroom! We’re going to seriously think about purchasing one of those vanities while they are still on sale.

I’m so excited! I’ll have the most beautiful bathroom when it’s done!

Contest to design a PAYjr Visa Buxx Card

July 26, 2007 by Tricia

If you are creative and enjoy contests you might want to try your hand at the PAYjr Visa Buxx Teen Credit Card design competition. You could win some great prizes if your design wins the competition.

The contest is for a new prepaid credit card that teens are loving and parents are thrilled to use. Parents can load the card with the money that they’d normally pay their teen for chores around the house or with whatever amount of money they think is reasonable for their teen to have access to and then there teen can use the card wherever PAYjr Visa cards are accepted.

What’s great about this credit card is not only that it’s prepaid, it’s that teens can design their own card or choose from designs that have already been created. This of course is where the contest comes in. Do you think you can create a credit card design that teens will love using?

The design contest winner will be awarded with an Apple Laptop, the second place winner will get an Apple Video iPod and the third place winner will get an iPod Nano. I know that if I entered the contest I’d be pleased to win any of those prizes.

The winning designs will be used in the PAYjr Visa Credit card gallery where teens can choose to use them for their own credit card.

Just go to the page that I’ve linked to above and follow the instructions to enter the contest and upload your design. Once you’ve submitted your design you’ll be given code that you can place on your website or myspace page which will help you gain votes for the contest. The top three highest voted designs will win the contest.

Give it a try if you want to win any of those great prizes!

Help Me Pick Out A Beautiful Bathroom Vanity

July 25, 2007 by Tricia

I’m getting tired of our house being in a constant state of renovation.

Over the next month or so my husband and I hope to get back to work on our living room / dining room renovations. We’re almost done. It’s just that we’ve taken an extended break. All we have to do is put up the tin ceiling tiles, baseboard moldings, and ceiling moldings then we’ll be done and ready to move on to our next project.

Chris wants us to work on our basement next, but I’m so tired of our tiny bathroom that I might insist that our bathroom renovation take priority. After all, a girls got to have a nice bathroom, doesn’t she?

Our house was built in 1927 and it’s a solid brick somewhat old fashioned style. It has hardwood throughout and I’ve filled our home with a mix of modern and antique decor. I love modern styles and conveniences, but there’s nothing more beautiful to me than ornate well made traditional furnishings.

If our next major renovation project is the upstairs bathroom I think I’ve already found a store that sells the type of bathroom Furniture vanities that I’d like to use.

Take a look at this lovely Scroll leg Vessel Vanity Sink Cabinet:

scrolllegvessel.jpg Isn’t it lovely?

That’s what I meant when I said I love modern and antique to traditional design. This is a perfect combination of the two. I adore the look of vessel vanities, and this antique style scroll legged cabinet.

I actually wish that we were closer to beginning our bathroom renovation because this lovely bathroom vanity is on sale from now until August 7th.

There are many lovely bathroom vanities, bathroom cabinets and other types of bathroom furniture and decor at HomeLivingstyle.com. I’ve enjoyed just spending some time browsing through their selection. I’m pretty sure that if we did decide to purchase a bathroom vanity from HomeLivingstyle that I’d have a hard time deciding exactly which vanity cabinet to buy.

There’s another vanity that caught my eye that has an even more antique cabinet style.

twistcolumnvanitysink.jpg I like this Twist column vanity sink cabinet because the cabinet actually looks very similar in style to the two antique dressers that we have in our bedroom.

Now I’m getting excited about finishing our current renovation and starting the bathroom reno. The actual renovation project can be fun if you get into it, but I love picking out new furnishings and I’m pretty sure that I’ve just narrowed down some of my bathroom decor choices.

What do you think of my choices? Which one do you like best?

If you are thinking of replacing your current bathroom vanity or bathroom cabinet take a look at HomeLivingStyle. They have a large selection of bathroom vanities and cabinets in different style and sizes.
