Antique door knobs get me going

March 29, 2007 by Tricia

Oh my! Can you tell that Spring is here?

It seems that between this blog and my gardening blog I’ve been doing a lot of posting about getting outside, wanting to get out and work in my garden, and resuming our home renovation projects (so we can start new projects!).

It’s gotta have something to do with Spring. I mean, I’m still feeling sick so I’m not all that peppy, but I keep having all these thoughts about getting things done around the house and tidying up the garden. It must be that feeling of renewal that spring gives a person. At least the fact that I’m starting to get excited about our reno projects and other things must be a good sign.

So you know what got me going this time? Antique door knobs. That’s right. Door knobs of all things. BTW if you like antique door knobs check out the Architectural Classics site as it has a very nice collection.

You see, if you read the post prior to this one I mentioned that our house was built in 1927. One of the few things we haven’t changed in the house is all the door knobs. We really like the antique style – they are so much more ornate and attractive than modern door knobs.

The old outer door on our enclosed back porch had colored cut glass door knobs. We got ride of the door but kept the door knobs! When we finish our living room dining room reno I’d like to put a nice French door in the opening between the kitchen and dining room, and perhaps replace the basement door with a French door as well as the two doors are almost side by side when viewed from the kitchen. I’d put the cut glass door knobs on one of these doors. Of course, I’ll have to find another set of door knobs almost exactly the same for the second door.

Does anyone else like the look of antique door knobs better than modern ones?

Adorable new Spring line of baby clothes

March 25, 2007 by Tricia

Chris and I have been hoping to have a baby of our own for a long time now. Unfortunately my illness makes it a bit harder to become pregnant, but we are hoping that before the year is over that a baby might be on it’s way.

Since babies are on my mind these days I’ve been paying a little bit more attention to stores that sell baby clothing and accessories. One of the stores that I’ve bookmarked is called Baby CZ. I’m sure that a lot of the mothers who read my site will be interested in Baby CZ.

Baby CZ was founded and is managed by fashion designer Carolina Zapf. The store has built a great reputation and has become well known for it’s line of luxury baby clothing. In fact, they’ve just come out with their new Spring line and it’s on sale too!

The baby and children’s clothing lines that you’ll find at Baby CZ are well made using quality materials. I’ve gone through the site looking at many of the designs and I think the styles are just adorable. You’ll find everything from dresses, cardigans, jackets, blouses, accessories and more at this online store. They even have cashmere baby clothes!

If you have a baby or young child, or need to buy a gift for someone that does visit Baby CZ today.

Halloween Express for all your costume and themed party needs

March 16, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve been asked to write about Halloweenexpress.com. Now obviously, with a site titled Halloween Express you would expect to find Halloween Costumes, wouldn’t you?

You will, but you’ll also find costumes that relate well to just about any other major holiday, and costumes that could be used when attending costume parties and other themed events.

disco.gif Halloween Express carries everything from Adult, kid, pet and Halloween costumes, to accessories and make up, hats, wigs and masks plus decorations for your costume party. They offer the largest selection of Halloween costumes and merchandise. Just browse through their pages to see what I mean.

The costumes and merchandise sold at Halloween Express are a combination of the latest popular trends in costumes, as well as the tried and true best sellers.

There are so many different types of costumes to choose. Clicking on the adult costume section revealed an assortment of different styles of adult costumes. I see listings for everything from classic men and womens costumes, to horror, career, couples, Disney, fairytale, holiday, humorous, medieval, military, pirate, religious, sexy, super hero, and TV and movie related men and womens costumes.

babybug2.gif Now that’s just one section. Don’t forget they have costumes for children too. Isn’t the baby bug costume adorable?

Oh and don’t forget to browse through the pet costumes. I just love them.

If I had a dog or cat I might be tempted to dress them up at least once a year after seeing photos of costumed animals. How do you like the masked Power ranger dog costume?

petpowerranger2.gif There are just so many costumes that you really must see the Halloween Express site for yourself.

Halloween express also offers a large assortment of accessories, make up, hats, wigs and masks that you can add to your costume to complete the look, or use to personalize your costumed character.

alien2.gif Halloween Express started out in 1990, and has built itself up to become one of the most aggressive and dynamic Halloween chains in the US. That’s 17+ years of experience, and over 140 retail locations.

There are several company owned as well as franchise locations across the United States. If there isn’t a location in your area, have no fear. Just visit their online site HalloweenExpress.com. They ship merchandise across the continental US, however they do not ship internationally at this time.

So remember Halloween Express the next time you get invited to a costume party or a themed event. I’m certain you’ll be happy with the selection.

Start an online store using Ashop

March 8, 2007 by Tricia

I know a number of people who have started full or part time businesses by selling their merchandise online. Some of these people are artists who make their own products and sell them via online stores, others purchase merchandise from wholesalers and sell them from their store – just like any walk in retail store would do.

It’s through my friends that I’ve learned the importance of having a reliable shopping cart system for an online store. A shopping cart has to be secure, it can’t cost too much to use, and if it’s a hosted system the host must offer reliable service. An online store who’s shopping cart is not working can’t do any business can they?

If you’re looking for an ecommerce solution check out Ashop as it’s easy to use, web based, secure, reliable, reasonably priced and has built a reputation over the years as being a great ecommerce solution for many types of online businesses. You can accept credit cards, and customize the design to suit your needs. Visit the Ashop site to try out a demo store and see for yourself how easy it is to use.
