Winning and Losing?

May 1, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve got big news coming soon … I know I teased you a few days with it but I think I might be able to tell you about it within a few hours, certainly by tomorrow.

The news is coming just at the right time too because I’m pretty fed up with some of the other things that I’ve been doing. I mean … as a way to make money and promote our sites and so on. It’s getting stressful and now I’ve got something like Big Brother watching over me and I’m really fed up.

You know, I’ve been stuck at home sick for 16 months now. Terrible pain and not able to work and still I didn’t get depressed. I just kept myself going and always tried to look at the bright side and make the best of things. Lots of good things have happened during this time period too so I do have a lot to be grateful for … but the only time I verge on the side of being depressed is when this one company gives me a hard time. Like today.

One step forward … two steps back ..

Dinner and a meeting

May 1, 2007 by Tricia

Saturday night Chris and I got together with an advertiser that I’d done a post for earlier in the month. It turned out that he lived in the Toronto area, enjoyed my writing, and that he offered me a free lance job writing on his company blog a few times each week.

So Chris and I went to meet with him Saturday night and we had a great time. Paul’s a really nice guy and a very good cook. I must get some of the marinade that he used on the steaks that he served us. The steaks were nice and tender and had a mildly sweet honey taste to them. Mmmmm.

Paul has an electric and acoustic guitar so Chris entertained us here and there by playing some tunes on the guitar.

All in all it was a nice little get together and very nice for me since I don’t seem to get out much lately. I’ll let you know more about the blog that I’ll be writing on soon so that you can come and visit me there too if you’d like.

What did you do last weekend?

BTW very few of you guys clicked on the post that I did for Paul. Don’t some of you do some work in your homes? Redesign a room? Remodeling? Put in a new kitchen or bathroom? Don’t you want to win and earn $5000 that you could put towards your reno projects?

Since I might end up working for this company I can’t enter. I really want to enter though, because as you probably know we’ve got several ongoing reno projects and we’ve documented them from start to finish as we went.

Get paid to blog with Smorty

April 30, 2007 by Tricia

Have you heard of Sm0rty yet?

Sm0rty is a brand new service that allows bloggers to blog for money. I believe that Sm0rty launched near the end of March 2007. Advertisers that would like to promote a product, business, service or website sign on to Sm0rty and create opportunities that bloggers who have registered into the system can then select and write an opinion about the topic of the opportunity for a specified amount of money.

Sm0rty is basically the middle man handling the transactions between bloggers and advertisers. Advertisers get links within posts and articles about their products or sites, and bloggers get paid to blog. Once a blogger selects an opportunity to post about they have up to three days to complete their task. Keep in mind though, that Sm0rty is in Australia and the time limit is posted in Australian time.

At this time Sm0rty is only accepting blogs on their own domain in the form domain.com rather than domain.com/blog. They are accepting blogs that are at least three months old, indexed in Google and that have a minimum of 2 posts per week. Bloggers are paid weekly for they tasks that they have completed. The prices that bloggers are paid for their blog advertising can vary but it’s based on the sites page rank, Alexa rank and it seems how quickly tasks are returned and if they are accepted once handed in. Bloggers with high ratings can apparently make up to $100 per paid post. The minimum price is supposed to be set at $6, but at this time I can see one opportunity that is valued at $3.00.

If you’d like to get paid to blog why don’t you try signing up with Sm0rty and see if your site gets accepted.

Protect your companies data with IBackup

April 27, 2007 by Tricia

If you have a small business or even a home business you know how important it is to keep track of your files and make sure that they are secure. Making sales and promoting your product is a big part of any small business, but as someone who used to own her own small business I know how important keeping all of the data regarding sales, company purchases and expenses can be.

Most small businesses store their data on their computer. Do you back up your data? What about storing your back up online using a secure service? I think it’s important for small businesses to think about having a secondary backup and using a company like IBackup – Online Storage. It just makes sense to have a secondary backup for your important data.

IBackup is the industry leader in online storage service. It’s features have earned it PCWorld and PCMag editor’s choices awards.

The company has several different packages to suit your companies needs. One of the features that I think most businesses will like is that ability to schedule online backups using a desktop scheduler.

Other features of this online backup service include mapping online data as a drive on your business computer, or mapping it as a webfolder. You can easily drag and drop files into your online storage as your edit or create them.

Features that you can look forward to when you register for an IBackup package are interactive and automatic scheduling of backups, compression during transmission, encryption, open file support ofr MS SQL server, incremental and full backups, synchronization, exchange backups and many more features.

Visit IBackup and see for yourself what this online storage service can do for your company.

I just got a special deal

April 27, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve been keeping this under wraps, but I just got two of my sites listed in a special, and very large network. I feel like I just got one of those secured loans or something.

Big things are happening over here and I’ve got to work hard to keep up!

This network is pretty much invite only and comes with a special advertising network deal as well. I don’t want to say specifically what it is just yet. I’ll officially announce it next week, and you’ll probably see a few minor changes to the site that will reflect my addition into this network sometime next week as well.

If I’m correct inclusion in this network will result in a bit of extra traffic for the two sites that have become part of ???? Network.

I’m so excited! Wish I could say more!
