Can’t wait for the flowers to grow? Buy a bouquet!

March 1, 2008 by Tricia

I think just about anyone that’s visited this blog a few times knows that I absolutely adore flowers. Hardly a week goes by when I don’t post at least one photo of the flowers I grow in my garden. I’m so thankful for the photos that I have considering that I live in such a cold climate! I mean, I can’t enjoy my love of flowers any other way during our long winter … or can I?

I could of course purchase fresh Flowers from a site such as e-florists-inc to get me through the next month or two until my own flowers are blooming. You could too if you wanted to brighten your home with a lovely bouquet. After all there’s nothing quite like a beautiful floral arrangement as the center piece on the dinner table when you’re having a romantic dinner with someone you love.

You can find some beautiful flower selections at e-florists-inc. You can shop by the type of flower or plant, or by the occasion as they have arrangements that are perfect for birthdays, the birth of a baby, for Mom or to say congratulations to a friend or co-worker just to name a few of the selections from which you can choose.

roses.jpg If you purchase one of their best selling arrangements you can get it for up to 50% off as they’ve already reduced the prices on their most popular bouquets and gift baskets. I really like the white rose and white lily arrangement that I’ve include to the right. Isn’t it lovely?

If you’ve been thinking of buying some flowers for your home or as a special occasion gift for someone do take a look at their selection. They have some lovely arrangements. Easter’s coming up soon, perhaps you’ll want some flowers for your home at that time?

I spent quite a bit of time browsing through the site since I’m just fascinated with flowers. If you’re as interested in flowers as I am or if you’d like to learn more about how a Blossom develops and how flowers have become masters at attracting certain types of insects in order to pollinate you should take a look at the Wikipedia article that I found. It will answering any possible questions that you have about blossoms!

What’s your favorite menswear style for women?

February 24, 2008 by Tricia

Have you ever noticed how great mens clothes look on some women?

Certainly some things, like mens shirts, feel much more comfortable and cozy to wear then a ladies fitted blouse. Come on admit it, I bet there’s few women reading this that haven’t thrown on one of their boyfriends or husbands shirts at least once.

My husbands actually shorter than me so I’m not in the habit of wearing his clothes. He, on the other hand, has been known to wear some of mine! No, no I know what your thinking – it’s not like that at all! … he’ll sometimes be lazy and grab one of my coats to put on or one of my sweaters or even my shoes when he’s got to go outside. He looks awfully silly in my puffy winter ski jacket or and he stretches my shoes with his wide feet when he wears them!

vest.jpg It’s not likely that I’ll ever wear any of his clothes, but I do like some menswear fashions that have made their way into female fashions. Take for example the womens vest. It’s obviously been converted from menswear. Womens vests are often tapered at the waist and contoured to fit our curves and can be very flattering when worn with a blouse and skirt or perhaps even some Denim stovepipes or dress pants. That would be a great outfit either for the office or for a casual night out depending upon which items you chose to wear with the vest.

That’s what I like about vests. They’re so versatile.

belt.jpg You’d of course need to accessorize your outfit. A womens western style belt and perhaps a studded purse would look great if you were wearing the vest with a pair of straight legged jeans.

I really like the belt that I’ve shown you above. It has a feminine pattern to it, but it still has a bit of it’s masculine roots. It’s a good thing that my purse is on the other side of the room as I have a strong urge to pull out my credit card and do a little online shopping!

When you think about it, a lot of womens fashions today originated as menswear. In a way we’ve all been wearing mens clothing and probably didn’t even realize it. Vests, jeans, shirts, womens suits, belts – what other types of clothing can you think of that were originally only for men?

In the Spring I plan on riding my bike more often

February 22, 2008 by Tricia

Spring will be here soon and if you’re like me, suffering through a very cold winter with lots of snow, you’re probably yearning for the nice weather to arrive. Usually by this time of year I’ve got cabin fever. It’s not quite as bad this year because we’ve got the puppy and whether I like it or not I’ve been getting outside every single day. No matter how cold it’s been. Brrrr

As I said when we got our puppy one of the reasons we got her was so that I could get more active. That new resolve had led to a lot more walking. I think I probably walk at least three to five extra miles each day now.

When the weather gets better, in about a month, I’ll get my bike out and hopefully start to go for rides a few times a week if not every day. If I don’t ride too fast our puppy can trot along beside me for while I go for a short ride.

We do need to get another bike though. My husband Chris has two bikes but neither of them are in good shape. One is a ten speed that only has one speed now! The other is also a 10 speed but it’s totally dismantled.

So I think one of the things we’ll purchase in the next month or so is a new bike for Chris. We have great bike trails near us here in almost downtown Toronto and then there’s always the boardwalk area at the beach too. They’re great areas for both walks, runs and bike rides.

I took a look at the Beach Cruiser website and I really like one or two of the cruiser bike styles. I think Chris will like them too.

I really like the yellow one that I included an image of at the top of this post! It’s so bright you couldn’t miss it and I like the style too. It’s a womens model and the price is quite reasonable too! Who knows, maybe I’ll even get myself a new bike too! They accept credit card and Paypal as forms of payment. Perhaps I could get the two of us new bikes using the earnings in my Paypal account. Now that would be nice!

They have cruisers for men, women and children as well as low rider and chopper style models too. Take a look at the site if you’ve been thinking of getting a new bike or if you have plans to become more active this Spring.

I’m certain that any of the cruiser models would make a fantastic gift for someone special in your life too.

A great Toronto search engine

February 17, 2008 by Tricia

I’ve found a great site to search for all things Toronto for those of you who live or who are visiting this great city. The site is called Toronto Major League Search and it’s easy and handy to use.

Say you need a cab and can’t remember the number for the cab company that you normally use, just go to Toronto Major League search and type in taxi or the name of the cab company and a results page will come up. You’ll likely be able to find the cab company that you’re searching for with a simple search such as this.

When you do a search you can also specify a location. For example I live in a part of the Toronto known as The Danforth so I did a search for Restaurants and I wrote The Danforth in the location area. This brought up about 6 pages of restaurant results. The various restaurant locations were shown on a medium sized Google map with the restaurant listings to the right of the Google map.

I did find that I got better results with my searches when I was more specific. For example I decided to search for Greek restaurants on Danforth Ave and more of the restaurant results seems to be on Danforth.

I do like that the site is tied in with Google maps. It’s nice to be able to see where something that you’ve searched for its located. It will save a lot of time in deciding which location to give my business to if I can pick one out easily that’s close to where I am.

Just like most search engines you can search for pretty much anything. give it a try and see if you find Toronto Major League Search helpful too.

Oh and if you know of a great business that should be listed on the site you can submit it using the link at the bottom of each page.
