Vacationing with a puppy?

December 10, 2007 by Tricia

Now that we have a dog, well a puppy, our vacations might be a bit limited for a while. At least until we have Midnight trained. I mean, if we got someone to look after her while we went away for a week or two I’d want her to be house trained and hopefully a little calmer than she is right now.

BTW she’s still sick but I think she’s getting better. She’s on antibiotics for the runs that she’s been having just in case it’s a bacterial infection. The vet is running a culture and sensitivity test on her stool to determine just what might be making her so sick. She does have roundworm and that’s being treated too. I’ve been giving her water with gatorade mixed in, and her food is a little of her dried food mixed with rice and chicken broth. I’m trying my best to help her retain fluids so she’ll stay hydrated. Things are a little better than they were Friday and Saturday. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she’ll be back to normal soon.

Anyway, once she’s over her illness and house trained I don’t see any reason why Chris and I couldn’t take a road trip with her. Maybe stay in pet friendly hotels or motels? Actually there’s
Pigeon Forge cabin rentals in TN, and they have some very nice pet friendly cabins that might be nice to stay in. I think we’ll have to make sure her chewing obsession has calmed down a bit before we can take her to such a nice place though.

Any other travel ideas for people with young dogs that must travel with them?

Furnished Apartments for Rent in Dubai

December 9, 2007 by Tricia

I’ve known a number of nurses and doctors over the last decade who’ve traveled abroad to work for a few months to a couple of years in foreign locations. I think I know about five nurses that have worked in Dubai.

Obviously people who in other professionals also take temporary work – engineers, contractors and so on.

If you will be traveling to Dubai for vacation or for a short stay, possibly due to work, you might want to look into staying in one of the lovely dubai hotel apartments or dubai villas that are being rented at dubaiapartments.biz.

The apartments are furnished and dubaiapartments.biz only accepts rentals that are up to their high standards. What does this mean? Well it means that all of their rentals are the equivalent of 3 star ratings or higher.

In fact, dubaiapartments.biz is the largest online short term rental portal in Dubai. There are over 120 self catering properties, listed by the owners themselves or property managers. The easy to use site is a great way for those with properties to rent to connect with tourists or those who are in Dubai for short term work who need a comfortable place to stay with all of the amenities.

If you’d prefer to stay in on of the luxurious dubai hotels you’ll find them listed on the site as well.

The site is very easy to use. Simple visit the site and right there on the main page you can begin your search for a furnished apartment by location. You can also use a variety of search features to make sure that the list of properties in your search result are really what you are looking for by listing how many bedrooms, price range and of course your rental start date.

Photos accompany many of the listings so you’ll be able to see your future accommodation before you book your stay.

At the bottom of the page you’ll see links that will take you to pages that describe the various locations that the various furnished apartments are located in. This might make it easier to decide which location you’d like to rent within.

Visit the dubaiapartments.biz to learn more about the furnished apartment rentals.

I’d love to go to the Rodeo

December 6, 2007 by Tricia

When we picked up our puppy Midnight two weeks ago she was being kept in a pen in a barn. Did I tell you that there were also three horses on the other side of the barn? Absolutely gorgeous horses.

I’ve always loved horses. When I was growing up we had a cottage on my mothers family’s old farm land and when I was very young there were still horses, cows and pigs there.

I must admit that I haven’t spent much time around farm animals in a long while, but I did enjoy seeing the horses in that barn.

When I was growing up my mother used to take me to horse shows. She loved the jumping, but I was always partial to the Rodeos. I guess I loved the action and perhaps all those cute cowboys too.

In their later years my parents were winter Texans and they attended the Houston Rodeo a few times.

Did you know that the Houston Rodeo is rated as the largest rodeo in the world? Over one million people attend each year. It’s so big that each night after each days Rodeo events there’s a concert feature Country, Rock n’ Roll, Hip Hop and and Latin music stars and bands. I doubt very much that my parents ever attended any concerts, but if I got a chance to get Houston Rodeo concert tickets I’d see a band. My preference would of course be a rock band.

Have you ever been to the Houston Rodeo? Did you enjoy yourself? If you’ve been to the Rodeo did you also attend a concert?

I was looking up information on the Rodeo and this years concerts will be by Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), Rascal Flatts, and there’s still a number of concert performers to be announced. Check it out for yourself – perhaps you’ll go to the Rodeo this March.

Putting aside my hopes of travel

December 6, 2007 by Tricia

I was hoping now that I got Chris to go on a trip, and since he did ok with flying this time, that we’d be able to start traveling more.

Then we got a puppy.

I can’t seem to get much of anything done now that we have this energetic ball of fur running around!

I’m so tired and my Crohns is starting to act up bad – probably from the lack of sleep and increased activity.

Well, I guess we can still go on trips to places that we can drive to at least.

I had been hoping to get out to Vancouver sometime in the New Year – perhaps in the Spring or early Summer, but driving there takes four or five days so we’d have to take at least three weeks to make a proper trip of it. Might as well plan on going to one of those Hawaii bed and breakfast. It’s just not going to happen right now.

The puppy won’t even be a year old until the end of August and that seems like forever to me right now. The way she chews things and goes into what I call parana mode (all mouth!) I don’t think we’d even bother to ask any of our friends to look after her until she calms down some.

Do I sound like a new mom or what?

Meeting Mr. Fab

November 14, 2007 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

One of the things I was looking forward to on my trip to Las Vegas was meeting the infamous Mr. Fab from Pointless Drivel. I’ve known him for close to two years and it was about time we finally met!

Here we are at Tattoo Alley after a few drinks …

Fab and Trish

He and my husband Chris got along famously. Two peas in a pod those two!

Some might think Mr. Fab is all fluff (and feathers)

Fab

But those of us that know him know he has a strong character – here he is proving how strong he is by lifting Colleen:

We also discovered that he likes to sing and dance, among other things! Here he is with Alli and Colleen

As you can probably tell we had a great time last Thursday night. We also had a few too many drinks, but that’s another story!

You can see more photos from my trip to Vegas at Flickr.
