The dog’s under the table

September 10, 2008 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

I love this picture of Midnight. She was lying under our teak table in the backyard when i snapped the shot. I love how the legs of the teak table frame her face.

I really like our Teak table. It’s made with recovered teak wood – as in teak tree stumps and or old fallen branches. These pictures aren’t great, but you can get an idea of what the whole table looks like:

Looking for a new WP photoblog theme – help?

September 9, 2008 by Tricia

I need a new WordPress Theme for my photoblog – Breath of Life Photography.

You’d think it would be easy enough to find a nice theme for a photoblog considering that there are thousands and thousands of free WP themes out there … but no … there are very few that are suitable for displaying a large image in a single post.

The theme I’m using now is OK, but it incorporates the post page (single page view) into the main index page, so that cuts down on your options if you want to display certain things on your index page and other items (or exclude items) on single post pages. Also … there’s no sidebar. I guess I could live without a sidebar, but a theme with footer sidebars incorporated into it would be cool.

The current theme displays images up to 720 px in size. I’d like to find a theme that displays pictures that large or at least no less than 600 px wide.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for a new WordPress theme? I’d prefer a free one if possible!

Thanks!

I Love Antique Roses

September 3, 2008 by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

Compte de Chambord rose

This rose is called Compte de Chambord. It has a long history and I believe it was one of the rose species that was commonly used to make rose perfume due to it’s lovely rose scent.

I like the effect I managed to get in this shot. There are two roses in the photo, but because they were just moving slightly due to a light breeze it almost looks like a mirror effect – doesn’t it?

All of the asters that I planted in my garden beds in June are blooming their little heads off now. I believe the Asters are pom pom asters … whether they are or not, they sure do look like Pom poms don’t they?

These bright and cheery flowers should bloom in my garden until late September or even well into October if the weather holds out.

Do you grow Asters in your garden?

Loveliest sunset of the year

August 30, 2008 by Tricia

This weeks Photo Hunt theme is Beautiful.

What is more beautiful than a gorgeous sunset on a lovely summer evening?

Summer Sunset in Toronto

Not only were the clouds colored red as the sun set, but some of the smaller clouds were tiny dark puffs creating dotted lines of clouds across the sky.

Summer Sunset in Toronto

I have to admit that what first grabbed my attention were the lower portion of the large clouds. See how wisps of clouds have drifted down below the main cloud? It’s almost as if someone lightly dragged a paint brush through them causing wispy trails.

Summer Sunset in Toronto

It was an amazing sunset. I’m certain it was the most beautiful that I’ve seen all year, or perhaps in several years!

I’m only sorry that we have so many electric wires criss crossing the street. They marred the view and my photos.  Oh well … it’s still lovely.
