HD audio confrencing

December 11, 2006 by Tricia

I’ve just been visiting a site called Lifesize and I suppose you could say they specialize in business communication systems from truly lifesize Video Conference in High definition to a product called Lifesize Phone which provides audio conferencing in high definition audio.

Now, probably not every business will be able to afford HD video conferencing at the moment but I wouldn’t doubt that most can and should make room in the budget to get HD audio conferencing. Compared to the old fashioned land line way of audio conferencing with static or being unable to hear all of the participants in the room clearly, HD audio is crisp and clear. HD audio uses 16 always on, circular array microphones with true CD quality sound.

It can be used on it’s own, or combined with the HD video conferencing equipment for extraordinary conferencing every time Lifesize’s products are used.

Learn more about careers in Nursing

December 8, 2006 by Tricia

I wonder how many people who read my page are nurses, or have thought of becoming a nurse as a career? Even though I haven’t been able to work for a while due to my Crohns, I can tell you that I love my career choice. If you’ve been reading this page for a while you probably also know that becoming a nurse wasn’t my first career choice. It took me a while to come around to nursing. I was a make up artist first, then a Jeweller to the trade, and only when the Jewelry trade went into recession did I decide that I wanted to make a career out of helping others.

As a nurse, I can tell you that you will never come home from your shift feeling glamorous, but you will come home from your shift most of the time feeling like you’ve made a difference in someones life. Whether that feeling of accomplishment comes from making someone who’s in pain feel just a little bit better, making someone laugh, or from saving a life – you’ll know you made a difference.

If you’ve been thinking of becoming a nurse or going back to school to take some specialty courses in nursing you should take a look at the Nursing Degree Guide. You’ll find information on the site about the various types of nurses/ nursing careers from LVN/LPN, RN, specialties and advanced practice Nursing.

The Nursing Degree guide also has information regarding the various types of Nursing Degrees that are available Online and in Universities, such as Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree courses. If you are interested in getting a Degree you can read up on what’s involved in the course and the specialties that you can branch out into when you achieve your degree.

I really enjoyed reading this site and getting more information on the courses available to me. I was also pleased to find that if I wanted to take more courses that there is a way for me to take them online through the University of Phoenix, Kaplan Nursing and six other Colleges and Universities that offer Online courses.

I hope that if any of my readers have ever thought of a career in nursing that they will take a look at the Nursing Degree Guide for an explanation of the types of nursing careers that are available today. There are nursing shortages all over North America. We need more nurses to join us in our work. It’s demanding, but it’s also satisfying work.

I can tell you that one of the reasons why there are long waiting times in the ER and for surgeries is because of the nursing shortage. I work in one of the busiest ER’s in Canada and while we are likely one of the best staffed units in our hospital, most days we could easily double our staff and still have people waiting to be seen.

Are you looking for an internship?

December 8, 2006 by Tricia

I know several people, who, when they’ve graduated from College or University end up having a hard time finding an internship so that they can begin their career. So I was pleased to see that there’s a website, UK based that puts companies searching for interns and people looking for internships together.

If you are looking for Internships Abroad then you need to check out this site.

The site is easy to use. Simply fill in the kind of internship that you are looking for in the quick search box, when you’d be available and what Country you’d like to work in (currently the UK and Spain are listed) and a list of available internships will come up for you to browse.

Have you thought of buying a second home

December 6, 2006 by Tricia

If you are a home owner, have you ever thought of purchasing a second home? There are lots of reasons why someone might buy a second home. Chris and I considered purchase the house that is attached to our own when we first bought this house. We would have used the second house as a rental property. What could be better to keep an eye on tenants other than living right next store to your renters?

I’ve also thought about buying a cottage. I grew up having a cottage and I loved it. I’ve even gone so far as to look up properties in the area of where my old cottage was but the prices have just sky rocketed. So the next best thing would be to actually buy a house in a town near the idea cottage vacation spots. The houses that I found were only about 1/4 of the price of the cottages on the lakes and they had more space and land.

We’re holding off on those ideas right now, but if you are thinking of buying a second home- whether it be for pleasure, rental or as a short term vacation home, maybe even a time share property then you should go have a look at GMAC Real Estate Second Homes. GMAC Real estate has great information on second homes, ones that you can find on the internet. The GMAC site is organized in a way that makes it easy to find the information that you need. Whether you are selling your property of looking into purchasing a second one, you’ll find a lot of good information. There are articles about buying and selling second homes, tax implications, and rental opportunities. Check it out.

Increasing link popularity

December 6, 2006 by Tricia

Have you ever wondered how you can increase the link popularity of your site? Or why it might be important to do so?

The main reason why you would want to increase link popularity is so that you site will climb higher in the search engines under keywords that are specific to your site. For example if you site is about roses and several people have linked to your site in a number of different ways – lists of links, links with texts in articles and posts etc with the word rose or roses in the link then your site will probably climb closer to the top of the search engines.

Google in particular is a good search engine to concentrate on getting improved ranking in. No one has quite figured out it’s complicated algorithm, but we know that one of the things that Google’s algorithm looks for is the number of links to your site from other sites. We’ll call them off site links. Google also gives higher importance to links that are on sites that are similar in genre to your own, as well as links that are with in posts in a contextual manner rather than just listed on a link page. You can get more information about increasing your link popularity and more in depth information on how Google’s algorithm works by visiting the link I listed earlier.

The methods that many people use to increase link popularity are to try to have their press releases distributed across the internet, purchasing links from link brokers, and trading links with other websites – preferably sites that are similar to your own in some way.
