Give a Photo Mosiac as a gift

November 25, 2006 by Tricia

I just came across a site that makes unique gifts out of photographs.

The company is called Design a Mosaic, and when you order a photo mosaic from them with create a custom photo gift out of a series of your own photos using one main photo as the main image.

The remaining photos are used to compose the many cells with in the main photo to make an image, that when viewed close up reflects the many photographs that make up the picture as a whole. It’s amazing how they do this. See the sample photo mosaics on their site to see what I mean.

Stick up bra’s don’t work

November 12, 2006 by Tricia

Remember my experiment with a stick-up bra this past summer? Wait, maybe you don’t remember because I only told you about buying the stick up bra cups – not what happened when I tried to use them.

This past summer Chris’ cousin got married and I decided to wear that Marylin Monroe style blue dress that I had purchased last April for my nieces wedding. I didn’t wear it for my nieces wedding- chickened out and wore the black dress I had purchased at the time instead.

Well, the lovely blue dress has a very low bare back and you cannot wear a normal bra with it. I had to either wear a strapless bra and try to be sure it wasn’t seen, or wear the stick up cups. I chose the cups.

Unfortunately it was a very hot day, and during the wedding ceremony of all times, I felt one side of my bust drop a bit. Oh oh. Now you can’t start fiddling with your breasts during while someone is saying their vows can you? Nope. Not even when you can feel that sticky tickling feeling of something peeling off your skin. So I tried not to move too much, and after the ceremony as we were gathered outside on the church steps I felt the other side of my bust drop a bit too.

A few steps later and guess what? One of the stick up cups managed to wiggle out of my dress and fell to my feet. I was right in front of the priest too! I carefully bent over and put my purse on top of the bra cup and scooped it up without being seen I think. My husband was aware of what happened but we don’t think anyone else noticed. Man, that was embarrassing though. We went home before the reception so that I could put on a strapless bra. I don’t think I’ll experiment with stick ups again.

I’ve always had some trouble finding a great fitting bra and I suppose it’s the same story with stick on cups too. I’ve got a narrow upper body and if I find a bra that fits me in the bust I’ll notice that the straps and bands are too loose.

Even as a young girl I had trouble with teenage bras. I was flat as a board as a teenager but my mom insisted that I need a bra, so a bra I did have. Now, I think I’ve grown into my bust – My chest isn’t too small anymore, nor do I think I’ll ever find a need for those plus size bras either. I think, and I’m sure my husband would agree, that my bust is just the right size.

I think I found some uniforms

November 11, 2006 by Tricia

Earlier I was talking about getting some new nursing uniforms for when I go back to work. Think positive think positive that I’ll be feeling good enough to go back in December.

I was looking at Scrubs Gallery and I think I found a style of nursing pants that I like. Their flare leg elastic waist band pants. Yeah the elastic waist band doesn’t sound as cool as the flare leg style does, does it? But most nursing uniforms have elastic waistband for comfort and probably because they’re easier to make that way too. I’d maybe match those red pants with this Christmassy scrub top too.

I often end up working with small children so something cheery and playful would be great. yeah, I think I might get those. What do you think?

In those unfortunate times that you’ve had to be hospitalized or even spend a bit of time in the ER did you like the nurses uniforms when they were wearing bright colors or cheery prints?

Back to work soon I hope

November 10, 2006 by Tricia

I’m trying to think positively about going back to work. My next visit with the Occupational health doctor takes place December 15th. As with all of my other visits to the good doctor that will be when we decide if I’m off again for a month or more or if I’m finally ready to start working on moderated hours which will gradually increase until I’m back up to 12 hours a day. Ahhhh! Yeah- 3 different 12 hour shifts in four days- that was my usual schedule. No wonder I got sicker and sicker huh?

I think to motivate myself a little bit I might go shopping for some new Nursing Scrubs. Maybe I’ll get some colorful outfits. The patients I care for usually like the uniforms that I wear to work because I like bright colors. Now normally, in my day to day life I don’t wear really bright colors, but when I’m working in the ER I do. Why? I don’t know, but I know it makes the patients a little bit happier so that’s good enough for me.

While I’m looking perhaps I’ll find a lab coat or a suitable sweater to wear at work too. Sometimes it gets cold.
