I didn’t even try them on!

May 15, 2007 by Tricia

Ok, we’re back from that silly doctors appointment.

It was so hot here today, that as we went back to the car after the appointment Chris and I looked at each other and we decided right then and there to go to a store and buy some summer clothes.

I’d been looking for shorts on and off for the last month or two but I hadn’t really found anything that I liked. Since it was already in the 80’s and getting hotter it was definitely time to go hunting for some cooler clothes!

We went to Winners.

You know what it’s like there. Either they have nothing that interests you, or you feel like you won the lottery. At least it’s that way for me.

Since I wasn’t feeling that well and I wanted to get back home to hopefully make a bit of money via the internet I opted to not try on any of the clothes that I picked out. Hopefully that wasn’t a huge mistake! I kept the receipt – I can always return them!

I purchased one new top, 6 pairs of shorts, 6 pairs of Capri pants and other pants, and one of those really soft fluffy house coats. Chris got four shirts and two pairs of shorts.

Why do they call shorts a pair of shorts when it’s only one item?

So uhm … the bill was pretty high! Most of the items were only $20 to $29 each, but when you purchase that many items it adds up!

Obviously I didn’t need all those pairs of shorts and pants and I fully expect that I’ll be taking some back since I didn’t bother to try them on – and still haven’t. However, since I don’t really go out shopping all that often, and since I have been looking for these items for a few months I figured I might as well pick out several of each and if they fit well and I like them, well I won’t have to buy any more this year!

Don’t ya just love a good shopping spree?

Great information at the Beautiful Me blog

May 10, 2007 by Tricia

I really like Belisi Fashions “Beautiful Me” blog. The blog just began in January, but it contains a lot of useful information that I’m sure most women would find interesting.

The blog discusses new skin care products and lines, the latest product and beauty related trends, beauty and spa treatments, cosmetic procedures and so on. One of the latest posts discusses products that can give you a fake tan in minutes. Considering that it’s now Spring in many parts of the world I’m sure many women are interested in getting a little color and adding some glow to their skin without the dangers of sun tanning and damage from sunburning. The article is certainly timely.

Business women, stay at home moms and blushing brides to be can all get something out of the Beautiful Me blog. Drop by and see if you can find some useful information.

Twenga – your UK shopping search engine

April 27, 2007 by Tricia

logo-beta.gif Feel like doing a little shopping? Well if you happen to live in the UK you might want to gander over to Twenga. Twenga is a UK based shopping search engine that uses proprietary crawl technology in order to provide the best shopping deals for their members.

The site is easy to navigate. There are category listings on the left side of the main page, and all pages have category tabs across the top so that you can easily browse through the site without having to return to the home page first.

You can find just about anything you need on Twenga. You’ll find great deals on Photo equiptment, camcorders, digital cameras, mobile phones, MP3 players, computers, Household appliances, Homewares, Linen, Furniture, Gardening – DIY, Fashion accessories, clothing and many more products.

Another thing that I like about this site is that once you select a product that you want to know more about, for example this Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50, you can read a detailed description of the products. When you scroll down the product page you’ll see a list of online stores that sell this Panasonic model.

Other features that you might enjoy are the fact that you can read articles of the products that you’re interested in, as well as write a rating yourself. I believe that you can also rate the products that are listed as well.

If you happen to be browsing the site and see an item that a friend might like, perhaps some jewellery, you can click on the “Recommend to a friend” link that’s located directly under the product rating on the right of the product description and tell them about interesting item that you found.

It seems that they’ve thought of just about everything on this site that you might need.

Shopping spree

April 9, 2007 by Tricia

The other day after my doctors appointment my husband and went shopping. Chris always has Mondays off. It’s great for him. We always have a long weekend, plus if either of us needs to make appointments his having Mondays off is quite convenient.

I went on a shopping spree!

I’ve needed to get some new clothes for a while. Since I’m mostly at home I didn’t need to get anything fancy. I just wanted a couple pairs of pants and I wanted to get a new pair of pajamas … well ok a T-shirt nightie. Comfy stuff.

So we went to the shopping mecca called Walmart. They’ve built a new super store close to where the previous Walmart had been. It’s huge!

I ended up getting two pairs of pants, a few t-shirts, three nighties and uh a bra. I needed that stuff!

We also picked up some groceries. I’ve never minded picking up dried goods – cereals and packaged foods like that, or canned and bottled items, but this store is more like a grocery store now. The old Walmart had a freezer section along with the rows of packaged food items, but it didn’t sell fresh food. This one does.

This last time and the time before I didn’t hesitate to get some fruit, veggies and salad makings. They were in good shape, and the price was right. I have however been hesitant to purchase fresh meat from Walmart. You know there’s some stores that you just don’t buy fresh goods from. For me, one of them is a grocery store called Food Basics here in Canada. They have great prices but their meat sucks. It seems to be off a lower grade than in other grocery stores.

So … does anyone purchase fresh meats at Walmart?

I did notice that they had some name brands – possibly some those of you from the US and other countries might not be familiar with like Maple Leaf which a good brand maker of meat products. The prices were reasonable and the chicken, beef and pork looked fresh and of good quality. I was tempted, but hesitated. I thought it might be best to ask my readers opinion first. I hate to waste money.

Who buys meat at Walmart? Is it good? Have you been happy with the quality?
